4-17-16 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor - Frosty Taylor or   Web Master John Strasser

Tyler Bowyer, Chairman, Republican Party of Maricopa County: My Fellow Patriot Precinct Committeemen - PC Affidavits and Petitions should be turned in beginning May 2nd to the County Recorder’s office. Your District Chairman should also have a person assigned to collecting these for you. Signature requirements vary by precinct, with the maximum being 10. Please see the requirements at the following address: You may also find the Nomination Form and Petition document at the County Recorders site: Feel free to email me with any additional questions!

A Petition Calling For The Resignation Of AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham started circulating in Arizona Republican circles Friday morning. See Demand-AZGOP-Chair-Robert-Grahams-Resignation The petition reads:” AZGOP Graham has

Shown over and over he's above the law and has no moral or ethical compass.

He violates State Statutes, the State Bylaws, Robert's Rules of Order, snubs County party Chairmen and disenfranchises precinct committeemen.

He has extorted fees from state delegates to the state Republican Convention.

He demands $1000 donation to AZGOP or he will deny seating delegates to the National Republican Convention because he is incapable of raising money for the party, thereby denying some of the hardest workers in the AZ Republican party the ability to be delegates. These are the people who stuff envelopes, knock on doors, make phone calls and recruit new precinct committeemen to grow the party.

He takes his orders from Sen. McCain. Graham has a blatant disregard for the will of the Republican voters in Arizona.

He has used trickery, cheating and McCain money to bypass the party faithful and the voters.

He continues to break all rules of proper conduct, mislead precinct committeemen about the facts and shows a Messianic attitude toward the very people who make the party relevant in Arizona - precinct committeemen and voters.

Therefore, we the undersigned, petition for the immediate resignation of AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham as unfit for the office. Please sign this Petition to be presented at the Arizona State Convention. Stand with We the People against the power brokers of Arizona.”

And What Exactly Does a Delegate Get For The $4,000 Fee? Briefs sent a note to AZGOP Friday afternoon asking for a complete breakdown on what the $4,000 covers, but hasn’t received an answer at post time.

Yavapai County PC R. A. Hennessey II: Though I fully agree with the Petition against Robert Graham I believe the fix is in. Robert and the power's to be will not allow any Resolution to come to the floor at the State Convention, just like they blocked the same Resolution at the State Committee meeting. They will use the same Parlimentarian to stop anything to disrupt their political agenda.

She is responsible for administering the Elections Department which conducts all national, state and county wide elections, and provides support for cities, towns, school districts, special districts, and other jurisdictions. Under Purcell’s guidance, the Recorder’s office has received many achievement awards for Digital Recording, use of the internet in the redistricting process, a special achievement GIS award from Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), and the introduction of the Interactive Recording KIOSK, the first of its kind in the country. AzCDL Legislative Report: The Legislature is still haggling over the budget.  It looks like this is going to drag on for at least another week. On April 12, the House Democrats took a break from jawboning about the budget to complain about the decades-old practice of allowing legislators to carry firearms in the Capitol. Their solution? Propose a rule change on the floor to forbid it. view video .  The debate on the firearms rule starts around the 1:05 hour mark.
SB 1257, AzCDL-requested bill would exempt CCW permit holders from being disarmed when entering state and local government controlled property unless everyone entering is screened for weapons, passed out of the House Rules Committee on April 13.  The next steps for SB 1257 are a House Committee of the Whole (COW) hearing and, assuming it passes out of COW, a Third Read vote.  None of that is expected to happen until the Legislature is finished wrangling over the budget.

SB 1266, would allow for injunctions, fines and civil suits when state agencies or local governments disregard state firearm preemption statutes, needs to pass a House Third Read floor vote before going to the Governor.
send letter in support.
HB 2081, would prohibit checking with any federal (e.g., NICS) or state database on private property transfers, needs to pass a Senate Third Read floor vote before being sent to the Governor.

HB 2338, the AzCDL-requested bill would prohibit the governing boards of educational institutions from banning firearms on public rights of way, such as city streets and sidewalks that happen to pass through campuses, needs to pass a Senate Third Read floor vote before being sent to the Governor.
send letter.
HB 2524, the AzCDL- bill would establish an interstate compact that restricts member states from enacting firearms transfer requirements that are more restrictive than existing federal law, needs to pass a Senate Third Read floor vote before being sent to the Governor.

“Too Often, Entrepreneurs Are Forgotten Heroes. We rarely hear about them. But look into the heart of America, and you'll see them. They're the owners of that store down the street, the faithful who support our churches, schools, and communities, the brave people everywhere who produce our goods, feed a hungry world, and keep our homes and families warm while they invest in the future to build a better America.” - Ronald Reagan 5/14/1983

Gilbert Watch Blogger Anita Christy: The Schools' War on Arizona's Children: Part 2 Online Charter Schools. Some Arizona parents, disgusted with the diabolical determination of their local schools to bully their children into taking the highly controversial AzMERIT exam, are considering online education for their children.  Think again.  Online charter schools are worse.  The extra harsh treatment is completely legal, based on ARS 15-808(B). The online charters are merely "following orders" as dictated by Arizona's legislators"If a pupil fails to comply with the testing requirements and the school administers the tests pursuant to this subsection to less than ninety-five percent of the pupils in Arizona online instruction, the pupil shall not be allowed to participate in Arizona online instruction." According to Facebook comments from several parents who refused to allow their children to take AzMERIT, their children were "locked out" of learning.  They couldn't log on to their computers.

Gilbert Watch Blogger Anita Christy: Hey Senators Against Parents! No Respect! Youtube Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT. These Senators want parents to respect and vote for them?  Why, when they disrespect and sneer at parents?  They voted against parental authority when they voted NO on SB1455, giving parents the RIGHT to opt their children out of unvalidated, worthless, psychologically damaging, expensive statewide assessments!

State Dept Seeks To Pick Up Pace on bringing Syrian refugees to US; The State Department is hoping to bring an average of nearly 1,500 Syrian refugees to the United States per month in order to meet President Obama's target of settling 10,000 refugees in the country by September. Yet the settlement has provoked a significant backlash, mostly from Republicans, who argue it puts the U.S. at risk from terrorism…Read the full story here

Christmas Dropped As Official Holiday. Officials in this self-proclaimed "secular state" were only trying to "control the rising number of public holidays" when they nixed Christmas from the government-approved list. But they weren't total scrooge's -- if you belong to a different faith there are still 83 other officially recognized religious events. Isn't "diversity" grand? Read more
