Republican Briefs

The Maricopa County Republicans Committee (MCRC) Dinner Awards Guidelines have been announced by MCRC Executive Director April Riggins: All awards are based on actions taken by prospective recipients in the year preceding the actual year that the Awards Dinner is held. EXAMPLE: The 2011 awards are given as the result of actions taken during CY2010. One of the reasons that a dinner is held is to recognize the hard work of our Precinct Committeemen and honor them for their dedication and commitment under what are, sometimes, trying circumstances. There are four (4) levels of awards:

1.  CERTIFICATES OF ACHIEVEMENT – To be presented to precinct committeemen who have done an outstanding job during the previous year.  These recipients are selected by the District.  One Certificate will be awarded for every twenty-five (25) precinct committeemen, or major portion thereof, within the District.   Maximum of eight (8) Certificates per District.

2.  VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD-- One (1) award to be presented to the most outstanding volunteer in each District.

3.  THE LINCOLN BUST—To be presented to the one person selected by the Awards Committee to receive the County’s highest award.  Only one (1) Lincoln Bust will be presented in the Area.  Only one award will be made to an individual in a lifetime.  The following criteria will apply:

A.       Must be an elected Precinct Committeeman

B.       Neither elected public officials nor current District Chairmen are   eligible

C.       Give priority for work done in the Precincts

D.       Consider the number of years served as a Precinct Committeeman

E.       Consider other party activities engaged in

F.       Consider participation in Community and Civic Activities

G.       Paid staff are not eligible for award

4.  THE REAGAN PLAQUE—To be presented to a person meeting the same general criteria as the Lincoln Bust with the exception that the Reagan Award may be given to someone who has not yet exhibited a lifetime of service to the Party, and an individual may, conceivable, receive more than one Reagan Award in their lifetime.

The Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) has extended the deadline to Aug 20 for submitting award nominations (via the legislative district (LD) chairmen) for the Fall Awards Dinner. Date/location tba. All nominee recommendations must be submitted by Aug 20 to Frank Thorwald at frankthorwalk@hotmail.com Three new awards will be given related to recruitment and activity of new precinct committeemen (PCs). Nominees for the “Most Valuable PC Of The Year,” along with the annual Lifetime Lincoln Bust and Reagan Bust Service awards are also being sought. Each LD chairman is asked to submit one name. PCs can nominate any club for the “Outstanding Club for 2016” award. For more information contact Thorwald.

AZ GOP Activist Shiree Verdone is a family friend of Donald and Melania Trump and has hosted several AZ Delegates and heirarchy. She comments, “It was an incredible experience, the best convention I've ever experienced. It was an honor to be there as Co-Chair for Arizona Trump Victory, it also provided me an opportunity to meet new contacts across the nation, as well as many dignitaries that could possibly help us in Arizona. I’m proud to say the zip code for the number one source of individual contributions to the Trump campaign is right here in Arizona.  Our Arizona Trump Victory team has raised close to $1,000,000 and we are working very hard to increase that number daily.”

Maricopa County Sheriff candidate Marsha Hill is challenging Sheriff Joe Arpaio to a “debate on issues facing Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in light of federal court orders relating to Melendres case,” according to R J Morris, one of Hill’s campaign management team. Morris says Hill is also challenging Arpaio and all county sheriffs in Arizona to “do the right thing and provide deputies for polling places to prevent ‘vote harvesting’ - which is now a felony. Our Recorder Helen Purcell has said she is not equipped to enforce this law, leaving voter frauds free to pursue that enterprise without fear of enforcement. Take some initiative Sheriffs of Arizona! Enforce the Law, please!” Contact: 602-774-2774 MarshaHill.Sheriff2016@Juno.com Website: .marshahillforsheriff2016

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

it will be edited. Briefs does not post endorsements.

US Senate candidate Dr Kelli Ward: We're only a few weeks from primary day and we have more momentum behind our movement than ever before. We're now in a two-way race, media interest is through the roof, and we're meeting more voters every day who are ready to retire John McCain. We have him on the ropes and we have no intention of letting up. Right now, I'm traveling the state for my “Small Towns, Big Voices” tour. We'll be hitting 40 towns over the next two weeks! That's why I wanted to reach out - chip in to help us really take the fight to the Establishment over the last few weeks of the primary? We couldn't do this without you, and with your help we'll retire McCain. Thank you!

Congressional candidate Ken Bennett: Last week I unveiled the Bennett Balanced Budget Pledge: As an Eagle Scout, I promise to balance the federal budget in six years or not seek reelection. I believe in this pledge for two main reasons. First, we frequently send politicians to Congress who are more interested in furthering their careers than getting things done. I’m not like this. I want to go to Congress to get things done, and if I can’t, then I have no problem coming home and giving someone else a shot. Second, I believe in this six year pledge because I believe we can balance the budget in four years. By implementing the Penny Plan where we make only 1% budget cuts every year for four years and if we can grow the economy to its normal rate of growth, we can quickly balance the federal budget. For these reasons I am happy to pledge that if I can’t balance the budget in six years, I’ll come home. If you support my pledge as well, please help me spread the word. With your help, we can begin bringing some fiscal sanity to Washington, and this will only help to get America working again. Thank you for your support.

US Senate Candidate Clair Van Steenwyk urges Maricopa County voters who haven't signed up for an Early Ballot to call 602-506-1511 #0 before Aug 19 to sign up. To Cast an Early Vote at the Polls go to http://recorder.maricopa.gov/elections/evlocations.aspx to find the Early Voting Polling Place. All that's needed is that you're a registered voter. Please take a look at site and find your polling place for early voting. This will aide or eliminate any
confusion in the process of Early Voting for the primary, I'm certainother counties have this available as well.

LD 24 PC David Alger is a write-in candidate, a husband, father, and retired Navy officer who needs 211 votes in the primary to challenge Democrats Lela Alston and Ken Clark in the General Election. Contact Alger at info@davidalger2016.com or 480-377-8875."

Congressional District 1 candidate Wendy Rogers: The truth about Paul Babeu is getting out - and he's worried. You can tell because he's trying to distract from his record of scandal. Babeu recently said that I don’t support Social Security. I’m a mom, grandmother, and veteran who has paid into the system for 45 years... and now Paul Babeu’s trying to tell you that I don’t support Social Security?! I want to protect Social Security and keep politicians from raiding the trust fund to pay for other things. my Position On Social Security. Paul Babeu's running scared. support my campaign
