8-17-16 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net      Web Master John Strasser

Late night Fox News is reporting that the Donald Trump presidential campaign has undergone another shakeup. Pollster Kellyanne Conway was promoted to campaign manager and Breitbart co-founder Stephen Bannon was named campaign chief executive. Trump told the Associated Press that Paul Manafort will maintain his current role. See: trump-campaign-undergoes-overhaul

Reports Are Circulating That PACs are attempting to influence elections all across Arizona again this year. A “Citizens for a Working America” mailer was delivered this week in LD24 recommending a “conservative, grassroots” slate consisting of Kurt Davis, Ryan Harper, Kory Langhofer and Andrea Katsesnes. There is no mention of PC candidates Bob and Cindy Thomas who LD24 Chairman Timothy Lee refers to as “among the hardest working Republicans in Maricopa County and were among the most popularly elected delegates” to the state and national conventions.” GOP county leaders indicate this is a reoccurrence of elections since 2010 as the Establishment attempts to cleanse the GOP of conservative representatives. See john-mccain-arizonas-sellout-senator-godfather-dark-money opensecrets.org/pacs   http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00488767

CD4 Is Getting Hit With The Ugliest “Right Way SuperPAC” mailers out of Alexandria VA demeaning Congressman Paul Gosar, who has tangled with DC Establishment players Paul Ryan, John Boehner, and others over various issues. On the home front,  Gosar is known as one of the “hardest working Congressman” in Arizona and DC.

You May Recall, a few years ago Congressman David Schweikert tangled with some of the Establishment hierarchy in DC and it reportedly cost him a committee chairmanship.

The Yellow Sheet reports that Sen John McCain has been taken to task by EMILY’s List for the ‘Arizona Grassroots Action’ Super PAC ad referring to his Republican opponent Kelli Ward as “Street Corner Kelli”. … "John McCain must denounce this offensive attack – tearing down women is an unacceptable campaign strategy. Arizona women deserve better than this from John McCain,” EMILY’s List’s Vice-President of Communications Marcy Stech, said.

LD13 Senate Candidates Steve Montenegro and Diane Landis are having a paper slug fest as mailers fill voter mail boxes. The Landis mailer calls Montenegro a “scoundrel” while a Arizona Free Enterprise Club mailer calls Landis a “liberal” who “supports the Establishment’s Agenda.” Montenegro beat Landis in the 2014 LD13 House race. Earlier this year the Arizona Republican Assembly (AzRA) ranked Montenegro among the top 11 Arizona legislators and Americans for Prosperity (Arizona Chapter ) calls him a “Friend of the Taxpayer.”

A LD18 PC sent Briefs a copy of an anonymous mailer accusing Senate candidate Frank Schmuck of spreading lies about conservative Republicans and disparaging those who served the country. But the mailer doesn’t say what lies Schmuck is allegedly spreading. The flip side is a statement in support of incumbent Jeff Dial, whose military service was subject to headlines gop-veterans-demand-dial-release-military-files in June and more recently demands-jeff-dial-release-his-military-records

Floating the Internet: A letter from CD1 Voters to candidates: As the race in CD1 is in its final days we need to ensure that all candidates will stay honest and respect our conservative values. If you are fit for Congress sign the pledge. If you want your congressman to sign this pledge and share.

1. I pledge to not to take naked pictures or videos while serving our nation and state.

2. I pledge to support all businesses equally and not just those that donate to my campaign.

3. I pledge not to misuse public money for political again or to through private parties for my friends with public monies or a quid pro quo that would later involve money.

4. I pledge not to use my position as a leader to gain access to barley legal constituents even if the legal age for a state is under 18.

Please take the pledge and support integrity.   Thank you.  AZ District 1 Voters

Politico: How We Killed The Tea Party By Paul H. Jossey - … Greedy super PACs drained the movement with endless pleas for money to support “conservative” candidates—while instead using the money to enrich themselves. I should know. I worked for one of them.

Leaked-Soros-Memo-Refugee-Crisis-New-Normal-Gives-New-Opportunities-For-Global-Influence exposes direct challenge to rising "America 1st" movement: "The memo explains how Europe’s refugee crisis is opening doors for Soros’ organization to further influence global immigration policy.

Towncrier Jim Ely: Interesting!  Here we have a PAC with headquarters in D.C. feeding us information about issues here in Arizona.  Big question.  Why do we have to get this type of information from a distant PAC instead of learning such information from our own leadership, the AZ GOP???  As a matter of party information, if anyone wants to detail any leadership the AZ GOP leaders provide, as the Town Crier it will be passed on to the few hundred readers. Editor’s Note: Ely refers to a message from Freedom Works “…A liberal cabal of DC insiders and special interests are trying to turn Arizona into their personal fiefdom. That’s why they’re spending big money to defeat principled conservatives like Rep. Paul Gosar and State Senator Andy Biggs. Because they know these men will fight tooth and nail to stop their corrupt insider deals. Jim, they want these House seats filled with liberal clones of John McCain. Spineless lackeys who’ll always do the bidding of the CD elites. Don’t let that happen. Stand with FreedomWorks PAC and protect Rep. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs from their liberal assault right now...” -- Adam Brandon   Chairman, FreedomWorks PAC
