The US House Passed Five Of Congressman Paul A. Gosar’s amendments to H.R. 5055, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2017. Gosar said, “Once again, I am proud to strike back against the Obama Administration’s far-left anti-energy agenda by utilizing the power of the purse. The eight legislative initiatives that I successfully attached to this spending bill would effectively neuter several of the president’s top climate initiatives. Additionally, I was pleased to see the House pass one of my amendments that rejects the Obama Administration’s new climate transportation program and new $10.25 tax on crude oil. Our nation’s energy and water resources are too important to let one man, obsessed with his own legacy, unilaterally implement his misguided ideological policies. Our precious resources belong to all Americans and Congress must serve as a vigilant watchdog that holds government bureaucrats and this rogue administration accountable.” The full text of Congressman Gosar’s legislative initiatives included in H.R. 5055 can be found by clicking the links below:

WWII vets well remember Mauldin’s famous drawings “Willie and Joe” and book “Up Front” –on US servicemen in the trenches. She writes, “Actually, he was called Waddy in Mr. Mauldin's first sketches, then Willie.  Mr. Mauldin continued his relationship with my father for years; my father passed in 1971.  I then met Mr. Mauldin in 1993 at his home in Tucson.  As a result of my desire to honor my father and his association with Willie and Joe, I've become very involved in building out two historic buildings to house a military history museum, Fort Tuthill Military History Museum, in Flagstaff, AZ.  We are designing an exhibit dedicated to Bill Mauldin and would hope you can direct me to the right persons to call on for assistance.  I once had 5 original drawings signed to my father which were stolen out of his house.  I would love to find out if there are copies as well as I'm trying to locate a booklet that Mauldin using my father on the front cover.  I have contacted the 45 Division Museum and visited them and they had never seen these before, but were very interested and tried to help, but to no avail.  If you are aware of a Mauldin family member or foundation, etc. I would truly appreciate your assistance in presenting and preserving this legacy.   Contact Ft. Congressman Matt Salmon yesterday after introducing a bill to subject executive agency “guidance” to Congressional oversight. “When we watch the news at night, we see the countless ways the federal bureaucracy has involved itself in our lives.  Unfortunately, existing laws that subject rules and regulations to congressional scrutiny only apply to items called ‘rules’ or ‘regulations’.  As the President’s minions in the alphabet soup of Washington D.C. agencies increasingly issue lawless edicts termed ‘guidance’ to harass the American people, we need to extend these requirements to include all decrees from the officers of the state.” Background: The Congressional Review Act empowers Congress to review new federal regulations and vote to block the regulation. What is known today as “regulatory dark matter”, regulations that don’t go through the traditional notice and comment process, can pile up without any congressional oversight. This bill will amend the Congressional Review Act to allow Congress to overrule guidance documents through the same process.

Conservative Business Leader Christine Jones signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge today marking a sacred promise to the people of Arizona's 5th Congressional District on the issue of reducing taxes and spending. The pledge, which President Ronald Reagan popularized 30 years ago, is a promise not to raise the marginal income tax rates on individuals and businesses. The pledge also opposes any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits unless matched dollar for dollar by tax reductions. "As a successful business leader, I fully understand the adverse impact that our tax policy can have on individuals, families and businesses. I take this pledge very seriously and will do everything in my capacity to relieve the tax burden on Americans," Jones said. "The next President and Congress must confront the staggering $19 trillion national debt head-on. For far too long, the career politicians have failed to take on this crisis and the problem has only worsened," she continued. "Reducing taxes, cutting spending and lowering our national debt will be one of my highest priorities."
