You Still Have Until Oct 10 to register to vote in the Nov 8 General Election. .. or update your current voter information. You can register and update information online. You can also pick up registrations forms at a US post office or local Motor Vehicle Department.

Lydia Abril of Lydia’s LaCanasta in Wickenburg has scheduled “Believers in Trump” meetings for Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 3 and a Nov 8 Trump Victory Party at the restaurant. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will speak at the Sept 22 meeting. Abril says she has also “reined in a special surprise guest”. Sorry, folks, Briefs can’t tell you who or what it is! The restaurant is located at 2023 W Wickenburg Way (SW corner of Hwy 60/Vulture Peak Way).The kitchen will be open for the convenience of those who wish to dine before the events start.  Those intending to dine should notify the restaurant in advance by calling Lydia Abril or Renee Sparks at 480-589-0511. Diners should arrive by 6 pm to ensure they have completed their meals before 7pm. Voter registration forms will be available for the convenience of those who would like to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential General election.

Wickenburg Area Republicans can pick up Donald Trump for President, CD4 Congressional incumbents Paul Gosar, and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio yard signs at Lydia’s LaCanasta Restaurant, 2023 W Wickenburg Way (SW corner of Hwy 60/Vulture Peak Way),between 7-9 am and 2-4 pm every day of the week – if there are any left. They were going out the door at a rapid rate yesterday. Voter registration forms are also available at the restaurant… or at the US Post Office or local MVD office.

And A Big “Thank You” to Garrett Sparks, who assembles those signs and has they ready for pick up at the “Believers” meeting. The polite young man is all over the place moving chairs and doing any last minute things that needs done. He turned 14 this week – definitely a young Republican leader in the making.

The GOP Victory Office At 9431 E 22nd St., Suite 141 in Tucson is open between 10am-6 pm., Mon, Wed., Thurs. and Fri, from noon until 8 pm. On Tues., and from noon to 4 pm on Sat., according to AZGOP First Vice Chairman Parralee Schneider. The volunteers help with phone calls and mail out. Lincoln Day Dinner Awards: Remember this awards must be submitted to your LD Chairman before they are forwarded to the MCRC Awards Committee. Awards criteria listed below, according to Executive Director April Riggins,

All awards are based on actions taken by prospective recipients in the year PRECEEDING the actual year that the Lincoln Day Dinner is held. Example: The 2017 Lincoln Lunch are given as the result of actions taken during CY2016.

One of the reasons that a Lincoln Day Dinner is held is to recognize the hard work of our Precinct Committeemen and honor them for their dedication and commitment under what are, sometimes, trying circumstances.

There are four (4) levels of awards:

1. CERTIFICATES OF ACHEIVEMENT – To be presented to precinct committeemen who have done an outstanding job during the previous year. These recipients are selected by the District. One Certificate will be awarded for every twenty-five (25) precinct committeemen, or major portion thereof, within the District. Maximum of eight (8) Certificates per District.

2. VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD-- One (1) award to be presented to the most outstanding volunteer in each District.

3. THE LINCOLN BUST—To be presented to the one person selected by the Awards Committee to receive the County’s highest award. Only one (1) Lincoln Bust will be presented in the Area. Only one award will be made to an individual in a lifetime. The following criteria will apply:

A. Must be an elected Precinct Committeeman

B. Neither elected public officials nor current District Chairmen are eligible

C. Give priority for work done in the Precincts

D. Consider the number of years served as a Precinct Committeeman

E. Consider other party activities engaged in

F. Consider participation in Community and Civic Activities

G. Paid staff are not eligible for award

4. THE REAGAN PLAQUE—To be presented to a person meeting the same general criteria as the Lincoln Bust with the exception that the Reagan Award may be given to someone who has not yet exhibited a lifetime of service to the Party, and an individual may, conceivable, receive more than one Reagan Award in their lifetime.

Award nominations should be sent to Alcorn at (ph 602-315-0349) no later than midnight Fri, Sept 30, 2016. A brief summary of why the nominee is being submitted is suggested i.e.  Volunteer work, offices held, years as a PC, etc.
