Former County Attorney Rick  Romley: In the Republican Briefs dated 1/1/16, a column was written by Gordon Brown who currently serves as Chair for the Veterans for Melunsky.  In it he states that when he asked Senator McCain about why there are so many problems with the VA the Senator responded: “Sir you did a job, you got paid for it.  What more do you want?”
Let me first acknowledge that I serve as a co-chair of the Veterans for McCain and am truly honored to do so. With that said, I could not allow such a statement to go unanswered.  I have known Senator McCain for 30 years and during that time the senator has always been at the forefront fighting for our veterans. I know this firsthand and for Mr. Brown to say otherwise is just plain false. In fact, I would challenge Mr. Brown to produce any evidence that would prove that Senator McCain is not the most supportive senator for veterans in Congress. Otherwise, I would demand an apology and urge Mr. Brown to be careful with the hyperbole. Veterans know the truth and he is just hurting his candidate with such outrageous statements.

SaddleBrooke Republican Club will meet at 5 pm., Wed., Jan 13 in the Ballroom in HOA#2.  Doors up at 3:30 pm.  Sierra Vista resident Colonel Thomas M. Finnegan, US Army (Retired), will address the group. Finnegan has served on the Board at the Fort Huachuca 50 since 1994.  The Fort Huachuca 50 is a community-based organization founded in 1987 to support the viability of Fort Huachuca for the future.  He served two tours in the Republic of Vietnam and served in a variety of command and staff assignments prior to his retirement in 1993.  From 1994 until his retirement in 2007 he was the Program Manager for L-3 Communications in Sierra Vista. Microsoft to Warn Email Users About Government Hack Attacks  Microsoft Corp. said on Wednesday it will begin warning users of its email service when the company suspects that a government has been trying to hack into their accounts. Microsoft told Reuters about the plan in a statement. It comes nine days after Reuters asked the company why it had decided not tell victims of a hacking campaign, discovered in 2011, that had targeted international leaders of China's Tibetan and Uighur minorities in particular.

Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson has announced that the Mohave County Recorder’s Office and the Mohave Museum located in Kingman have been working for the past six months to obtain grant money to help preserve a little piece of county history.  “The county has been working with the museum to preserve their collection of old county maps as well as digitize them and bring them over to the county facility where they will be in a more climate controlled environment,” Johnson said.  “So far $6100 in grant money has been secured by the County Recorder’s Office to go towards this project.”
