Lydia Abril of Lydia’s LaCanasta in Wickenburg has scheduled “Believers in Trump” meetings for Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 3 and a Nov 8 Trump Victory Party at the restaurant. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scheduled ato speak at the Sept 22 meeting; however, that is not firm at the moment due to some potential last minuteschanges in his schedule.  Abril says she has also “reined in a special surprise guest”. Sorry, folks, Briefs can’t tell you who or what it is! The restaurant is located at 2023 W Wickenburg Way (SW corner of Hwy 60/Vulture Peak Way).The kitchen will be open for the convenience of those who wish to dine before the events start.  Those intending to dine should notify the restaurant in advance by calling Lydia Abril or Renee Sparks at 480-589-0511. Diners should arrive by 6 pm to ensure they have completed their meals before 7pm. Voter registration forms will be available for the convenience of those who would like to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential General election.

Wickenburg Area Republicans can pick up Donald Trump for President, CD4 Congressional incumbents Paul Gosar, and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio yard signs at Lydia’s LaCanasta Restaurant, 2023 W Wickenburg Way (SW corner of Hwy 60/Vulture Peak Way),between 7-9 am and 2-4 pm every day of the week – if there are any left. They were going out the door at a rapid rate yesterday. Voter registration forms are also available at the restaurant… or at the US Post Office or local MVD office.

And A Big “Thank You” to Garrett Sparks, who assembles those signs and has they ready for pick up at the “Believers” meeting. The polite young man is all over the place moving chairs and doing any last minute things that needs done. He turned 14 this week – definitely a young Republican leader in the making.

Former Phoenix Firefighter Gary Morris, who is now the Gila County Republican Committee Chairman has a radio talk show on the local radio station KMOG 1420. “It’s a means to by-pass the local, very liberal newspaper and go directly to the public with our message. Reminder to MCRC Chairmen: Sept 30 Is The Deadline for submitting Maricopa County Republican Committee Lincoln Day Dinner Awards. The awards dinner is held in recognition of the hard work of our Precinct Committeemen and honor them for their dedication and commitment under what are, sometimes, trying circumstances. All awards are based on actions taken by prospective recipients in the year PRECEEDING the actual year that the Lincoln Day Dinner is held. Example: The 2017 Lincoln dinner awards are given as the result of actions taken during CY2016.

The four (4)award  levels are:

1. CERTIFICATES OF ACHEIVEMENT – For PCs  who have done an outstanding job during the previous year. These recipients are selected by the District. One Certificate will be awarded for every twenty-five (25) precinct committeemen, or major portion thereof, within the District. Maximum of eight (8) Certificates per District.

2. VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD-- One (1) award to be presented to the most outstanding volunteer in each District.

3. THE LINCOLN BUST—To be presented to the one person selected by the Awards Committee to receive the County’s highest award. Only one (1) Lincoln Bust will be presented. Only one award will be made to an individual in a lifetime. The following criteria will apply:

A. Must be an elected Precinct Committeeman

B. Neither elected public officials nor current District Chairmen are eligible

C. Give priority for work done in the Precincts

D. Consider the number of years served as a Precinct Committeeman

E. Consider other party activities engaged in

F. Consider participation in Community and Civic Activities

G. Paid staff are not eligible for award

4. THE REAGAN PLAQUE—To be presented to a person meeting the same general criteria as the Lincoln Bust with the exception that the Reagan Award may be given to someone who has not yet exhibited a lifetime of service to the Party, and an individual may, conceivable, receive more than one Reagan Award in their lifetime.
