Former LD22 Pc Brian Reilly responds to LD22 PC Wayne Blair: (Reilly in iitalics) "Brian, you tell me how a NON-elected official has the power to pass sentence on an elected official unless it has been judged before a jury of that persons peers?" Judge Snow is a federal judge enforcing federal law and the U.S. Constitution.  Joe Arpaio has NOT been convicted, he is being referred for criminal prosecution. It has been determined by Judge Snow, from evidence, that there is probable cause that Arpaio and others have committed a crime. There will be a new federal trial, heard possibly by Judge Susan Bolton.  The U.S. Attorney will review Judge Snow's Order to determine if they want to go forward with prosecution for Perjury.
"I'm not for illegal immigration...the people that are bring(sic) these charges on this Sheriff are all of Spanish heritage..." Only 30% of the people who had their IDs stolen by the MCSO were Hispanic.  A total of 1,459 IDs were stolen from individuals the MCSO contacted. (Source: Criminal Contempt Order, Dated 8/19/16, Doc. 1792, pg. 19, line 3.) This is about Joe Arpaio violating the constitutional rights of people,  not following court orders,  giving dishonest testimony while under oath, and trying to discredit Judge Snow and his Court through the efforts of the "Seattle Operation." This goes well beyond racial profiling.
"All [Snow] is doing is helping other candidates that are running against Sheriff Joe." This case started 8 years ago!"
"[W]hy had [Snow] not brought this sentence request out a year ago[?]  In April of 2015, Joe Arpaio confessed under oath that he was in civil contempt.  The court proceedings went forward to determine if Arpaio's actions of contempt for the court were intentional.  There is now probable cause that Arpaio and others committed a crime.  The next step will be a new criminal trial.

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

it will be edited. Briefs does not post endorsement

Maricopa County Sheriff Candidate Wayne Baker: Well the primary election for sheriff of Maricopa County may have just got a little more interesting as Judge Snow has just referred criminal charges on Joe Arpaio and 3 staff members. Folks please do your research before voting in the primary election and choose the candidate best suited for this position. I believe that the necessary changes needed within the office can be done at an expedited pace with my experience and knowledge, and I am encouraging you to cast your vote for Wayne Baker for Sheriff. My compassion for this organization goes far beyond a paycheck and my name in the marquee lights as may be the case with other candidates.
