Saturday – January 9, 2016

ATTN PCs:  Many of you have been asking about your Maricopa County Republican Jan 16 Mandatory Call letters.
·         Briefs is told they are in the mail, however, they haven’t been delivered in some areas yet.  They should be in your mail boxes by Monday – even those in the far corners of Maricopa County.
·         Others say they almost mistook the call letter for junk mail… so check your incoming mail closely.
·         The two proxies in the call letter are meeting specific and will only be accepted at the Jan 16 meetings.
·         A ‘special’ meeting is scheduled at 2:30 pm – immediately following adjournment of the regular session – the second proxy is for that meeting.
·         Briefs is also receiving inquiries as to bios on the 11 member at large (MAL) candidates. PCs will be electing five new MALS from the 11 candidates. Briefs has posted all the candidate announcements received from the individual candidates and will post any MAL candidate announcement received until noon Thursday, Jan. 14.  MAL candidate  announcements can be sent to repcomm@cox.net or frostytaylor@cox.net
·         One resolution was accidently left out of the call letter.  See LD28 PC Joe Alcott’s  Resolution In Support Of Protecting Arizona’s State Rights” in the Jan 8, 2016 Briefs archives 1/1-8-16-briefs
·         Please review the call letter meeting rules, and the bylaws and resolutions proposals prior to the meeting.

Muslim-Sex-Attacks-Rock-6-Countries   'The idea of multicultural Europe has failed' …Women in at least six countries across Europe are paying the price for their leaders’ decision to welcome millions of migrants from cultures deeply hostile to Western values.A wave of sexual assaults in Cologne, Germany, on New Year’s Eve – and the media cover-up that followed – enraged local citizens. The backlash grew as it became apparent that similar attacks happened in Bielefeld, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart.

The Republican National Committee quickly criticized Hillary Clinton over her new ad. "Under President Obama, we've become less prosperous, less safe, and less free, but incredibly, Hillary Clinton wants to not only double down but expand on this legacy of failure," RNC spokesman Michael Short told CNN.  In new ad, Clinton casts herself as the best defense against a GOP president  See hillary casts herself as best defense against a GOP president

LD23 Rep Jay Lawrence:  I have met with Governor Ducey to discuss bills I will be introducing. The governor is amazing, great warmth and what a year he and the legislature have had. Also met with the East Valley Chamber in Chandler. There will be some bills you'll like and some you may not.  I'll tell you more about them as soon as they are "dropped". I might tell you that as co-chair of the senate/house veterans caucus I am dropping a resolution to make June 27th, 2016 PTSD awareness day. We must recognize the brave men and women who have returned from war with post-traumatic stress disorder. They deserve our appreciation and resolve to help them after what they have done for us.

Maricopa County Treasurer Candidate Royce Flora: I have spent the last 23 years fighting for the taxpayer, including the last nine years as the Chief Deputy of the Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office.  I am a Constitutional Conservative and pro taxpayer.   I will work with Prop. 13 folks including  Senate President Biggs to eliminate residential property taxes.  The protection of property rights is a fundamental principle on which our country was founded and I believe our citizens should truly own their home and not eternally lease it from the government in the form of property taxes.
Treasurer Charles "Hos" Hoskins, a great Patriot and a highly decorated veteran, is not going to seek re-election. Hoskins is the Chairman of my campaign. I am the recipient of several national awards on innovation and cost effective measurers.
Reining in Out-of-Control Spending,  Balancing the Budget, and Ensuring Sound Monetary Policy.  Unless we take dramatic action now, young Americans and their children will inherit an unprecedented legacy of unsustainable debt, with the interest alone consuming an ever-increasing portion of the country’s wealth. Today, the American Dream is at risk. Our nation faces unprecedented uncertainty with great fiscal, economic and moral challenges. Heavy taxes, excessive regulation and  an open attack on traditional values.
Like Lincoln, I intend to act "with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right." To restore accountability. To make us all proud again of the way free people govern themselves. No more “drive-by” political promises.  I propose to do all I can to restore fiscal sanity, put our Constitutional duty first and honor our Oath of Office.  It’s time for government to take steps to restrain its growth and it’s up to ordinary citizens to make sure it does.
  •     A Constitutional Conservative
  •     Committed to smaller and more efficient government
  •     Committed to lower taxes
  •     Committed to you, the taxpayer   www.RoyceFloraForTreasurer.com

America’s Might Warriors Founder Debbie Lee: The new series Live to Tell will  premier with Marc Lee's heroic story at 10 pm ET, Jan 10 on the History Channel. As a Mother one of the heart wrenching things is to see your child's name on a headstone, granite wall, in a movie or a book, but their heroic stories need to be told. We founded America's Mighty Warriors in response to Marc's amazing last letter home which has inspired millions of lives around the world. CONGRESSIONAL COMMENTS
Please comply with the 300 word limit policy

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after introducing bipartisan legislation, H.R. 4354, supported by 16 bipartisan cosponsors to affirm a mechanism for the president to strip Bill Cosby of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and impose criminal penalties for anyone who wears or publicly displays a Presidential Medal of Freedom that has been revoked: “I’m pleased to see so many of my colleagues, both Republican and Democrat, join me in taking a stand to defend the integrity of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This distinguished accolade is an important symbol of our country. It is time for our elected leaders to boldly take action for what is right and join together in condemning abhorrent behavior like that of Bill Cosby. Revoking Bill Cosby’s Medal of Freedom won’t undo his actions or heal the wounds of his victims, but it will signal to the American people that we will not tolerate such lewd behavior. It is time to reclaim our nation’s moral compass.
“It is true that there is a presumption of innocence in the American legal system, and rightly so. And while our criminal justice system will ultimately determine whether Cosby serves jail time for any of the crimes of which he has been accused, Cosby’s own admissions to drugging women with the intention to satisfy his sexual desires place him outside the bounds of whom we should admire in our society.
“One of my constituents said it best: Civilian honors such as this come with no legal protections or guarantees...Honors are optional, and not anyone’s legal right to have and keep…The bar should be extraordinarily high for the Medal of Freedom, and to keep Cosby as a recipient greatly diminishes the very worth of that honor.”   The full text HERE
