·         Rasmussen Report: Americans Continue To Strongly Support The Celebration Of Christmas In Public Schools, Places That Most Already Believe Lack Enough Religion. Read More

·         Sunday on 60 Minutes, President Obama’s Director of National Drug Control Policy Michael Botticelli told Scott Pelley that legalizing marijuana is “bad public health policy.” "I find it telling that those within the Obama Administration who have responsibility for carrying forward a responsible national drug policy see the folly of legalizing marijuana,” Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery said. “Aside from my concurrence with Director Botticelli’s conclusion, the President would do well to listen.”  From the interview:

·         Columnist Frosty Wooldridge  … “Your citizen responsibility -- calls your senators and House rep: 1-202-224-3121. Demand a stop to all immigration and a stop to any Syrian immigration. Definition of slogan: "Immigration Shutdown Now means the American people want a total shutdown on all legal and illegal immigration. That means we want all illegal immigration stopped by arresting, prosecuting and jailing employers of illegal aliens. We deport all illegal aliens by taking their jobs away and as we catch them. We want English mandated as our national language. We demand a cessation of Muslim immigration in order to protect our culture, language and way of life. We can’t save the world but we can destroy our civilization. We demand a stable population that allows everyone to live, work and thrive into the 21st century. Especially our children. If you don’t want a Paris, France or San Bernardino event in your community, it’s time to call for a total “Immigration Shutdown Now.”   “You need to take action. We must force Congress into an “Immigration Shutdown Now!” –See full article America Losing Her Ethos:  Why Trump Rises
·         Lyle J. Rapacki Of Sentinel Intelligence Services:  Mychal Massie is a friend, and someone I have enjoyed appearing with on several occasions as we followed one another on stage at speaking engagements.  His column, My Daily Rant, is available below for your review.  I thought Mychal’s topic particularly timely given the Republican Presidential Debate this evening in Las Vegas.  I am beginning to think if Jihad doesn’t do us in as a country, political correctness will!  It appears a day is quickly coming when we will be furnished talking points of the day via email so we can navigate our conversations for that day without running afoul of the political correct police.  How our Founders would be so appalled if they were here today.  I thought you might enjoy reading Mychal’s Daily Rant, and you can freely receive it by simply signing up.   My Daily Rant today is:  'Priebus and Ryan Curtsey to Muslims'

·         Get-Ready-For-The-Marco-Rubio-Freak-Out-By-The-Establishment: It is already happening, but expect it to escalate. Just a few days ago, National Review reported that Republicans in Iowa are mad at Rubio because of his weak ground game…  Expect the media speculation about Rubio’s strategy to intensify over the next few weeks as the Establishment worries more and more.

·         House Speaker Paul Ryan told Republican members that congressional leaders reached an agreement on a $1.1 trillion bill to fund the government through September, setting up votes later this week, according to multiple GOP sources. The deal comes to light as presidential candidates vie for attention in the year's final Republican debate.

·         Correction:   Linda Brickman’s MCRC Member-at-Large candidacy announcement in the Sunday, Dec 13 Briefs reads that she and Robert (Bob) have been married 21 years.  My typo.  They have been married 32 years.  – ft

·         Tucson Activist Bill Heuisler: We are a political family; we can argue among ourselves about a Republican replacement for (John) McCain, but we cannot allow his coming campaign to succeed.
Please create an email list among your friends of 20 or so Conservative potential Primary Voters and list them as a “Group” in your email address book. Then you can pass on vital political messages we all agree on that will rid Arizona of our Conservative-hating Senator. And (if enough of us create/join a Conservative “email tree”) our spreading list of email messages will reach most Arizona Primary Voters in only minutes.
Think about the math. A 100 x 20, times 20, times 20 etc. and we’ve covered most Arizona Republican Primary voters without spending a dime.
McCain has millions he will spend on TV radio and print, but we Conservatives can match his money with our communication network – our email tree. We will be able to “Get Out The Vote” all over Arizona in an hour or less.
Read articles in the Arizona Daily Independent and the Arizona Freedom Alliance and Seeing Red AZ (and others you suggest) and comment to all of us in your family. Let’s all join the political “family” for nine months and Argue Politics Together around our email “dinner table”.   Suggestions? Criticisms?  Contact: Bill Heuisler, Tucson  520-403-2939

·         Congressman  Matt Salmon (AZ-05) today announcing his bill that would ensure the Department of Homeland Security adequately vets the social media trails of foreign nationals requesting admission to the United States. “With the shocking revelation that the U.S. government’s ‘stringent vetting’ failed to stop at least one of the San Bernardino shooters, Americans are rightly questioning the thoroughness of those investigations.  One of the most concerning flaws in our system is the lack of a legal requirement to vet the previous public positions of foreign nationals when they request entry.  The Vet Electronic Trails Act, which I will soon introduce, will codify in law the commonsense requirement that our immigration officers analyze the social media postings of potential entrants to the United States before allowing them access to our shores.”

·         Congresswoman Martha McSally today led a bipartisan group of 43 lawmakers on a letter to Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter outlining concerns that female guards could be prohibited from transporting detainees at Guantanamo Bay. The letter, which was also co-authored by U.S. Representatives Bill Shuster (R-PA), Susan Davis (D-CA), Rick Larsen (D-WA) follows a petition by five detainees, including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who have said contact with female guards violates their religious beliefs. “It has come to our attention that five ‘high value’ detainees at Guantanamo Bay have petitioned to permanently restrict female service members from assignments related to their detention,” the lawmakers said in the letter. “We believe these positions should remain open to women, regardless of the religious beliefs of the detainees. Prohibiting women from these assignments discriminates against our troops and allows the enemies of the United States to dictate the terms on which American citizens serve their country…While the United States should make certain allowances with respect to human rights, we must not compromise our basic principles at the behest of the very individuals who seek to destroy them.” The letter is endorsed by Women In International Security and the Service Women’s Action Network. See letter Here.

·         U.S. Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on the formation of a 34-Muslim nation counterterrorism alliance: “The fact that senior Administration officials were totally unaware of plans to form a counterterrorism alliance by 34 Muslim nations reflects the diminishing influence of the United States and the erosion of confidence of our closest Arab partners in America’s leadership under this Administration. This alliance is a potentially consequential development in the global fight against terrorism, and I commend Saudi Arabia’s leadership in bringing this group together. After years of strategic drift in the Middle East, I urge the Administration to offer its full support to this alliance and renew efforts to integrate Sunni Arab nations into a comprehensive strategy to destroy ISIL and other terrorist groups.”

·         Senator John McCain introduced legislation today that would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to search social media websites and publicly available information of prospective foreign travelers or immigrants seeking to enter the United States. The legislation follows reports that Tashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino attackers, passed three background checks to obtain a U.S. visa despite having made statements in support of violent Islamic extremism on social media, because DHS does not routinely review social media platforms as part of its background check process.
“Following the tragedy in San Bernardino, we have learned that the Obama Administration has declined to review information available on social media platforms to screen for threats from foreign nationals seeking to enter the United States,” said McCain. “This purposeful refusal to examine publicly available information defies belief, especially as we grapple with complex technical questions to address the problem of criminals and terrorists ‘going dark,’ or utilizing readily available encryption to escape court-ordered government search. It is unacceptable that Congress has to legislate on this, and that it wasn’t already the Department of Homeland Security’s practice to take such commonsense steps when screening individuals entering this country. This is just the latest, unfortunate example of this Administration’s refusal to proactively address very real threats to our national security. It is critical that we have the strongest policies and procedures in place for background checks that reflect the evolving security threats facing our nation.”

·         LD21 Senate Debbie Lesko: Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, And Best Wishes For 2016!
The Secret To Happiness: I recently heard a speech based on research that determined that people who are thankful are happier.
I believe they are right.
I am thankful for what God has given me,
I am thankful for my family,
I am thankful for my job that gives me an opportunity to make a difference,
And I am thankful for YOU!
Whether you celebrate Christmas, celebrated Hanukkah, or celebrate another Holiday….Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season and a Wonderful New Year!
My Vacation to Israel: My husband and I recently returned from a personal vacation to Israel. The trip was historic, spiritual, and impactful.  We visited Biblical sites, toured areas overlooking the Lebanon and Syrian borders, went inside a bomb shelter near the Gaza Strip that also served as school playground equipment, touched the Western Wall in Jerusalem, went into Palestinian territory when visiting Bethlehem, listened to a speech at an ancient amphitheater built by King Herod, and sailed the Sea of Galilee.
Unlike what many may think, we felt safe in Israel.  The security there is tight, almost everyone is a veteran since all men and women have to serve 2-3 years in the military, and one of the hotels we stayed at was housing a bunch of soldiers carrying their M-16’s. Eating buffet breakfast and riding on a hotel elevator with young men and women carrying rifles was a new experience for me!
Like all vacations, I am now happy to be home.  I am thankful that I was able to visit Israel and I am thankful that I get to celebrate Christmas with my family and friends.  The Legislative Session starts January 11th.   I’ve been busy working for months.  I’m sure I’ll have a lot of news for you in my next update. Together, we can make a difference.
