2016-Primary-Election Results From SOS Office

Maricopa County: City, Town And School Board Races Results

LD13 House candidate Ray Kouns got quite a surprise when he went to the polls in Aguila yesterday morning. The first voter through the door, he went through the routine to get his ballot – only to discover he had been handed a Democrat ballot by the poll worker. It seems the screen went blue when she registered him in. He immediately brought it to the poll workers attention and was given a Republican ballot… but it leaves Kouns wondering how many other voters received wrong ballots and never know the difference because they weren’t really familiar with the candidates? Kouns immediately alerted the Secretary of State’s office. SOS Michele Reagan had her hands full yesterday. The SOS office was still struggling with the new website system hours after the polls closed last night.

Some Folks Are Questioning why candidate Alex Meluskey’s pic popped up at the top of the SOS website US senate tallies early last night -- in light of Meluskey’s suspending his campaign several weeks ago. It seems Meluskey never withdraw at the SOS office, so the SOS couldn’t remove him from the candidate line up. Nor did Meluskey officially tossed his backing to second place Kelli Ward, which left some pols scratching their heads. Neither did Clair Van Steenwyk – who was running for two public offices at the same time (That’s another head scratcher – CD8 incumbent Trent Franks soundly beat Van Steenwyk again this time around)… Add up the tallies for Meluskey, Ward and Van Steenwyk and Sen John McCain still garnered more votes than the combined three challengers. Gotta hand it to Ward, she doesn’t have the name recognition nor deep pockets that McCain does, but she gave the ole fox some headaches along the way.

Voters Will Be Relieved that their phones aren’t constantly ringing with McCain pollsters for a few days. The peace and quiet won’t last long as McCain goes head to head with Demo Ann Kirkpatrick. Make no mistake, his battle against Kelli Ward won’t hold a candle to the battle the Dems will put up to retire McCain to his rocking chair!

Will Christine Jones move into CD5 now that she has beaten out her challengers who reside within their district??

In Spite Of Whispers that former Sen Don Shooter of Yuma spends more time at his wife’s condo in Phoenix than in the Yuma apartment he claims he resides in, Shooter was the top vote getter in the LD13 House race. Shooter replaces Steve Montenegro, who moved into Shooter former position as a senator.

LD13’s M&M team of Steve Montenegro and Darin Mitchell will be returning to 1700 W Washington for another term. However, this time Montenegro will be in a senate seat. Mitchell remains in the House.

LD5 Sen Sonny Borrelli’s recorded f-bomb explosion didn’t seem to hurt him much, as he beat out former legislator Ron Gould, who has been the Mohave County Republican Chair.

LD18 Senate candidate Frank Schmuck retired Sen Jeff Dial last night in spite of last minute efforts by Dial’s Gang of Five (recognized well-known PCs) who were photographed putting up late night double decker anti-Schmuck signs a couple of nights ago.

Corporation Commissioner Robert Burns must be doing something right. He was the top vote getter in that controversial race. Ironically, Rick Gray and Al Melvin, who were fighting Burns the hardest with robo calls ended up with the least votes.

The Wickenburg Poll Watcher never received her authorized poll watcher paper work, although MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer mailed it from metro-Phoenix last week.

CD3 Jeff Knox: Since Edna San Miguel withdrew from the CD 3 race, has there been any talk about someone stepping up as a write-in, just so people can at least wave a finger at Comrade Raul, rather than just skipping that part of the ballot? I'm considering filing. Any thoughts? www.FirearmsCoalition.org

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus “I congratulate Senator McCain and Senator Rubio on well-earned victories. Both senators have distinguished themselves as leaders in the Republican Party, and Americans have been well-served by their steadfast commitment to prosperity, security, and freedom. I look forward to them winning their general election races and returning to the Senate.”

GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump is set to give a speech clarifying his policy in Arizona on Wed, Aug 31, 2016. AZ Congressman Trent Franks discussed Trump’s speech with Neil Cavuto yesterday morning. Trumps speech is all the more necessary as U.S. Southern Command recently confirmed Sunni extremists are infiltrating our southern border with the help of alien smuggling networks, according to Franks. “Border security and national security are inextricably linked. A porous border is an open invitation to those who wish to harm America, and for too long our borders have been an inviting access point for drug smugglers, human traffickers, and potential terrorists. Much like in a surgical procedure, the first step undeniably must be to stop the bleeding. Our borders must be secured and every illegal immigrant in the United States must be accounted for,” according to Franks.

Former Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman Lyle Tuttle: You’ll find this interesting. "Debbie Wasserman Schultz was the co-chair of Hillary's 2008 presidential run, where she lost the nomination to Obama. So, in order to lock down the nomination for 2016, Hillary would've had to put Schultz in charge of the DNC and manipulate it from within. In order for this corruption scheme to work, the Clintons would have needed first to, not only get the current DNC chair at the time to step down, but also get them to recommend Schultz for the position. A big request. And the Clintons would have likely needed to promise a powerful favor to that DNC chair, something more prestigious than being head of the Democratic party. So who was that person and what did they get in return? The previous chair of the DNC prior to Debbie Wasserman Schultz was...Tim Kaine Let that sink in for a moment

Briefs has reported incidents, for several years, of hard-working precinct committeemen being left off of flyers/mailers sent out to voters with a preferred PC list to vote for.  It’s known as “cleansing” or “purging” the grassroots conservatives out of leadership positions.  It lays the ground work for carrying the paper PC proxy to the county and state conventions where they can then control the election of new party officers.  Never mind, they are driving worker bees out. This year some of LD17 PC are targeted. Angi Stamm decided to expose what was happening in LD17 by preparing the flyer that Briefs posted 8-27-16-briefs. See 8-29-16 Briefs archives to learn about Joe Neglia’s revealing Precinct Committeeman Petition Challenged video. Targeted precinct reported so far:

LD17: Fiesta, Foxcrossing, Muskett precincts.

LD23: Cocopah, McCormick Ranch and Golden Eagle precincts.

LD24: Wilshire Precinct, See 8-17-16 Briefs

LD25: Westwood Precinct,

LD26: Precinct not named at the moment.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

it will be edited. Briefs does not post endorsement

Maricopa County Sheriff candidate Wayne Baker: Today is the primary election and I am very grateful for the moral support the campaign has received. Janice and I have put about $40,000 into this campaign and I as well as a few friends and family members have invested a great deal of time and resources. Hopefully all of the hard work will pay off in the end but just know I pursued this campaign because of the problems within MCSO, knowing I could be the one to rectify the issues. Please encourage your friends and family to consider voting for me in the election if they want someone honest and will put the needs of the office first. For my MCSO family, please pass the word on to all of your friends and co-workers to vote on Tuesday and to cast their vote for me. I WILL look after their career interests and treat them as they should be treated. If you are ready for a change in the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, I am the one you have been seeking to make those changes. Thank you all.

Scottsdale City Council Incumbent Virginia Korte: For those of you who have not already voted by mail, today is Primary Election day.  You can vote the traditional way at the polls or, if you have not filled out your early ballot, you can drop it off at a polling place. You can find your polling place at Maricopa.Vote As I have previously mentioned, the Scottsdale mayoral and City Council races are on the November 8th ballot.  Early voting for the election begins October 12th. Because I am not taking my re-election to a second term on the City Council for granted, I have been working hard since January on my campaign.  I have been meeting with many groups throughout the city to create a dialogue about the issues that matter most to them.  I have also met with individual citizens to listen to their ideas and discuss my priorities. I want to thank all of those people who have shared their thoughts with me during the past eight months.  Your input has been especially helpful. In a couple of weeks my campaign will be shifting into high gear and I will be stepping up my pace with my volunteers by walking in more neighborhoods. There will also be several candidate forums that I hope you will be able to attend. Thank you for your support. New video youtube.com/c/VirginiaLKorte

Congresswoman Martha McSally: "...the House probably is in the process of flipping – and a huge Democratic wave is hitting" reads a recent headline from the Washington Post. Washington insiders have concluded "Republican seats are likely to flip in November," and "districts are just too tough for GOP incumbents to hold." Friend, let me be clear — we are not going to let that happen. National Democrats are starting their House take-over by targeting districts like mine. With your help we can fight them off. That's why I'm asking you to make a donation to ensure Nancy Pelosi doesn't become Speaker of the House again. As the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat AND the first to command a fighter squadron in combat in U.S. history, I'm no stranger to tough battles. And this is one fight that I know I can win, but I can't win without the support of friends like you, Friend. This campaign could be the closest election in the country (like it was in 2014!) and the most expensive Congressional race this year, which is why I'm asking for your generous donation today. With our critical deadline just days away, I can't afford to fail. If I don't meet my goal, my campaign may have to cut back on crucial grassroots Get Out the Vote efforts that are absolutely vital to winning in November.

8-29-16 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net Web Master John Strasser

More PC Purging Shenanigans Surfacing: Briefs has reported incidents, for several years, of hard-working precinct committeemen being left off of flyers/mailers sent out to voters with a preferred PC list to vote for.  It’s known as “cleansing” or “purging” the grassroots conservatives out of leadership positions.  It lays the ground work for carrying the paper PCs proxy to the county and state conventions where they can then control the election of new party officers.  Never mind, they are driving worker bees out. This year LD17’s Angi Stamm, Jason Diefenbacher, Darrell Covert and Sandi Bartlett of “Bartlett’s Bunker” are among the targeted PCs. Stamm’s decided to expose what was happening in LD17 by preparing the flyer that Briefs posted 8-27-16-briefs

Yesterday Briefs was advised that three LD23 precincts were also targeted. See targeted precinct reported so far:

      LD17: Fiesta, Foxcrossing, Muskett precincts.

LD23: Cocopah, McCormick Ranch and Golden Eagle precincts.

LD24: Wilshire Precinct, See 8-17-16 Briefs

      LD25: Westwood Precinct,

LD26: Precinct not named at the moment.

LD18 PC Peggy McClain: “I've been reading your coverage of the PC slates and the attempt to rid the party of conservatives. Recently I was sent a video by Joe Neglia about his research into some PC petition signatures in LD26. As it turned out, it was a McCain operative behind it and some of the signatures weren't valid and the potential PC dropped out when exposed. Have you seen Joe's video? Precinct Committeeman Petition Challenged It may relate to what is going on in the other precincts. Remember when McCain said he would rid the Party of the Crazies.”

Joe Neglia: “This is a recording of the speech I gave at the LD26 District Meeting on August 9, 2016. Precinct Committeeman Petition Challenged I made the video the next day, on August 10. I filed the lawsuit back in June. Incidentally, there is more to the story. The invalid signatures on Blaze Baggs nominating petition were actually collected by a circulator who also notarized Baggs nominating petition.”

Lydia Abril’s Canasta in Wickenburg was hopping Thursday evening as over 100 area residents gathered to hear Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio explain why he is solidly behind Presidential candidate Donald Trump and serves on his Arizona Trump Team. Arpaio said when Trump made his first trip to Phoenix, he was the only elected Arizona Republican official who stood with Trump. “In his speech, he brought up immigration and I have stuck with him ever since,” Arpaio said. “What is wrong with these Republicans who say, “We will support the nominee, instead of saying Trump? Do they want Hillary or Trump?” Arpaio questioned. The last time Trump was in Phoenix, Arpaio publicly reprimanded AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham for not using Trumps name in Graham’s commentary prior to Trumps speech. It was also noted that Arpaio has introduced Trump every time he flies into Phoenix. Arpaio, who has flown between Phoenix and Tucson in Trumps jet,  drew laughter when he commented, “There were so many buttons in that bathroom, I’m not sure if the toilet flushed.” Arpaio said four US Presidents have visited his famous “Tent City.” He drew more laughter when he said he was going to suggest that Trump put his name on Arpaio’s famous “inmate pink shorts” and sell them as a fund raisers. Noting a compassionate side of Trump, Arpaio said when Trump learned Arpaio’s wife Ava was ill, Trump grabbed a cell phone, called her and chatted with her. Arpaio stayed through the entire Wickenburg meeting; posing for photos and exchanging comments with the local folks as they filed out the door. A woman attendee commented, “He appears so serious on TV, but he was very relaxed and very funny. He gave a great speech.”

Sheriff Joe didn’t just make a hit with the adult audience at the Believers for Trump meeting, he went out of his way to sign autographs for several young boys who shyly approached him before the meeting . In a grandfatherly manner, he quickly had them laughing as he jested with the kids comparing their new slick cell phones to his well-worn one. The son of Italian immigrates, Arpaio also had Abril and her waitresses laughing, as he jokingly tried to order spaghetti from the Mexican menu, noting he had lived in Mexico City for some time while serving with the DEA, long before he was elected Maricopa County Sheriff 24 years ago. - ft

Today And Every Day Until Hillary Clinton holds a formal press conference, the Republican National Committee (RNC) will issue a reminder of the number of days since Hillary Clinton has faced members of the media in an environment not carefully controlled by her campaign. Clinton owes the American people explanations on a number of issues, including, but not limited to: why she broke ethics agreements regarding foreign donations to her family foundation, why she gave preferential treatment to foundation donors as secretary of state, and why she should be believed that her off-the-books secret server wasn’t designed purely to cover up the shady pay-to-play politics between the State Department and her family foundation. It’s time for Hillary Clinton to hold a press conference. Hillary Clinton has not held a press conference in: 267 DAYS

Attention Republican Candidates: If your event announcement is not posted within 24 hours from the time you submitted it - Briefs did NOT receive it. The Republican National Committee (RNC) has released “Hillary’s Very Bad Week,” a new video highlighting another week of Clinton pay-to-play revelations, lies, and cover-ups from a fundamentally dishonest candidate beholden to special interests. “Hillary Clinton put the State Department up for sale to her donors and refuses to explain her own unethical behavior on issue after issue,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “The fact she has gone 266 days without a press conference tells you how anxious she is to sidestep public accountability and hopes voters forget her decades of shady business. Americans want to dismantle the failed status quo to put power back in the hands of the people, and Donald Trump is the only candidate capable of leading our country in a new direction.” Video here.
