·       Phil Mason, Arizona Republican Assembly First Vice Chairman to LD18 Republican Precinct Committeemen (PCs): Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD) Governing Board’s Brandon Schmoll and his counterparts have a major impact on the citizens in the school district. Especially the ever increasing property taxes due to unnecessary school bonds and budget overrides.

Schmoll, who ran as a conservative small government Republican, just wrote an Opinion piece that appeared in the East Valley Tribune and Tempe-Ahwatukee Arizona Republic that should be filed in the Library Fiction section. He starts with the Alice in Wonderland statement that he is excited to see more dollars spent in the classroom. According to the latest Auditor General’s report, TUHSD is one of the worst school districts in the state for declining dollars to the classroom - dropping from 59.9% to 52.7% since 2008.

It is inconceivable that TUHSD has not been able to give its teachers an increase in pay for the last five years,( according to his statement), when it was one of the few school districts that received a huge INCREASE in funding from the State - from $17,209,612 to $22,136,315 according to the District’s Annual Financial Reports. Source: Arizona Department of Education Superintendent’s Annual Financial (SAFR) Reports 2006 and 2014.

With that huge increase in revenues and no teacher pay raises, the question arises - where did the money go? The same Annual Report prepared by TUHSD’s Finance Office seems to have the answer.

The number of classified managers in the District Office is now 230% of what there was in 2006 with no new schools. To justify the outrageous increase in classified managers, you must increase the number of classified employees in the district office, and they justify that while decreasing the number of teachers thereby increasing class sizes. Why are the teachers the ONLY group being given a lower priority by TUHSD? Source: Arizona Office of the Auditor General

TUHSD is proposing a historic 50% increase with this budget override. The taxpayers are being taken for a ride by administrative bureaucrats. There is NO need for a budget override. However, there is a need for a thorough housecleaning of elected officials who self-promote themselves to the furtherance of their political careers, and school personnel who believe in a bigger bureaucracy on the backs of citizens who are taxed enough already.

·       The-American-Economy-Is-A-Rino-(Republican-In-Name-Only)   For the past few years, the Obama lovers in the media have been boasting about the supposedly great economy Americans are enjoying. According to this fictitious narrative, Obama’s strong leadership saved the economy and led to our “recovery,” but, in reality, we face today a RINO or “Recovery in Name Only” economy. The real economy was exposed in the September labor report. The country created only 142,000 new jobs, much less than expectations. This year, we are adding fewer than 200,000 new jobs each month, well below last year’s average of 260,000 new jobs per month. The so-called experts blame it on the global economic slowdown, yet, the economy of the United States has been troubled for years. We never recovered from the Great Recession of 2008 and have really been suffering from a prolonged recession

·       Sen David Farnsworth will address Freedom Fires at 6:30pm., Wed., Oct 21 at Burke Basic School, 131 E Southern Ave., Mesa, AZ 85210.

·       Northeast Maricopa County Chapter Arizona Republican Assembly  Chairman Ardith Hildebrant: In keeping with the unanimous vote by the Arizona Republican Assembly (AzRA)  to oppose all city bond issues and school overrides until these taxing entities show they will be responsible with taxpayer money, the Northeast Maricopa County AzRA Chapter has mounted a robust effort to defeat the Scottsdale Bond Tax that is scheduled for a vote on November 3.  Up against six of seven City Council members, including Mayor Lane, the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, the Rose Law firm and other well-funded companies and organizations, the members of AzRA in Scottsdale nonetheless have put out over 100 signs at major intersections through the PAC, Taxpayers Speaking Out Against Scottsdale 2015 Bond 1-6 PAC #COS-2015-105 (  They have also handed out 14,000 flyers to voter households, installed yard signs and emailed to thousands of voters in Scottsdale.  And they aren't done yet.

The city has approved $20 million to bail out the PGA, subsidized Super Bowl parties to the tune of $1million, provided $4million to prop up the Cultural Council and purchased shiny new trucks and cars for Scottsdale workers.  Why were those things more important that doing the maintenance and repairs called for in the Bond questions 1-6?

Scottsdale has the highest per capita debt of any city in Maricopa County already and the largest per capita workforce of any city in Maricopa County.   Taxpayers are still paying off the last bond they issued.  Floating another Bond Issue is irresponsible.

Anyone in the Scottsdale voting area who would like to help can contact Ardith Hildebrant, Chapter President, at 480-861-7170

·       Tom Jenney of Americans for Prosperity will address Freedom Fires at 6:30pm., Wed., Oct 28 at Burke Basic School, 131 E Southern Ave., Mesa, AZ 85210.

·        Harvard-University-Study-Reveals-Astonishing-Link between firearms, crime and gun control  “There is a compound assertion that guns are uniquely available in the United States compared with other modern developed nations, which is why the United States has by far the highest murder rate,” report Kates and Mauser. “Though these assertions have been endlessly repeated," the statement “is, in fact, false.” Norway, Finland, Germany, France and Denmark, which have high rates of gun ownership, have low murder rates. On the other hand, in Luxembourg, where handguns are totally banned and ownership of any kind of gun is minimal, the murder rate is nine times higher than Germany.  Their source of information?
