Congrats to State Treasurer Jeff DeWit who has been promoted from the Arizona Campaign Chairman to the National Chief Operating Officer for the Donald Trump Presidential Campaign. "I have been proud to support Mr. Trump for President since before his candidacy was announced and am confident that his leadership is what our country needs to Make America Great Again. It is truly an honor to volunteer my time to help the campaign; it is a sacrifice my family and I are willing to make for the good of our nation's future. Over the next few months, I am looking forward to helping Mr. Trump win the Presidency and put our country back on the path to prosperity,” said DeWit in a statement released by the Trump campaign.

Congrats are also in order for LD22 Rep. Phil Lovas who replaces DeWit as the Arizona Campaign Chairman of Trump Campaign: "It's an honor to be chosen as the Arizona State Chairman for the Donald Trump campaign.  Treasurer Jeff DeWit did a fantastic job and I wish him the best as the COO for the national campaign.  We have a great team in place here and I look forward to working with them to keep Arizona in the Republican column and electing Donald Trump our next President of the United States,” said Lovas according to yesterday’s press release from the AZGOP.

AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham: This is great news for Arizona and it really shows the talent we’ve been cultivating within the party and our state is being recognized. Jeff DeWit is energetic, engaging, dedicated and loyal: he was the first statewide elected to endorse Donald Trump. And Rep. Phil Lovas, our new state chairman for the Trump for President, is an experienced leader, talented organizer, and tireless advocate for all things Republican. Both of these fine men deserve these accolades and as state party chairman I have pledged every resource and every ounce of support we have to help Donald Trump and all our Republican nominees win in November," said in a AZGOP presser.

In Just 5 Days Of Wide Release, Hillary's America has broken into the list of the top 10 political documentaries of all time, according to producer Dinesh D’Souza. He has made tickets available to Republican Clubs, church groups, or other activism organizations for group viewing. Click here for group tickets.

The 'Clinton-Cash' Documentary, - based on Peter Schweizer’s book that the New York Times called “the most anticipated and feared book of a presidential cycle” – drew 170,000 viewers in the first three premiere hours, according to Breitbart News. This documentary takes the viewer from how Bill and Hillary Clinton went from “dead broke” when they left the White House to accumulating a reported net worth of $150 million.

Time-To Say-Thank You, Goodbye-Sen-McCain Congressman Louie Gohmert: “ …John McCain was a pilot in Viet Nam and there is no question that he and his fellow POWs suffered immeasurably in the Hanoi Hilton.  For that we owe them all a debt of gratitude. Yet that does not give any one person the right to do harm to our country from a legislative position nor to put others in peril around the world by ill-conceived policy. Since I have been in Congress, Senator John McCain has pushed an agenda ranging from blanket amnesty for illegal aliens to support for President Barrack Obama’s and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s disastrous Arab Spring endeavors that have made the United States much less safe as a result. Sen. McCain has been relentless in demanding amnesty for people illegally in this country long before Barrack Obama became president. He has refused to use his vast seniority and political power to safeguard the American people by securing the border, but has, instead, been the best friend law-breaking immigrants in this country could have…” See full story - Breitbart

Former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey: For those who are wondering what is happening with Steven Seagal and my project "Shadow Wolves." It is in rewrite as a book and now being developed into a screenplay.  Taking some time but looking better and better, with each rewrite.  If it continues on its present path, the film will be shot in Arizona and New Mexico.  We expect it will be very controversial due to the subject matter which is based on today's headlines.  (Factual fiction.) Please say a prayer it stays on course.

“In A Video Teeing Up A Partisan Speech blaming Republicans for the Flint water crisis, the Democrat National Committee (DNC) cropped out footage of the city’s Democrat mayor – who has endorsed Hillary Clinton – hitting the switch that changed the city’s water source. The DNC’s selective editing is fitting for a convention about to nominate Hillary Clinton, whose public image has never been worse thanks to the record number of Americans who say she isn’t honest and trustworthy.” - Michael Short, RNC Communications/Research MShort@gop.com

First/Former LD2 Chairman Don Woolley: With the DNC parading illegal immigrants in front of the nation at their convention, this is even more relevant... LD2's J. Chris Ackerley, Kate Brophy McGee, Heather Carter, Doug Coleman, Franklin Pratt, Tony Rivero, T.J. Shope, are the AZ Leg. Republican defectors who voted against SB1377, Grant's law. Voters in all of their legislative districts, you need to think long and hard about supporting these people. They are not working to protect you, as they swore to do. A judge allowing an illegal immigrant felon probation got Grant Ronnebeck killed, over a pack of cigarettes. How do you live with yourselves? The State of Arizona had a chance to set things right, and these legislators failed the test of leadership.

AZ Corporation Commission Software Developer Jay Shi headed for Rio yesterday to compete in men’s pistol shooting in the 2016 Rio Olympics. “In both engineering and shooting, you are presented with a problem, and you have to figure it out,” said Shi. “There is always a way.” Shi had to figure out one major hurdle early in his life. Originally from Beijing, as a child, Shi moved to the United States after suffering an injury to his right eye. He was treated at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. While doctors were able to preserve his sight with an implantable lens, he is not able to focus or judge distance in that eye. It took him five years to be able to shoot well enough using his right hand and left eye. “It just proves to me and a lot of people that by working hard and never giving up so many things are possible,” he said. Shi started shooting in 2006 in an effort to compete in the 2008 Beijing games and then again in 2012 for the London games but fell short of making the teams. Shi will travel leave July 28th for Houston and then on to Rio de Janeiro. He will compete in two pistol shooting events, the 10 meter Air and the 50 meter Free. Shi and his family received a special send-off by Governor Doug Ducey this afternoon.

A Former Senior Adviser To President Obama suggested on Twitter that Democratic National Committee officials should have invited the widows of slain police officers to speak at the party's convention. CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS

300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after the U.S. Department of State (State Department) announced plans to expand the Central American Minors (CAM) program which uses taxpayer dollars to fly unlawful immigrants from Central American countries to the United States: “Rather than securing the border, the president continues to pour gasoline on our immigration crisis by making it easier for unlawful immigrants to enter the country. The Obama Administration admitted it has no clue how many unlawful immigrants from Central American countries will be flown into America as a result of expanding this unconstitutional amnesty program. This action blatantly violates federally mandated immigration caps as well as Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4 of the U.S. Constitution. The Obama Administration has tried to hide the truth about the CAM program from the American people since its inception. It has stonewalled Congressional inquiries after Americans were outraged to learn that their tax dollars were being used to fly unlawful immigrants from Central America to the United States. This expansion will allow any family member and virtually anyone claiming to be a ‘caregiver’ of an unlawful immigrant minor to receive amnesty and eventually U.S. citizenship. President Obama’s amnesty continues to undermine our national security and put the safety of the American people at risk. This obsession to erase our southern border is just another example of the president’s utter contempt for the Rule of Law and American sovereignty. Congress has never authorized or appropriated one penny for the CAM program. I call on House leadership to take action and terminate this unconstitutional program by passing the Central American Amnesty Termination Act.”

Background: Under the CAM program, the Obama Administration allows unlawful immigrants from three Central American countries to fly to the United States and be admitted into the United States. The CAM program provides cash, loans for flights, reimbursements for DNA testing, as well as medical assistance to participants in the program. CAM participants can obtain a green card within one year of receiving “refugee” status, gain citizenship after five years and are immediately eligible for taxpayer-funded benefits like Obamacare.

· On July 26, 2016, the Obama Administration expanded the CAM program to allow entire Central American families and anyone claiming to be a “caregiver” to be admitted to the U.S through this unconstitutional amnesty program.

· On April 29, 2016, Congressman Gosar introduced H.R. 5141, the Central American Amnesty Termination Act, which terminates funding for the Obama Administration’s unconstitutional Central American Minors (CAM) Refugee/Parole Program and any successor programs. The CAM program promotes lawlessness and incentivizes further illegal immigration. The full text of H.R. 5141 can be found HERE

· In March 2016, Congressman Gosar spearheaded an appropriations rider, supported by 20 members, calling on the House to defund the unconstitutional CAM program. To read more click HERE

The State Department reports that the CAM program has received applicants from more than 9,500 unlawful aliens, admitted 267 Central American alien minors and approved applications for another 2,880 unlawful immigrants. Furthermore, at least 16 parents who completed an Affidavit of Relationship under the CAM program were Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.  The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has reported that more than 40,000 unlawful immigrant minors have been apprehended at the southwest border in fiscal year 2016 alone, a 62 percent increase from last year. The Associated Press obtained information through a Freedom of Information Act request which revealed that, of the 71,000 unaccompanied alien minors placed with sponsors in the United States from February 2014 to September 2015, most of whom were from Central America, 80 percent were placed with other illegal aliens living in the United States. The Central American Amnesty Termination Act is endorsed by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and NumbersUSA. H.R. 5141 currently has 21 cosponsors including: Representatives Brian Babin, Lou Barletta, Diane Black, Dave Brat, Mo Brooks, Scott DesJarlais, Jeff Duncan, Louie Gohmert, Glenn Grothman, Tim Huelskamp, Walter Jones, Steve King, Kenny Marchant, John Mica Steve Palazzo, Mike Rogers, Dana Rohrabacher, Matt Salmon, Austin Scott, Pete Sessions and Randy Weber.

The Martha McSally for Congress Campaign today announced reserving over $350,000 in paid advertising in August. The six-figure buy will have broad reach on both broadcast and cable TV, with an emphasis on highly-rated Olympic programming. The buy also includes cable programming beyond just news as well as Pima and Cochise County radio, reaching diverse audiences across multiple networks and formats.

"Since taking office, Martha McSally has worked tremendously hard on behalf of the people of Southern Arizona, and she's already gotten an incredible amount done," said McSally Campaign Manager Weston McKee. "She successfully fought to save the A-10, worked to advance transportation infrastructure projects locally, and got a bill signed into law to ensure female WWII pilots receive the burial rights they earned - and those are just some of her accomplishments. This advertising effort will highlight Martha's calling to serve as well as her incredible record of getting results for her constituents, and we look forward to taking this positive message to voters." The multi-platform advertising buy is the McSally for Congress Campaign's first media buy of the 2016 cycle.

COUNCILMEN SPEAK

300 word limit. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: I've compiled safety tips ranging from monsoon safety to public safety. Please pass this along to your friends and family.

Driving Safety:

· Don’t enter a dust storm if you can avoid it.

· Turn headlights on and drive a slow and prudent speed.

· If you pull off the road, get as far to the right as possible.

· Turn off the car and headlights, and set the parking brake. Keep your foot off the brake pedal – other drivers may think you’re a car is moving.

In Rain:

· Rain reduces traction and causes streets to be slippery.  Slow your speed accordingly.

· Water on roads may be deeper than it looks. Watch for vehicles travelling too fast. They can throw up blinding sheets of water.

· Don’t cross rain-swollen washes. You can be caught in a flash flood that can sweep you and your vehicle away.

· Pay attention to hazard signs and roadblocks. Ignoring them threatens life and property, and can result in enforcement action by police.

· Stuck in a wash:  It is possible to lose control of a vehicle in 6 inches of water. Most vehicles will begin to float in 2 feet of water.

· If you have a phone, call 911.

· If you can, climb onto the roof and wait to be rescued.

· If the water is still low and you can wade to safety, do so, but beware of floating debris www.phoenix.gov/update

LEGISLATIVE COMMENTARY

300 word limit policy. If statement exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Senator Sylvia Tenney Allen (continued from 7-27-16 See 2016_07_26_archive ) More and more, these political subdivisions are becoming bold to implement a liberal progressive agenda because they are unhappy that voters elected principled conservatives to the Legislature. State government has a responsibility and a duty to establish statewide policy on matters that affect the entire state. Take, for example, the minimum wage and employment benefits. What would our state look like if each city or county decided that they were going to implement a different minimum wage? You would have a patchwork of employment laws that would make it harder for businesses to operate. Businesses are mobile and operate in multiple cities and counties throughout our state. It would be so burdensome to expect them to follow each political subdivision’s employment laws. The same is true for our country as a whole. If each state had its own currency like it once did, it would cause a patchwork that would make it nearly impossible to do business creating a stagnant or declining economy. When the state stands against the federal government it is due to the federal government going outside its enumerated powers listed under the US Constitution and controlling the state above what is constitutional.  The sovereign states should stand up and check the federal government, which is what the Founding Fathers envisioned.  The State also has the right to check the cities and counties who are political subdivisions when they are going outside of the enumerated powers. Cities, towns, counties and other political subdivisions play an important role for local government. It ensures that daily government can be closer to the people and reflect the needs and values of different communities. It would be counter to our conservative principles to micromanage the daily governance of local governments. But when it comes to matters of statewide concern, violations of state law or infringing on the public’s constitutional rights, the state must step in. Our system of government is made up of checks and balances to keep any one entity from creating tyranny and chaos.   Most important to understand is that we as citizens are sovereign, and we were born with basic human rights.  Government was created by the people to protect those rights.
