Jose Borrajero’s 160107-1600 AZRRT Action Alert - Updates : We have put together a short outline entitled “Basic Training for Legislative Activists”. Folks who are new in this endeavor may find a very useful first step. More experienced folks may benefit from it as a refresher. Check it out at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbi0dajbict978f/Activist-Basic-Training.doc?dl=0
·         Hundreds of bills have already been submitted even though the legislative session will not officially start until Monday. Some of these bills are excellent and we will be encouraging everyone to support them by contacting our legislators. But there are some that are horrible. The worst so far is the one that would make the Superintendent of Public Instruction an appointed office instead of an elected one. Please keep a sharp lookout as these bills work their way through the legislative process. To see a list of bills, go to: http://www.azleg.gov/Bills.asp
·         ACTION ALERT:   Rep. Randall Friese, Dem, LD9, has submitted a bill, HCR2002 that would change the way the Superintendent of Public Instruction is chosen from an elected office to an appointed one. This cannot stand. We are encouraging everyone to contact House Speaker Gowan and request that this bill NOT be assigned to committee. For more information, go to:

Rep. Matt Salmon upon hearing that the IRS planned to withdraw a proposed rule that would have chilled charitable contributions and allowed IRS intimidation of donors. “In the wake of the IRS’ sickening targeting of American taxpayers based on their political affiliations, the agency recently announced they planned to force charities to collect the Social Security numbers of individuals who donated more than $250 in a single year.  I introduced legislation immediately that would’ve statutorily protected taxpayers from being forced to provide their Social Security numbers when they make charitable donations to nonprofits. I’m happy to report that the IRS has backed down from their proposal to harass hardworking and generous Americans. I’m also pleased that an agency with a track record of persecuting  viewpoints that its leadership doesn’t agree with will no longer try to collect information on which taxpayers are donating to which organizations.  We all know how that would’ve turned out.  This situation ended well, but I’ll keep watching the IRS to protect America’s taxpayers from an untrustworthy agency.”

LD13 PC John Powelson regarding the resolution in support of Sheriff Joe Arpaio on the Jan 16 MCRC Mandatory meeting agenda:  Sounds like many wish to share with Sheriff Arpaio's and his top executives the embarrassment of doubling down on the lies and contempt of court and potential perjury and so forth. Is this something we should really endorse? There are right and wrong ways to do things, the things the Judge has done wrong are appealable in court and it is something that can be and should be handled properly and legally not with lies and deceptions. Being in the right on an issue is only defensible when it is done in truth and honor, the lies told will cancel any defense of the truth. We should not attempt to justify the lies. With courage admit the mistakes, punish wrong doing by cleaning up the mess not just accepting and condoning lies and the corrupt behavior lying requires and produces to maintain the lies appearance as truth. If we fail to in getting it right we are enabling the corruption and lying and can only expect more and more of the same expensive and embarrassing problems to surface in the future.

McCain-Calls-For-Answer-To-Cruz-White-House-Eligibility  McCain, whose eligibility was questioned in 2008 presidential race, said, “I think it's worth looking into. I don't think it's illegitimate to look into it” …The Cruz campaign hit back at McCain Thursday, with communications director Rick Tyler suggesting the senator is just trying to boost Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. “I imagine that the Gang of Eight will stay together and he’ll be for Rubio, so … why not help?” he told Fox News, referencing the 2013 “gang” that worked on an immigration reform bill

The House Appropriations Committee has warned the Department of Justice that it has no plans to approve funds for President Obama's latest gun control schemes. House Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies subcommittee Chairman Rep. John Culberson wrote in a terse letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch that any executive orders on gun control should not be paid for out of already approved funding. "I want to express the committee's expectation that the Department of Justice will allocate its resources to the enforcement of existing federal law," Culberson, chairman of the House Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies subcommittee. The letter also stated that "the House Appropriations Committee will not provide resources to your Department for the development or implementation of unlawful limitations on the unambiguous Second Amendment rights of Americans."    house-committee-no-funding-for-new-gun-control

Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas today issued the following statement reiterating her position against the proposed Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act. The act would establish a 15 percent tax on the sale of marijuana and the revenue from the tax would be allocated to education and healthcare. “By using drug money to educate our children, regardless of the drug we choose, we’re creating a world where we’re funding our schools by betting against the people graduating from them, and I cannot morally support that stance,” said Superintendent Douglas. “How can we tell our kids, in one breath, not to do drugs, and in the next, tell them that drugs bought their health textbooks? How do we maintain the authority to tell them not to deal drugs when the state of Arizona is running a cartel?
“There is also the potential for government abuse when we create a revenue incentive for the state to increase drug consumption in our communities. I agree with legislative leadership, including House Education Chairman Paul Boyer, that maintaining a drug-free school system is a cornerstone to creating a bright future for our students.
“All Arizona children deserve a great education. I believe we need a system that is based on what is best for all of our children. When we look for ways to fund that system, we must not be tempted by potential profits from evil drugs like marijuana. We owe it to our children to find a more responsible way to ensure our schools have the resources they need to succeed.”

This Afternoon, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) held a #RevokeTheMedal press conference promoting legislation he will introduce tomorrow to affirm a mechanism for the president to strip Bill Cosby of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and that will impose criminal penalties for anyone who wears or publicly displays a Presidential Medal of Freedom that has been revoked. Gosar was joined at the press conference by Executive Director of Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment (PAVE) Angela Rose. Congressman Gosar has been working closely with PAVE, a DC-based nonprofit organization that works to prevent sexual assault and heal survivors. The press conference was livestreamed on the Congressman’s Facebook page See full text of the draft Gosar legislation HERE. PAVE’s press release HERE.

GOP's 'Bearded Wonder' Behind Obama's 'Lawless' Gun Grab  Laura Ingraham, a top conservative radio host, tore into House Speaker Paul Ryan in a recent broadcast, saying the newly minted Republican leader actually fueled President Obama's executive orders on guns by giving the OK to funding for much of the White House's agenda.... Arne Has Left The Building On the last day of 2015, the longest serving member of President Obama's Cabinet, Arne Duncan, quietly stepped down from his official position as what the Washington Post called "the most powerful education secretary in U.S. history." The federal government now provides about 10 percent of the money spent on public schools, and Duncan used that money, to an extent never before, to impose his will on local schools.... (more)

Muslim Sex-Mob Cover-Up Grows In Germany The cover-up of New Year's Eve sex mobs of Arabic and North African migrants in Germany continues to grow. Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker said Wednesday that women should adopt a "code of conduct" to discourage men from committing sexual assault. Gangs of migrants went on a crime spree last Friday night, which overwhelmed police and left scores of women at their attackers' mercy.... (more)
Muslims Must Stop Blaming Others for the phenomenon of Islamist terrorism, according to a column Thursday in The Nation, one of Pakistan's largest English language newspapers. Among other things, it slams the tendency to label any critic who connects radicalism with Islam as an "Islamophobe."
"Instead of realizing the facts and the weaknesses that lie within our doctrine, or in our interpretation, Muslims have started playing the blame game. We have been making excuses in order to prove that Islam has nothing to do with extremism," Ammar Anwer, an 18-year-old Muslim who lives in New Zealand, writes in the column. Muslims are in denial when it comes to Islamic extremism and become "paranoid" whenever someone highlights points they do not wish to hear, Anwer writes. Senator John McCain on North Korea’s reported test of a nuclear device: “North Korea's reported test of a nuclear device likely represents another step in the maturity of their nuclear program and the latest example of the failed national security agenda of the Obama administration. From Europe to the Middle East to East Asia and the Korean Peninsula, we see a world that is desperate for American leadership but only continues to be disappointed. It is past time for the United States and South Korea to act in our alliance's best interests and deploy the THAAD missile defense system on the Korean Peninsula to provide more reassurance against North Korea's aggressive behavior.”
