Donald Trump Downplayed Ted Cruz’s decision to withhold an endorsement during his convention speech, even as the move was savaged by Trump’s allies. Trump tweeted, "Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!" New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie -- a former presidential candidate and now a Trump backer -- blasted Cruz's speech in an interview with CNN's Dana Bash. "I think it was awful," Christie said. "And quite frankly, I think it was selfish. "A lawyer for Trump, Michael Cohen, called Cruz’s speech “political suicide.” As delegates began to protest, Cruz's wife, Heidi, was heckled by Trump supporters shouting "Goldman Sachs!" and escorted out by security. She is an employee of Goldman Sachs. Cruz, who has long sought the support of GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson, was turned away when he tried to enter Adelson's suite after the rebuke, three sources told CNN. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who accepted the nomination as Trump's vice presidential nominee at the end of the session, sidestepped when asked about Cruz's speech. "I am just grateful for all the support we are receiving, and I am excited about the future," Pence said. See full coverage at CNN TV,
Ted Cruz refused to endorse Donald Trump while speaking at the Republican convention, a powerful rebuke that earned boos from the audience. Trump then disrupted Cruz's moment by appearing in the arena at the end of the speech, drawing attention away from the senator from Texas. CNN TV
If The New Black Panther Party decides to conduct armed “protests” outside the GOP convention next week, Bikers for Trump will do anything possible to make sure there isn’t any violence from armed agitators in Cleveland. Breitbart
A Trump Organization Staffer has offered her resignation for her role in Melania Trump's convention speech and the plagiarism allegations that followed. Meredith McIver was identified as the staffer. She apologized in a statement sent out by the campaign and said Donald Trump did not accept her resignation. CNN TV,
Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP: Sheriff Joe, my wife Kris and I were blessed with a meeting with Dr Ben Carson at the Republican National Convention. The good Doctor very eloquently expressed to us, his belief that Donald Trump really is the right man to lead this country back to excellence and respect for God. I was impressed by the way he engages through his ability to listen, analyze and respond. This is a very special person who has captured national attention by being a man of great accomplishments, who is strong in his faith and yet extremely humble. Dr Carson was aware of the Sheriff Arpaio's accomplishments and praised him as a strong law enforcement leader. After spending time with Dr Carson, it is easy to understand why so many people, worked so hard to make him president of our country. I have no doubt that he will have an extremely important position in a Trump cabinet because he will bring so much to the table.

Political Consultant Constantin Querard : Day Two of the Convention is in the books. Speeches and floor action was relatively muted compared to Day One, but that's pretty normal for a Day Two... Donald Jr gave a nice speech as did Tiffany Trump. I was happy to share my floor credentials with some of our alternates and guests so they could experience the floor, get some nice pictures, etc. But we still had plenty of time for fun, including some time on media row with Steve Montenegro and sharing a traditional convention style with my twin, Jeff Fleetham. He was born first by at least 20 minutes and never lets me forget it.
The First Night Of The Republican Convention held some disappointments and some wow moments. There were speeches that fell short, and there was programming that did likewise. However, there were also a few shining moments. Among the latter was a speech given by Rudy Giuliani, who asked: What happened to One America? Continued at What Happened by Roseann Salanitri
Arizona Delegation Tidbits:
Congressman Trent Franks spoke at the Republicans breakfast Wednesday morning in Cleveland.
Sen Debbie Lesko says she hasn’t seen a protestor yet.
Barbara Wyllie and Corky Haney obvious thought out their convention wardrobe well in advance. Photos from the convention floor show them in coordinated out-fits everyday so far.
It seems war hero/author Marcus Luttrell temporarily ignored the teleprompter last night and spoke from the heart in telling the public to hold elected officials accountable. Way to go Marcus.
How about the way Chris Christie whipped the convention attendees into chanting, “Lock her up, lock her up,” as he pounded on the Dems potential presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. He’s one dynamic speaker!
Observers could only chuckle while watching the background as AZGOP Robert Graham announced that the 58 Arizona delegate votes went to Donald Trump. For starters, Graham had his vice chairman Gabby Saucedo-Mercer standing right beside him as if they were best buddies. It sure looked great on TV, but we all know he barely acknowledges her presence or position in Arizona. Then to top it off, Sens John McCain and Jeff Flake weren’t even present. Seems Flake had to “mow his lawn” and McCain was making a campaign swing through northern Arizona. Nevertheless, attendees say a McCainite managed to wiggle in close behind Gabby holding a large McCain sign – making sure he got national exposure for McCain.
Briefs has received requests to post a list of the anti-Trump delegates who some feel were disruptive during the Monday session. Since there are so many new faces among the delegates, Briefs doesn’t know for sure which camp each delegate has loyalties to. The word is out that some of the anti-Trump delegates got a bit obnoxious in their unbinding delegates campaign efforts.
The word is out that AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham is campaigning hard for the chairmanship of the National Republican Committee while at the convention. Some say he had his votes lined up several months ago. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Supervisor Steve Chucri: Often campaigns are focused on the candidate and seldom mention the important people behind the scenes that make a campaign and candidate successful. Today is not one of those days. Today, I’m thanking my campaign manager, Daniel Stefanski, and congratulating him and his wife, Hannah, on the birth of their first child: Jackson Allen Stefanski. Christine and I could not be happier for this special couple and know the enormous and immeasurable joy that comes with the birth of a child... especially your first child! Veteran Bill Heuisler: Forty days left and John McCain can’t seem to do anything Right (pun intended). His people at Reform Institute in Alexandria, VA are spending his millions like water poorly produced TV ads that are so clumsily written they make us laugh. McCain ads claim former Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward has voted on Federal funding Bills in company with US Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Raul Grijalva. McCain ads also claim veterans are angry as hell at Ward because she voted against some Federal Armed Service Funding Bills. How stupid does McCain think we are? We know Bernie and Raul vote in Washington. We know Ward voted in Phoenix. We know Veterans aren’t dumb enough to confuse Phoenix with Washington DC. McCain apparently thinks Vets and Arizona Republicans are stupid. So he has people buying prime time TV spots to insult the intelligence of his Arizona Voters. Funny or pathetic? Forty Days…
Dale Gohr – Clarkdale: Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s comments against the ‘Republican presumptive presidential nominee’ sent “red flags” flying because it was totally partisan. When she called him a “faker with no consistency” she should have been looking in the mirror, because you would be hard put to find anything genuine in her commentary. Then her “unapologetic apology” was more fakery by using an old trial lawyer trick of saying something that you know will be walked back. The damage has been done; so her ‘so-called apology’ was just to take the heat off of herself for distorting the ethics that are supposed to be standards of excellence for lawyers and judges. Ginsburg’s so-called apology is nothing more than a CYA statement to make it as though she is remorseful when its’ full context precludes being repentant. The questionable apology leaves little if anything more than a politicians song and dance as portrayed in the “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” as the politician pirouetted gracefully and ‘sidestepped’ behind the Pillars singing how he could do wrongs and not get caught. Ginsburg made a quick sidestep apology and will probably be forgiven by the media. She will be praised as practical, polite and totally non-political; when in fact the attack, demagoguery and fake, insincere apology were most likely planned to be her intended gift to William J. and Hillary R. Clinton. The state of the US Judicial system today is definitely questionable at best; and willfully negligent or intentionally corrupt at worst from local and state courts thru district and Appeals Courts and up to the Department of Justice (FBI Director), the Attorney General’s Office and has infected the US Supreme Court with crony politics. One Justice choosing to play politics; can do irreparable damage to the credibility of the reputation of the Supreme Court; and I believe Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; has attained a “new low”.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering wildlife enthusiasts an opportunity to join biologists in netting bats from 7:30-10 p.m. Aug. 6 along the Verde River, north of Scottsdale. Arizona is home to 28 species of bats, many of which live and forage right in our own backyards. This event is a great way to experience these fascinating, yet often misunderstood, creatures in person. "We’ve had good luck netting bats along the Verde," said Randy Babb, watchable wildlife program manager. "We typically capture three to five species and sometimes get something unusual, which can be really exciting. Captured bats will be identified, examined and released unharmed." Babb said other species that might be encountered include snakes and other reptiles, along with owls and various rodents."It’s a really nice way to spend a warm summer evening," Babb said. The registration fee is $25 per person (10 and older). Participation is limited to 20 people. To register contact Joe Yarchin at (623) 236-7589 or email@example.com.
