American Sovereignty In The Balance: "Leaked Soros Memo: Refugee Crisis ‘New Normal,’ Gives ‘New Opportunities’ For Global Influence: The memo explains how Europe’s refugee crisis is opening doors for Soros’ organization to further influence global immigration policy. The authors note that “the current refugee crisis is creating space to reconsider the governance of migration and the international refugee regime. According to the review, immigration policy-makers need to accept the refugee crisis as a “new normal.” One of the conclusions listed in the memo is, “Accepting the current crisis as the new normal and moving beyond the need to react.”  leaked soros memo refugee crisis new normal; gives new opportunities for global influence

Floating Around The Net: A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.' The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars.  I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.' The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?' The biker replies "I'm a U.S. Marine, a Republican and I’m voting for Trump". The journalist leaves. The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page: "U.S. Marine Assaults African Immigrant & Steals His Lunch" And THAT pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days!

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS

US Sen John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on the Air Force’s announcement that Arizona will be considered as a temporary and permanent location for the new F-16 fighter jets: “The Air Force’s announcement that it plans to limit consideration of temporary locations for the new F-16 Formal Training Units (FTU) to bases that include Tucson Airport and Luke Air Force Base underscores Arizona’s ideal conditions for training the next generation of American fighter pilots. This news means that 48 F-16s from Hill Air Force Base in Utah will be moved temporarily to Tucson Airport, Luke Air Force Base, or Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. In addition, up to 72 instructor pilots, 500-600 maintenance personnel, and several dozen F-16 pilot trainees will operate at one or two of these locations for two to three years on a temporary basis starting in fiscal year 2017. “While the permanent location decision is still a few years away, I’m confident that Tucson Airport and Luke Air Force Base are well situated to receive additional squadrons for the interim and permanent locations. I also believe that Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson offers unmatched capabilities to be considered as a permanent location, with its substantial ramp space, good flying operations infrastructure, and close proximity to the Goldwater Range complex. I look forward to Arizona continuing to play an outsized role in preparing our airmen for increasingly complex missions around the world.”

US Sen John McCain on the announcement that Aetna will significantly scale back its participation in the Obamacare marketplace, including in Arizona: "In what has become a string of bad news for the president’s crumbling health care law, Aetna has announced that it will significantly scale back its participation in the Obamacare marketplace after suffering significant financial losses. It’s especially disturbing that this move could negatively impact the nearly 10,000 citizens enrolled in Obamacare in Pinal County, Arizona, where not a single health insurer has filed to offer federal exchange plans. If left without an insurer, Pinal County citizens would have no health care options when it comes to Obamacare’s marketplace. “From the start, Obamacare has been the wrong solution to fixing our nation’s health care system, and has left our citizens with less freedom, reduced access, and decreased quality of care. It’s past time Obamacare supporters wake up to this fact, and restore Americans’ right to choose the health care that works for them and their families.”

US Sen John McCain in support of the Navajo Nation’s lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its role in the Gold King Mine disaster: “I commend Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Navajo Nation Council Speaker LoRenzo Bates for their relentless advocacy on behalf of their tribal members. The Navajo Nation has every reason to sue the EPA for its role in devastating hundreds of Navajo farms following the Gold King Mine disaster. It’s been one year since the spill and tribal members are still reeling from the economic and environmental damage, including lingering questions about sediment quality. The Navajo people paid a high price for the EPA’s mishandling of the Gold King Mine disaster and they deserve justice.” On August 5, 2015, the EPA on-site staff and contractors breached an earthen dam blocking the adit to the Gold King Mine. The resulting release of three million gallons of toxic wastewater flowed into the Animas and San Juan Rivers and into the Navajo reservation. The contamination threat and water shutoffs in the wake of the spill devastated the tribe’s agricultural center. According to testimony by Doug Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, the total economic impact of the spill could total $335 million.  Earlier this month, the EPA Office of the Inspector General (OIG) confirmed that it is conducting a criminal investigation into the Gold King Mine disaster. The news follows SCIA Chairman John Barrasso and Senator McCain’s letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch requesting a Department of Justice criminal investigation into the EPA’s responsibility for the mine spill. Both senators have continued to raise concerns about the EPA’s role in and failure to effectively respond to the spill, which has devastated Navajo Nation, the Southern Ute, the Hopi tribe and many others.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

it will be edited. Briefs does not post endorsements

CD1 candidate Shawn Redd: The Arizona Republic called the Republican race for the 1st Congressional District the most competitive federal race in the state. It certainly is. It has been a privilege to meet so many of our party’s patriots across AZ-01. As a Navajo businessman who has averaged 10,000 miles a month all my life, I have used this advantage to canvass the district for the past year. I will do the same as your US Representative in D.C. I will continue to meet with the local constituents and be your liaison to the Federal Government, to help reduce burdens placed on individuals and businesses across the District and the State. I will be a partner to support our other representatives to fight against the Federal Land Grabs, protecting our borders and increasing our National Security. Over the past year my competitors and I have met several times at candidate forums and we almost always find consensus on these issues. On the other hand, we do not agree that as a Native American, I am the only candidate who can win in November. This is a simple fact. The Democrats have a 10% registration advantage. In addition, redistricting added the 13 Native Tribes (mostly Democrats). Native Americans now make up 25% of the District's voters (160,000). I am the first Native American to ever seek the GOP Nomination. In 2012 / 2014 Democratic candidates, with Native American support, destroyed the establishment GOP candidates. I am the only candidate who can split the Native American support and level the playing field. I understand the diversity of this district better than any other candidate and if given the chance, I will win in November. Please tell your friends to vote Redd like a good Republican should!

US Senate candidate Dr Kelli Ward: John McCain — who frequently lectures others on political civility — started slinging completely unfounded racism allegations over the weekend. Then, he cited sketchy polls showing him up by 21 points last week — but he followed that with an email to his supporters saying, "This election is going to be close and we can take nothing for granted...nothing is certain this election cycle...I’m counting on your support for my August 30th primary.” It's obvious that McCain is running scared and is realizing what we've known all along — Arizonans are sick and tired of his DC double-speak and lectures on civility while running a dirty campaign. With less than two weeks until Primary Day, we can't take our foot off the gas now. Help retire McCain. Let’s show McCain and the DC Establishment how serious we are about shaking up Washington!

Congressional candidate Ken Bennett: Last week I shared a video that illustrates the breakdown of the federal budget in the form of $100 billion tissue boxes. This week, I’d like to share a video that more specifically explains how the Penny Plan can balance the budget in four years: In essence, the Penny Plan requires only a 1% cut each year for four years. For a family making $50,000 per year, this would be the equivalent of finding $500 in savings for the year, or saving $1.36 per day. Coupled with standard economic growth, the budget would balance in three to four years. I hope this video is helpful in showing how we can achieve significant spending reforms with only modest cuts. I believe we can make it happen, but we have to get the economy growing at a stronger rate, and we have to send people to Washington with the commitment to get things done. Please help the campaign by sharing this video on Facebook, and please consider forwarding this email to any of your friends interested in getting our financial house in order and getting America working again.

CD4 candidate Ray Strauss: The most recent batch of “lost” Hillary Clinton emails released in the ongoing drip-drip saga  reveal more of what many people have long suspected about the Democrats' candidate for President. There really was pay-for-access activity going on between the Clinton Foundation and State Department. This is a perfect example of what’s called public corruption. Along with the many other allegations and shady dealings the Clintons have been accused of over the years, this too brings personal gain, political power and access, and large sums of money into convergence under the Clinton umbrella. It’s exactly the kind of corrupt behavior the Founders tried to design out of the system, and we as citizens should be repulsed by. The corrupt Clinton cabal, assisted by classic Progressive arm twisting and dirty tricks, shows no indication of stopping. We can see other examples, though far less egregious, of bending processes for favorable and expedient ends. Take Rep. Gosar’s support of Planet Ranch and Lincoln Ranch water rights transfer to a Freeport-McMoRan copper mine in Yavapai County. The copper mine happens to be one of Rep. Gosar’s biggest doners, and even though Mohave County supervisors opposed the rights transfer because of the tax revenue that would be lost, Gosar continues to defend his support. Are we ready yet for leadership that listens to constituents and does the people’s bidding rather than that of special interests? Are we convinced that our political class is in dire need of an honesty injection? The time is now.
