·       LD23 PC Chris Brant: President Obama in GQ Magazine compares himself to the Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers --I have seen Rodgers perform, Mr. President you are no Aaron Rodgers. To compare yourself  to any sport figure seems a little silly. From all accounts you even had trouble making it onto your Hawaiian High School basketball team. Your game may have improved since we paid for a staff member whose main task is to play Basketball with you at the Whitehouse.

I would think a more apropos comparison would be with David Copperfield because you have been pretty good Magician. You confessed that you weren’t a good student at Occidental, but you made it to Columbia, where you did not perform well but made it to Harvard. Those were pretty good tricks! A Community Rebel Rouser is not necessarily a plum job nor is being a part time lecturer at an Illinois University,  however, buying that piece of property at such a low cost from a future felon was a masterful trick. You certainly had little impact in the Illinois Senate, but you made it to the US Senate achieving nothing of substance. You then discovered that you could master the trick of reading someone else’s words on a teleprompter most of the time (Corpsman being one of your blatant misreads).

Finally, you tricked many voters not once but twice in becoming President of the United States. The second time is baffling! I don’t know how the press let you get away with scoffing at Mick Romney when he declared that Russia was our enemy; that, after you were recorded smugly informing Putin that you could be more flexible. Then you go along with the lie about Benghazi and a video!

Yes, Mr. President you could teach Mr. Copperfield a trick or two.

·       Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Democrats are “simply not up to the task” of defeating the terrorist network, pointing to Mr. Obama’s recent comment that the Islamic State was “contained” and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton’s remark in a debate that the war on the extremist group “cannot be an American fight. From day one, President Obama and Hillary Clinton underestimated the threat of ISIS,” Mr. Priebus said, using an acronym for the jihadi militants. “We need new leadership, and we need it now.” See obama-no-credible-intelligence-of-imminent-attack

·       Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich will present oral arguments before the United States Supreme Court in the Harris v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (AIRC) on Dec 8, after the high court approved a motion to participate earlier today. The case focuses on whether the AIRC violated the U.S. Constitution when drawing legislative district lines in 2010. Brnovich will represent the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, arguing that among other issues, the AIRC’s final maps created inequality in many districts, and undermined the “one-person, one-vote” principle.

“Arizonans expect fair elections,” said Brnovich. “The AIRC violated the U.S. Constitution’s Equal Protection clause and the trust of the voters by drawing maps that devalue their votes.”  This case is on appeal at the Supreme Court after a District Court upheld the maps. The dissenting opinion in the lower court case declared that the evidence showed systematic population inequality in the legislative district maps, and that the AIRC acted intentionally in seeking that inequality.   “As a former federal prosecutor and as Arizona’s elected attorney, it’s my responsibility to defend the voters in court," added Brnovich. "This case cuts to the core of American democracy  –  that every person’s vote matters as much as the next, no matter where you’re from.” U.S. Supreme Court’s Order here:

·       Sen Candidate Alex Meluskey: While we come together with family and friends around the Thanksgiving table, let us all thank God for the blessing of living in the greatest country in the world. Today, I am most thankful for my family, my God, my country, and the brave men and women of the armed forces who cannot be with their families today. America was founded on the idea that we all have a sacred duty to participate in our republic, I believe that is the only way we make it a stronger country for future generations.

As we thank God for the blessings bestowed upon us, let us also remember the words of General George Washington on the first official Thanksgiving: “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”  washington-on-thanksgiving  May God bless you, your families and your children today—and may he forever shed his magnificent grace on the United States of America.

To Whom It May Concern:

I live within close proximity to the Cholla, Coronado, and Springerville Generating Stations,  and I oppose to the EPA’s so-called ‘Clean Power Plan’ (CPP).

The CPP is a deliberate attempt to illegally and perhaps unconstitutionally circumvent Congress to establish a national energy policy that will result in the closure of our coal-burning electricity plants. This effort has the potential to threaten the viability of Cholla, Coronado and Springerville, with negative impacts for my community.

For nearly four decades, these plants have provided Arizona with a affordable, reliable power, and played a major role in Arizona’s growth for the last three decades.

These plants have provided my region with nearly incalculable economic and social benefits that the EPA has chosen to ignore. EX: Cholla Station has provided:

·       Employment of nearly 300 residents with secure, high-paying jobs

·       $29 million in annual payroll

·       $30 million in products and services

·       $15 million in state, local, and federal taxes

These power plants are major contributors to local public services and constitute the largest sources of tax revenue for their local counties and school districts - helping to pay for K-12 education, roads, public safety, and criminal justice services.

How can the EPA justify implementation of a rule that has the potential to prematurely close these plants? If the public health impact of so-called pollutants like carbon is the primary driver of the CPP, I would like the EPA to know that I have not suffered any health effects as a result of my proximity to either of these plants. No one in my family suffers from asthma, or any other lung or respiratory diseases that environmentalists claim are caused by coal-burning power plants.

The CPP is an attack on coal and on rural America. Closure of coal plants across the country will primarily impact rural communities that have relied on coal plants for employment and tax revenue.

I implore the EPA to reconsider its hazardous and destructive CPP. Revise the rule to allow existing coal plants to remain operational for the remainder of their useful lives. Even better, reverse the rule entirely and stop the attacks on rural America.
