AZGOP Graham’s Trump-Train Robbery At State Convention “Every Trump supporter knew it was coming.  Trump campaign manager, Charles Munoz, was all too cozy with Robert Graham, a known Anyone but Trump fan.  No one understood just how corrupt the pair would be at this convention. It all started at 7am when the Trump campaign arrived at the Convention Center to find that their Trump slate was actually packed with Cruz supporters.  Upon inquiring how this could happen, we were told the Trump campaign signed off on a completely different slate and gave it to R Graham to print.  Lists don't change themselves so it seemed clear that Graham had changed the slate after it was signed off on by the Trump camp.  With the help of Munoz??  Hmmm. One entire Congressional District was Cruz supporters masquerading on the Trump slate!...”   see full story

Another-Glitch: Former-Gov-Jan-Brewer-Trump-Supporter-Removed-Az-Delegate-Ballot Donald Trump won the Arizona Republican primary with 47% of the vote to second place Ted Cruz with 25%. Trump won all 58 delegates in Arizona. But that didn’t stop the Cruz campaign and GOP elites from coming in and poaching all of the delegates at today’s state convention. The Cruz camp and GOP elites call this a “good ground game.” Even former Governor Jan Brewer, an outspoken Trump supporter, had her name removed from the online ballot and did not make the cut.

Former Gov Jan Brewer: “I've been elected to 5 straight National Conventions. Today, I got cheated. @realDonaldTrump got cheated at AZ Convention. Shameful!!! …My name was "mysteriously" removed off @realDonaldTrump online ballot. Today's electronic vote full of glitches and errors. Cheated today.”

LD21 PC Dr. Kathryn J French: I have written a letter to Robert Graham regarding the electronic voting and Trump slate delegates who were left off the ballot Saturday.  Already I am hearing from people on the street that it is the party trying to steal the election from Trump. It is already on Drudge and the front page of the AZ Republic. The electronic voting holds promise. Further, it could be used to correct this problem. All of the Delegates who were credentialed for the electronic vote are known to the Committee. They could recreate the voting slates and allow credentialed delegates to vote online. It will take a step to two to verify that the person voting is the delegate, but it is possible. As a long time educator at the college level, we have been using such methods for years. I would encourage you to encourage, or demand, that the committee have a re-vote. It is doable, they should have the money to make it happen, and it is necessary. Whether you support Trump, Cruz, Kasich, or none of the above, this could happen to us again in the future. It could also quickly remove the egg off the face of both the AZ GOP Committee and AZ GOP.

Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past AZGOP Chairman: As the dust begins to settle from the Arizona Republican Convention on Saturday 4-30-16 - a day which, in the minds of us Trump supporters, will live in infamy - the reality of the ‘sneak attack’ is setting in.  The Cruz campaign, caught us ‘asleep’, in port, and they bombed the living hell out of us.  Now that there’s not much left of the Trump Fleet in tact in Arizona, the question I’m asking myself is, “What just happened”?  Well, in truth, it wasn’t as surprising to me, because I have seen this coming for quite a while and was treated like “Chicken Little”  when trying to sound the alarm to the Trump Campaign.  Donald Trump is not a politician (thank God) so he does not understand the depths of unprincipled water the Establishment is capable of reaching.  He is, unquestionably a brilliant man, who trusts people because he believes in them.  Unfortunately, the people he trusts are in the business world.  The people he is dealing with now, are in the world of politics, where many can’t even spell the word “Principled” much less understand it.  What I would say to those in the Cruz Campaign, whom I am certain are celebrating this victory, is that I believe that, the true irony in all this will play out in Cleveland, when they realize that they have been played by the Establishment Elite. Those who have used them to try to stop Trump, and use the very tactics they, the Cruz Campaign, used as they defeat their candidate and replace him with their Establishment choice. When I was Arizona State Republican Chair, and Mitt Romney won the Primary, I immediately threw the state party behind him because he was the people’s choice.  What happened here, yesterday? Not that.

Former LD16 Chairman Jerry Clingman:  I want to personally thank all those Cruz, Kasich ,establishment and crook supporters for taking up the burden and paying the $250, 000+ costs to go to Cleveland and vote for Trump. (The combined expenses of the chosen delegates 58 X $5000, not including  alternates  equals $290,000.) Many of us had issue w/ the $50 - then $ 1000 being charged. With this bunch, who knows what is next. As for grass roots I didn't see many elected. I have fought and fought for maybe 30 years to remove the alleged crooks from the AZGOP. After all that time it has only gotten worse, now corruption has invaded the lowest level, the LD. Procedures and Bylaws have been routinely violated w/ abandon. These violations reflect on the body that let these actions continue. I live my life w/ rules of right and wrong, The Ten Commandments, the Constitution, natural law and my word is my bond. I have never been part of an organization that is this corrupt. In good conscience I don't know that I can continue to support this organization. -  Clingman was the LD 16 Chairman 2012-2014

Timothy Schwartz, LD30 1st Vice Chair: Saturday's election was NOT a fair election. It was abundantly obvious that Donald Trump supporters showed up in about the same ratio as Arizona's voters on March 22nd. It appeared that there were almost twice as many for Trump as there were for Senator Cruz. So how in the world did Cruz win the lion's share of National Delegates?

In the morning's elections, Maricopa County's voting machines were on hand. But in the crucial voting for the afternoon, those machines were nowhere to be found. The County's voting machines allow the voting to be verified if the process is contested. We can always go back and hand-count the paper ballots to verify the vote. But the crucial afternoon voting was done online (smartphones or laptops). Individuals could have a record on their device of how they voted, but there is no way to verify with officials and manually count all the ballots to certify the election. Trump should have walked away with the delegate count, yet he did not.

Why wasn't this very important election conducted on the machines that were already in the building - which would have provided a paper trail?

An outsider parliamentarian was brought in to conduct the meeting -- a violation of the rules. When several members called out "point of order" to express their concerns, they were shut down -- also a violation of the rules. There should have been a microphone in the aisle for members to voice a grievance that the rules were not being followed. The grievance must be heard, an answer given, and then a vote taken after a motion to entertain followed by a second. Instead, they were improperly ruled out of order and then a verbal threat was made from the podium that those who objected would be removed from the room.

UPDATE: Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell told the Briefs this morning, “we were asked to conduct the elections for National Committeeman and Woman, the delegates from the Congressional Districts and the delegates at large.  We prepared the ballots for the Committee Man and Woman, the Congressional districts but informed the party that because of the high volume of candidates for the at large positions, our system was not able to count that category.  I authorized the moving of our machines because our portion was finished and it was necessary that the equipment be secured.”   - ft

Diane Ortiz-Parsons: Thank you to the many Credential Volunteers at the State Convention on Saturday. We had over 80 volunteers. Your experience and willingness to do anything and everything to ensure the meeting would begin on time was commendable. A special shout out to Brenda Dickinson and her team from Yavapai County, Kay Reardon and her crew from LD16, and Chairmen Shadow Asgari, Mickie Niland, Raymond Jones, Mary Fritsche, Naomi Kruse, Jim O’Connor, Ian Murray and their LD credentialing teams. Also, thank you to all the State Members-At-Large and the Ludwig family for their assistance. If I missed anyone, my apologies. This event’s success was a group effort. Thank you, Mary Fritsche - for being the Credentials Deputy, Jessica Merrow - my Volunteer Extraordinaire, and Katherine Garriss - our Breakfast Coordinator. If I ever need to pick a team to carry the Party, you would all be a part of my National Team!

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ely: It should be obvious that some politicians elected by majority vote were, and are unsatisfactory, from someone’s point of view. It seems that a government of the people, for the people and by the people has vanished.  Today’s Arizona Daily Star front page article should make it clear that the will of WE THE PEOPLE doesn’t count in Arizona.  cruz-wins-delegate-tug-of-war-at-arizona-convention. Trump won the presidential vote in Arizona by over 100,000 votes, 46% to 28%. In state, city, county, state or federal Primary’s, if there are more than two running for the same office and one doesn’t garner the majority of votes, why can’t we vote again?  Like the convention?  While all delegates must vote for Trump on the first ballot (at the national), if Trump doesn’t get the 1237 he needs to win - then it is up to the 58 delegates, not the hundred of thousand of voters, who decides for Arizona. In the article it is stated, “Delegates from Pima and Cochise counties selected former state legislator Frank Antenori, state Sen. Gail Griffin and former congressional candidate Gabby Saucedo-Mercer to represent Congressional District 2. Antenori and Saucedo-Mercer are listed as delegates for Trump, while Griffin is reportedly backing Cruz.” That scenario is probably played out in most of the state of Arizona.  The burning question.  Does that represent WE THE PEOPLE or the establishment?   And do WE THE PEOPLE see this as being supportive ?  And the AZ GOP has been no help.  When the previous state chair made the last national convention, he backed WE THE PEOPLE!  If anyone thinks that the current state party chair, or any of the Crus supporters, are backing WE THE PEOPLE just reply and say so and it will be published by the Town Crier at arizonatowncrier@gmail.com

Yavapai PC Dave Hollenbeck: I was there --a State Delegate for Yavapai County. It was an exercise in endurance. Sitting and Sitting and sitting. There were about 80% Trump People there and 20% Cruz.

Blogger Barbara Espinosa: Before you go off half-cocked and sue the AZGOP because you feel cheated or got your feelings hurt because you weren't elected look at the facts. In the long run it won't make a hill of beans. The AZ delegates on the 1st ballot have to vote at the National convention based on who won the Arizona primary and that was Trump. Only way it may make a difference if it goes to a 2nd ballot. And the way it's shaking out Trump will have the delegates on the 1st ballot. A substantial win in Indiana and California will put him very close and he's polling very well in the remaining states.

  • According to 2016 Delegate Tracker Trump’s delegate count is 996
  • According to other reports it’s 1002 delegates
  • He needs 1237 to avoid a contested convention.
  • Using the 996 he needs 241 more delegates using 1002 he needs 235 more delegates
  • The remaining states that haven’t vote has a total of 571 delegates up for the taking.
  • Its estimated Trump will receive 291 of the remaining 571 delegates.
  • Using the existing number of 996 +291 =1287
  • Using the reported number of 1002 +291= 1293
  • I’m predicting he will have between 1245-1293 going into the convention.

This little ole' Texan predicts 1245-1293 delegates going into convention. There are predictions as high as 1400.

Yavapai County PC Rick Hennessey: My concerns over electronic voting have now sadly become reality. Not only was the process confusing, it was flawed at the minimum. Jeff Dewitt and the Trump Campaign should bring legal action against AZGOP as this process has proven once again how corrupt the AZ election process is. When our State Convention makes National News it is obvious we are doing something wrong.

AZ Citizens Defense League Update: The Legislature has been working on the budget for the last few weeks.  Committee of the Whole (COW) hearings and floor votes on budget bills are expected to occur this coming week.  After the Legislature passes the budget we expect them to plow through all the remaining non-budget bills then adjourn the session by the end of the week. This may be your last chance to tell your legislators to pass pro-rights legislation. If you have not sent your letters to your legislators on the bills listed below, do not wait any longer.  A few mouse clicks on your part can make the difference on whether these bills pass or not.  Doing nothing is the same as supporting their defeat. • HB 2081, which would prohibit checking with any federal (e.g., NICS) or state database on private property transfers, only needs to pass a Senate Third Read floor vote before being sent to the Governor.  send your letter to your Senator.

Trump-Haters-Protest-Donald-Topless-Bad-Naked Topless Bernie Sanders supporters crashed one of Donald Trump’s rallies — but this something you might not want to see. It’s more like something that will make you cringe.march their way through the crowds and embrace ‘Free the nipple’:

Check-Out Mexican-Flag-Waving-Thugs-At California-Trump-Rally The anti-Trump protesters, and media, would love to have you believe that they are ‘peaceful’ — but this is the harsh reality. These videos can be hard to watch for some. What would you do if you were in attendance at a Trump rally and this started happened?

Insiders Confide that the handful of RINO Republicans who joined forces with the Democrats three years ago in order to pass Obama’s Medicaid expansion plan are back. Reportedly reassembled (under the leadership of Rep. JD Mesnard), their new target is increased monies for education spending before voters get a chance to voice their opinions on Prop 123 - the initiative to inject $3.5B into K-12. It said the coalition has been stalling the budget process for over four weeks now – with the help of freshmen legislators. AZ’s House leadership team has struck multiple deals to meet the coalition’s demands but each time they reportedly come back demanding more. Conservative Republicans continue to hold the line and search for ways to make these increases “revenue neutral” but the states $600M in excess revenues are virtually spent and there’s still no deal in sight. The coalition reportedly continues to secretly meet in the House basement, along with lobbyists representing the education establishment. Lobbyists drafting amendments for their special interest clients not only corrupts the budget process, but also puts the plan for a (future) balanced budget in jeopardy. The coalition reportedly consists of JD Mesnard (LD17), Paul Boyer (LD20), TJ Shope (LD8), Heather Carter (LD15), Karen Fann (LD1), Kate Brophy McGee (LD28), Noel Campbell (LD1), Rick Gray (LD21), Regina Cobb (LD5), and Jeff Weninger (LD17). Senator Steve Pierce (LD1) – was reportedly a special guest at last Friday’s meeting. Let your legislators know how you feel about the Budget Busting Coalition. MemberRoster.

KJZZ: Cruz, Kasich Coalition Beats Trump Camp For a Majority Of Arizona National Delegates Despite Donald Trump's sweeping victory in Arizona's March presidential preference election, a contest on Saturday to elect Arizona’s national delegates to attend the Republican National Convention wound up being a victory for Trump’s opponents, who worked together to secure an overwhelming majority of the delegate slots.

Protests-Ahead-For Trump-Rally Trump will forever be a polarizing figure in the world of presidential politics, but the liberals that he upsets so frequently are taking things much too far.

ARIZONA ELECTED OFFICIAL SPEAK OUT

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Maricopa County Supt of Schools Don Covey: Increasing Number of Students Participating in Afterschool Activities - The Arizona School Tax Credit program is great. It allows a single person to donate up to $200 to the school of their choice and get the entire amount back on their state taxes ($400 for a married couple). Schools use that money to offer students extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, sports, and fine art programs. Schools also use it to fund character education programs such as bullying prevention. For many students, these opportunities are life changing. They keep students productively engaged in school and their community. In 2014 I was sad to learn that 20% of schools in Maricopa County receive 80% of tax credit donations. Many schools do not receive enough donations to offer any substantial programming. I believed if people knew about this disparity, many people would take action. Being right never felt so good! I engaged several Maricopa County and City departments to create the Award Winning, Maricopa County School Tax Credit Portal. The portal displays a map showing which schools receive the least tax credit donations. Donors that do not already have a relationship with a school can choose to donate to a school that needs it the most. Donors can then donate online using their credit card, and receive a receipt to submit with their taxes full refund of the donated amount. We raised over $30,000 in 2015. We doubled our marketing efforts this year, and so far we have received over $70,000 for after school activities. Extracurricular activities keep students engaged and stay in school. Investing in these programs will have long-lasting positive economic impact. Research shows that high student engagement results in more students graduating college and career ready. It’s good for our students and our communities.

Scottsdale City Councilwoman Virginia Korte: Tomorrow the city embarks on a project of which few people are aware -- but one that will benefit many. Improvements will begin on one of the most traveled multiuse paths in Scottsdale: the SRP canal banks between Chaparral Road and Indian Bend Wash.  Besides constructing a desert-colored concrete path and adding more landscaping along the western bank of the canal, new pedestrian bridges and enhanced crossings will be built.  There will also be an emphasis on creating more connections to nearby neighborhoods. Approximately half of the project’s funding is coming from federal grants and the remainder is being paid for with revenue from the dedicated transportation sales tax. This new project is part of the plan to create a corridor for bicyclists and pedestrians all the way from the Papago Park region, through downtown Scottsdale and eventually connecting with our McDowell Sonoran Preserve.  It is just one of the projects that is either underway or being planned to make Scottsdale more pedestrian-friendly for our residents az-canal-path. I believe it is important for us to continue developing connections between our shopping areas, restaurants, arts and cultural venues – and also our parks and neighborhoods.  Walkability is what helps make a city a community. I am committed to working with businesses, organizations and neighborhoods to increase our connections to one another in order to sustain our special quality of life.
