US Sen Candidate Kelli Ward: In just a couple of days, we’ll be off to DC for the Conservative Political Action Conference, where we'll continue to lead the charge against the Establishment. While at the conference, we'll meet and speak with countless folks who share our vision for renewed leadership in America -- bold, fresh, and fearless. Our momentum will only grow stronger as our message spreads nationwide. It's a big week -- but we'll need help getting our message to as many people as possible. chip in?Just a couple of dollars will help us with the daily expenses it takes to get our message out on the ground and keep the momentum going. People are ready for change, and this week in DC will be instrumental in taking our message nationwide. Together, we'll have folks leaving CPAC ready to spread the word all over the country.

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after joining with Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) for a third time in sending a letter to the Director of the National Park Service and the Keeper of National Register of Historic Places requesting the park service formally withdraw the nomination of land in Pinal County, Arizona known as “Oak Flat” from consideration for listing in the National Register of Historic Places: “Despite repeated bipartisan demands for transparency and adequate public notice, there still appears to be a deceptive effort underway by anti-mining opponents and the Park Service to block the bipartisan Southeast Arizona Land Exchange that was signed into law in December of 2014. Dale Miles, a member of the San Carlos Tribe and the former tribal historian, stated in an op-ed featured in the Arizona Republic that Oak Flat has never been a sacred site. As the formal tribal historian, he can say with absolute certainty that this small, poorly-maintained campground has never been a historic place and shouldn’t be listed as one. “Designating the land acquired by a private company through a bipartisan land exchange as a historic place could limit public access and undermine a copper mining project that is projected to create nearly 3,700 jobs and generate $60 billion for Arizona’s economy. Even worse, the complete lack of detail and lack of notice at every stage of these filings has made it impossible for Arizonans who may be affected to participate in the public comment process. Waiting more than three weeks to provide public notice and only allowing five days for public comment following that publication isn’t going to cut it. We will continue to fight this misguided listing effort at each and every turn.”

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on today’s court-ordered release of Hillary Clinton’s emails: “On more than 2,000 occasions, Hillary Clinton recklessly jeopardized our national security and sensitive diplomatic efforts by using a secret, unsecure email server to send and receive classified material, including ‘Top Secret’ intelligence. This was information so sensitive, its exposure potentially put lives at risk. Clinton’s unprecedented email arrangement was a clear attempt to skirt government transparency laws and place her political interests ahead of those of the American people. This egregious error in judgment coupled with Clinton’s arrogant and dishonest claims to have followed the rules that she forced all other employees to follow should disqualify her from the presidency.”

Arizona Schools Will Recognize National School Breakfast Week between Feb. 29 and Mar. 11, according to Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas. “When children arrive at school hungry and don’t eat a healthy meal until lunch, they face an uphill battle as they try to learn,” said Douglas. “A nutritious breakfast can improve focus in the classroom and help students perform better. That’s why we are excited to participate in National School Breakfast Week and highlight the healthy breakfasts that are available every morning in schools across Arizona.” In Arizona, over 1,600 schools offer students the opportunity to start the day with a healthy meal. School breakfasts include whole-grain rich grain items like bagels, reduced-sugar cereals, and whole grain cinnamon rolls or muffins, 1 cup of fruit, and a variety of milk. Most school breakfasts cost less than $2, and families with income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level can apply through their school to receive free or reduced-price meals. Families are encouraged to contact their school cafeteria managers or district food service directors to apply for these meal benefits.

160229-0730 – Special AZRRT Update - HB2023 – Ballot Harvesting Jose Borrajero Additional information has surfaced about the vulnerability of ballots that are placed in the hands of members of organizations with an agenda. It is now obvious that individuals or groups who wish to do mischief have an easier task than we had suspected. Details arizona-ballot-harvesters-can-benefit-from-cheap-stationary HB2023 Passed in the House with support from all Republicans, except for Heather Carter, who voted with Democrats against it. It has moved to the Senate and has passed out of the Government Committee, again with support from all Republicans. It is now awaiting action in the Rules committee and further Senate action. It is extremely important that everyone reading this material contact every senator and request support for HB2023. You can be assured that the other side is diligently requesting defeat! At this time, RTS testimony is not allowed because the bill is no longer in committee. But we can still use the other methods of communication, namely e-mails, phone calls, and faxes. LD2l Sen Debbie Lesko’s Legislative Update: I am very pleased that my pension reform legislation, SB1428, passed out of the legislature with bipartisan support, was signed by the governor, and will be on the May 17 ballot.  After one year of negotiations with fire fighter and law enforcement associations, Republican and Democratic legislators, cities, counties, and the governor’s office we got it done.  This reform will help sustain the retirement system for our fire fighters and police and save taxpayers over $1.5 billion.  I highly encourage you to vote yes on May 17. I’m thankful to my fellow senators for unanimously supporting my legislation, SB1142, to help the Department of Child Safety reduce the backlog in inactive and uninvestigated cases. These cases stem from complaints of child abuse and neglect and we need to know if these children are safe.  The legislation requires the department to outsource the backlogs to professional private providers.  At the end of December 2015, there were over 13,000 backlogged cases even though the legislature appropriated $45 million over the last 2 years to solve the problem.  This legislation will help reduce the backlog and allow DCS caseworkers the time to investigate new complaints. SB1241, my legislation to prohibit photo radar cameras on state highways, passed out of the Senate and will be heard in the House this week.   There are only two cameras left on state highways.  One on Grand Ave. placed there by the City of El Mirage and the other on Hwy 260 east of Payson placed there by the Town of Star Valley.  Constituents in my district have overwhelmingly told me they oppose photo radar on state highways. I believe the legislature, not the cities, should determine if photo radar belongs on state highways. Contact: or 602-926-5413.   I love my job and I’d love to hear from you.
