City Council Votes For 'Moment Of Silent Prayer' Over Invocation; No Satanic Prayer On Feb. 17 The Phoenix City Council on Wednesday voted 5-4 to implement a "moment of silent prayer" at the start of its meetings rather than the invocations that have been the tradition for more than six decades.

Jennifer Reynolds to Common Core Fighters: SB1416 is on the 9 am., Thurs., Feb 4 agenda to be heard at the Senate Education Committee Senate Hearing Room 1. SB1416- shifts duties and powers from our only "elected" voice over education in this state, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, to the "unelected" State Board of Education. We stopped this bill last year (HB2184) and we do not want our voices to be silenced through this legislation. Many states are shifting power away from Superintendents to unelected boards but "We the People" of Arizona believe in accountability and transparency in education and want out voices to be heard! Please read this bill in its entirety (sb1416&Session), and in the Senate Summary Fact Sheet (summary/s.1416ed.pdf).
Please contact the entire Senate Education Committee and tell them to VOTE NO on SB1416 by phone, e-mail and through "Request to Speak"! - Jennifer Reynolds

The Arizona Standards Development Committee will meeting at 3 pm., Feb 4 in the Governor's Tower, 2nd Floor Conference Room (1700 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85007). This committee has been tasked to "Review and Replace Common Core" and public comments were submitted to their committee to be reviewed. The tasks that have been complete thus far by the English Language Arts and Mathematics Working Groups will be discussed along with the timeline for future meetings and agendas. This meeting is open to the public and I highly encourage you to attend if your schedule permits. agenda: - Jennifer Reynolds

Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP: Last Saturday’s “Salute to Sheriff Joe”, which was hosted by Liz and Dave Alcorn and my wife Kris and I, was a resounding success.  Special thanks go out to my good friends Steven Seagal and Ted Nugent for making the event a meaningful experience for all in attendance, and of course, our exceptional Sheriff Joe Arpaio.  We gathered on a beautiful Arizona day and from the beginning, to the end, there was a familiar feeling of energy and support for him.  The Sheriff was honored by the presence of the newly elected Louisiana State Attorney General Jeff Landry, and Louisiana Sheriffs Ackal and Gaber and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.  All flew in for this event.  Jack Scalia, actor and radio host from California, was there to pay tribute to him as well. Sheriff Joe was heartened by the many well-wishers who attended this special event and the show of support for this man who has stood for the rule of law since he was first elected.

Queen Creek City Council Candidate Jake Hoffman Op-Ed - Priorities for Queen Creek's new census money: With the town in desperate need of roads and a gross indebtedness of nearly $200 million, it is of paramount importance that this new revenue be strategically earmarked to address our most pressing priorities. my-turn-3-ways-spend-new-queen-creek-money Arizona is a hotbed for growth with people in every corner of the U.S. recognizing the vibrancy of our great state. Our low cost of living, forward thinking embrace of diverse school-choice options, year- round temperate weather, competitive tax environment and burgeoning reputation as a ‘future jobs creator’ are all critical assets in our appeal. Queen Creek knows growth nearly as well as anywhere in the state, having risen from a predominantly rural community of less than 5,000 citizens fifteen years ago to a bustling suburb boasting almost 35,000 today... read full article here:  Hoffman is a member of Congressman Matt Salmon's Education Advisory Council, 1st vice chairman for the LD12 Republican Committee, communications director for the Maricopa County Republican Committee and a former Higley Unified School DistrictGoverning Board member.
