·       Chins Are Still Wagging about Wednesday night’s Maricopa County Republican Committee’s Executive Guidance Committee (MCRC EGC) Donnybrook.  The agenda didn’t list screaming, hollering, shouting matches, nor a failed attempt to pass a vote of no confidence resolution against chairman Tyler Bowyer-- but that’s what EGC members endured. “It was just awful… just awful,” confided one attendee.  Emotions ran high during nearly an hour of chaos that ended in a ‘vote of confidence resolution’ tally that favored Chairman Tyler Bowyer by 15-14…one vote.  See 11-4-15-briefs  Witnesses say EGC Board Second Vice Chairman Aaron Borders lead the charge against Bowyer, backed by First Vice Chairman Jeni White. Rumors have sprouted that Borders and White might be asked to resign at the December EGC meeting.  Borders presented a two page, single-spaced resolution listing some 19 complaint allegations regarding Bowyer’s leadership/ management techniques ranging from lack of communication with the EGC members to misrepresentation of the EGC. Some says Bowyers opponents arrived with prepared ballots before the lengthy resolution was brought to the floor.  Reports had circulated Wednesday morning that Bowyers opponents wanted a ballot vote because some thought a voice or hand vote would fail. Others say Bowyers opponents lost votes because of unprofessional behavior. Regardless of whose version you chose to believe, the whole episode is an embarrassment to the party.  It’s apparent that Bowyer needs to knock off with some of his shenanigans, start communicating better with his members, improve his management skills and that a parliamentarian, a Sgt at Arms and a security officer need to be in attendance in December. Those prone to screaming and yelling need to try a calm, professional manner.  Bully tactics turn off your fellow Republicans.  Dems must be laughing their heads off. – Editor Frosty Taylor

·       And Turning To A Lighter Note, a reader asks if anyone had taken any photos showing the clown outfits hanging along the walls in the room where the upheaval occurred.

·       MCRC EGC 2nd Vice Chairman Aaron Borders:  I have fought hard against the political machine of John McCain my whole political life. He messed in my house race against me because I stood against him. Then to deflect by saying that John McCain put me up to this when I have already sent big checks to his most formidable opponent. It kind of grinds my gears. I just think that McCain and Trump are being used as tools to deflect true responsibility.  See 11-4-15-briefs

·       Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP:  MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer beat back another underhanded attempt by the establishment to take control of the party and stop the conservative momentum which is gaining ground thanks to the efforts of grassroots groups like the Tea Party and AzRA and as a result, now within our party.  This was very reminiscent of the moves made against me when I was State Chair by the same contingent.  The only difference this time was that they are more open as to who is doing what.  But it is the same old, same old.  The establishment believes that they and they alone have all the answers and the right to control the GOP.  Fact is, that is not an absolute and the ground is moving under their feet and it’s not moving in their direction. They should take a close look at what just happened in Kentucky and Virginia (again).  Their champions are going down because conservatism is no longer contained within the boundaries of a party it is now awake and has become the movement it must be, to turn this country around.  We ALL make mistakes and Tyler is no exception, but his heart and principles are solid as he does the very difficult job of chairman.  I made mistakes as well but in the end WE were extremely successful in the elections of 2012 despite the attacks on us by the establishment. Go Tyler!  And Trump, Carson and Cruz!

·       Aaron Gidwani, MCRC Western PC Coordinator and  LD30 State Committeeman,  has accepted a position with Concerned American Voters PAC supporting Senator Rand Paul.  “I am humbled and grateful to work for a candidate who inspires daily and challenges the status quo to uphold the Constitution and defend our civil liberties.  I will fight daily to bring the message of hope to those who search for viable public policy solutions for 2016,” said Gidwani

·       Arizona Citizens Defense League: The end of “instant” background checks? On Wednesday, October 28, Senate Democrats promised to file legislation that would eliminate the concept of “instant” in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).  Currently if the FBI does not complete a NICS check within 72 hours (the federal definition of “instant”) the retailer may proceed with the sale. Under the proposed legislation a retailer cannot transfer a firearm without FBI approval no matter how long it takes.  Imagine what a President with “a pen and a phone” and carte blanche over NICS processing times could do with this new authority?

Could this proposed legislation pass given the make-up of the federal House and Senate?  With the “whatever Obama wants, Obama gets” attitude of the spineless Republican leadership in both chambers, we’re not sure it would be stopped.

It’s time to rattle some cages.  In 2013, AzCDL joined the National Coalition to Stop the Gun Ban, composed primarily of independent, non-affiliated, state pro-rights firearms organizations.  It is not controlled by any national organization.  The Coalition represents what politicians should fear the most – An organized grassroots movement to defend the Second Amendment.
To remind federal politicians who they work for, the Coalition has set up an online
petition, to the members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, demanding that they “use all means, procedural or substantive, to defeat any legislation introduced or amended to curtail, restrict or qualify private ownership of firearms, and to oppose any executive order issued to that end.”
We encourage you to join us and add your name to the Coalition
petition.  These alerts are a project of the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL
), an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization.

·       Congressman Matt Salmon: Shrink Our Spending Initiative Bill #1:End Federal Subsidies To Amtrak - "Amtrak, the government's perpetually uncompetitive railroad company, is praised by some as preserving passenger rail service in the United States. Unfortunately, Americans have voted with their dollars that they would prefer almost any other method of transportation to trains in most instances. America offers a robust market with numerous other transportation companies, with bountiful providers of air and land travel at competitive prices. Conversely, the market for train service is so abysmal that the only way a national provider can continue to exist is by leeching funds from the U.S. taxpayer. Our nation is a nation of innovation and creative destruction. It's time for Congress to get out of the railroad business and allow private companies to operate rail service where the market will freely support such a service instead of wasting funds where it can't compete with the countless other options available to our citizens." – Read More About Bill #1

·       Sen John McCain , Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on Senate Democrats voting today to block consideration of the Fiscal Year 2016 Defense Appropriations Bill: “For the third time this year, Senate Democrats have blocked vital legislation to give the men and women in our military the funding they need to defend the nation. Even after a bipartisan budget deal was passed and signed, Senate Democrats still can’t say yes to our troops. It seems Senate Democrats always find an excuse not to support funding our national defense. There is always some negotiating stance to defend, some procedural quibble to make, some domestic spending priority that is more important. Senate Democrats’ treatment of our national defense as little more than political leverage has become disturbingly routine,   and it’s a shameful departure from the bipartisan tradition of providing for the common defense.”

·       Sen John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on Senate Democrats blocking consideration of the Fiscal Year 2016 Defense Appropriations Bill for the third time this year:  “Earlier today, Senate Democrats blocked consideration of the defense appropriations bill for the third time this year, vital legislation to give the men and women in our military the funding they need to defend the nation. Then in a stunning display of confused priorities, Senate Democrats voted unanimously to consider an appropriations bill for military construction. With Veterans Day less than a week away, Senate Democrats must explain why they are willing to take better care of military buildings than military personnel, and why they believe military construction in their states is more worthy of funding than support for our troops and the defense of the nation.”  Senate floor here.
