Briefs Has Reported incidents, for several years, of hard-working precinct committeemen being left off of flyers/mailers sent out to voters with a preferred PC list to vote for.  It’s known as “cleansing”  or “purging” the grassroots conservatives out of  leadership positions.  It lays the ground work for carrying the paper PC proxy to the county and state conventions where they can then control the election of new party officers.  Never mind, they are driving worker bees out. This year LD17’s Angi Stamm, Jason Diefenbacher, Darrell Covert and Sandi Bartlett of “Bartlett’s Bunker” are among the targeted PCs. Stamm’s decided to expose what was happening in LD17 by preparing the flyer that Briefs posted yesterday. Briefs has been informed that three precincts in LD23 were also targeted: Cocopah, McCormick Ranch and Golden Eagle. See 8-27-16-briefs Contact Angi Stamm at

The LD18 Race between incumbent Sen Jeff Dial and Frank Schmuck has stirred a lot of interest --- to the point that veterans held a rally Thursday at the State Capitol demanding that Dial provide his DD 214 which will answer questions regarding his military service. Many of them proudly carried and displayed their own DD 214 certificate as they challenged Dial to allow the public to see his. See Veterans want Senator Dial to release his DD214  Dial could clarify this whole situation if he would allow several veterans/journalists/challengers to examine/photograph his DD 214. Veterans report that form will show how many times he showed up at his unit for drill and shed some light on a questioned transfer to the Individual Ready Reserve. See related story Calling Jeff Dial A Veteran Is A Bit Of A Stretch – ft

LD5 Sen Sonny Borrelli’s f-bomb laden, rip-roaring rant against voters who back his opponent Ron Gould, has stir more than a bit of attention. Desert Ridge precinct incumbent Justice of Peace Clancy Jayne has taken Gov Doug Ducey to task for supporting opponent Cathy Riggs, a former law enforcement officer who is married to former California Congressman Frank Riggs. Frank and Cathy met when they were both young police officers. See JP-Candidate-Unloads-On Ducey-For Backing-Rival

Maricopa County Treasurer candidate Royce Flora: As the Chief Deputy for the Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office for the past nine years, Flora has won several national awards for innovation and cost effective measures that continue to save, taxpayer millions of dollars. The current Maricopa County Treasurer Charles “Hos” Hoskins is not seeking re-election, which is why Flora is running. Hoskins is serving as Flora’s campaign chairman. Hoskins is a highly-decorated Air Force war veteran, who has served us well throughout his long life. Hoskins is asking for your support for Flora, a hard working Conservative who has a strong record of standing up for the taxpayers.  We have many who run for office only to disappoint us. Like Abraham Lincoln, Flora will act "with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right," to restore accountability. Flora’s goal is to make us all proud again of the way free people govern themselves. As a Constitutional Conservative and a taxpayer watchdog, Flora will work with initiatives like Prop 13, to ensure our property taxes do not increase without legislative or voter approval. He will work with the Arizona Legislature to eliminate the residential property tax, the tax on your personal home.  This double burden on hardworking taxpayers is just wrong. It is difficult to call ourselves homeowners if the government has an eternal lien on our homes. As a strong supporter of education, Flora will work hard to make sure schools are properly funded and parents can choose the best education for their children.  Royce says, “Today, the American Dream is at risk. Our nation faces enormous uncertainty with great fiscal, economic and moral challenges. Heavy taxes and excessive regulation are a direct attack on Arizona values.”  It’s time for our government to take common-sense and necessary steps to restrain its growth. It’s up to us to hold our government accountable. See

Corporation Commission candidate Andy Tobin: Throughout my career in the private sector and public service, I have always striven to make business and government work more efficiently. The job of elected leaders is not to protect government. It’s to protect the taxpayer. Last Friday marked 200 days since being appointed Commissioner to the Arizona Corporation Commission by Governor Doug Ducey, and in that time, it has become very clear to me that the size and scope of the Corporation Commission needs to be significantly reviewed and evaluated on how it carries out its most vital function: utility regulation.   I have identified a Scope of Work that encompasses my priorities for Commission reforms. This includes an internal Commission review of the following:

· Creation of a Policy Manual that can be reviewed annually and amended by a majority of commissioners as necessary

· Corporation Commission Elections

· Consolidation Review that will examine, but is not limited to, the duties of the Commission and the potential opportunities for moving these functions to other, more efficient agencies

· A review of Commission Rules and recommendations on making the rate making process more efficient and timely

· Improvements to budgeting and fiscal accountability

As your next elected Corporation Commissioner, my commitment to each and every Arizona taxpayer is to focus on these issues, and to create a more lean, efficient and effective Commission. See Tobin on tobin On Arizona Horizon 8-25-16
