·       AJ LaFaro, Immediate Past Chairman Of The Maricopa County Republicans: All of us here in The Valley were so busy licking our wounds from all of the K-12 bonds and budget overrides the progressive socialists and educational industrial complex got past here in Maricopa County this past week, we completely missed the historic and tremendous victories the taxpayers and our grassroots conservative  brothers and sisters won in Pima County.  All eight bond issues failed by huge margins.  See:

·       Reports Of A Missing Check from Sen Jeff Flake for the Maricopa County Republican Lincoln Dinner has been resolved.  During a recess at Nov 4 MCRC EGC “donnybrook”,  reports of a missing check from Flake surfaced. The check hasn’t show on the treasurer’s reports since March because it was never cashed. As of this afternoon, a new check was issued by Flake’s office and delivered to Treasurer David Ludwig by EGC First Vice Chair Jeni White. When asked if Chairman Tyler Bowyer had directed her to delved into the matter and why Chairman Tyler Bowyer or Ludwig hadn’t retrieved the check, White said she had taken it upon herself to check with Flakes office. When it was discovered that the check hadn’t been cashed, a replacement was written and White delivered it to Ludwig. The MCRC treasury is now $1,000 fuller.  So… one of the hot topic issues from the donnybrook has been resolved.

·       No Confidence” Resolution Author Second Vice Chair Aaron Borders says he originated the two page, 19 point resolution on his own and asked First Vice Chair Jeni White to print up ballots for the EGC meeting.  See chins are wagging: 11-5-15-briefs

·       Folks are asking who is the anointed one, lying in wait in the background, to run for election to replace Bowyer --  if his opponents eventually manage to unseat him?

·       Some Claim Jen White came to the meeting dressed up and appeared prepared to step in as the new temporary chairman prior to failure of the Borders resolution.  Others predict the losers will be back in December for another try at removing Chairman Tyler Bowyer. Others hope White and Borders will be asked to resign in December for their emotional display during the Nov 4 meeting.

·       AZGOP Compliance Office Timothy Lee is planning training sessions on AZGOP bylaws and Roberts Rules of Orders in February and March for the legislative district and county chairmen.  Attendees at the Wednesday night MCRC EGC chaotic meeting  will attest to how badly the training is needed – particularly for those who need public meeting behavior adjustments.

·       And Speaking Of Robert Rules – The comment, “Where is Rob Haney when we need him?” was heard numerous times the past couple of days as people expressed their disgusted at the behavior of some of the EGC members during the Wednesday night fiasco.  Witnesses report that former MCRC Chairman Haney would have gaveled down those involved in the screaming matches and immediately brought the meeting back to order.

·       Flashback: New_Regent_Disrespects_Arizonas_Students  Some folks have long memories and think they see history repeating itself.  Amidst all the uproar following the recent MCRC EGC meeting, someone retrieved this clipping from 2011 and circulated it today.

·       A Caller Noted That “Donnybrook” was the perfect description of the Nov 4 meeting . “The only thing missing was a few drunks and the throwing of chairs,” he quipped. Donnybrook is defined as a scene of uproar, a heated argument, brawl, or free for all by various dictionaries.

·       A Little Bird Confides that AZGOP Robert Graham is about to lose two of his right hand helpers who are ready to head elsewhere. We’ll leave that hanging in suspense so those fellows can announce when they are leaving.

·       Although AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham flatly denied it last spring, reports persist that Graham has his eye on the chair of National Republican Committee Chairman Reince Preibus. Other inner circle hierarchy report that the top dogs at the NRC say Graham can’t get elected to replace Preibus because of his Arizona shenanigans.

·       Fountain Hills PC Boe James: Wed, Nov 11 is Veterans Day. This year the nation commemorated the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II and continues to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Viet Nam War.

Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day.  Memorial Day is for remembering and honoring military personnel who have died in the service to our country -  in combat or as the result of injuries or wounds sustained in battle.  Veterans Day is designed to recognize, thank and honor ALL who have served honorable in any of the armed forces in peacetime and wartime, including those who have died. Confusing the two diminishes the value of each.

Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day. Congress passed a joint resolution on June 4, 1926 calling upon the President to issue a proclamation recognizing the end of World War I.

Armistice Day was designated a legal holiday on May 13, 1938. Initially Armistice Day was set aside to honor veterans of World War I, but, in 1954, after World War II (which had required the greatest mobilization of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen in the Nation's history) and after American forces had fought aggression in Korea, and at the urging of the various Veterans Service Organizations, the 83rd Congress amended the Act of 1938 by changing the word "Armistice" to "Veterans."

In 1971, Congress passed a bill creating three day weekends by moving several holidays to either a Friday or a Monday. Veterans Day was one of these holidays. In 1975 the date was restored to November 11.

Observing Veterans Day on November 11 preserves the historical significance of the date and helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day.
