LD23 Chairman Jim O’Connor: Opposition to National Popular Vote - Good morning all. AZ Senate President Andy Biggs is in need of calls and emails to his office demanding a NO vote on the National Popular Vote Bills now in his senate chamber. The House passed HB2456 last Friday and sent it to the Senate. Senator Don Shooter prime sponsor of SB 1218 (the twin bill of HB 2456) is hot to move forward given his current 20/10 members in favor of NPV advantage. Biggs reports that he is receiving calls in favor of the NPV at a ratio of 2/1. This is the CQ paid machine doing what they get paid to do. They are also assisted by the Democrat machine. Andy needs to hear from us at his office. He stands with us against these horrible bills and  now needs the evidence of our strength. Please Blast Out To Contact Andy Today at 602-926-4371 and Email him at abiggs@azleg.gov This link contains a report by Heritage Action in their "Daily Signal" E-Publication on this subject in our State. http://tinyurl.com/j9prh8c Also read www.NoNationalPopularVote.Wordpress.com Thank you, Jim O'Connor

McKee Announces For Senate:  After hearing of Senator Driggs’ decision to not pursue a fourth term in the Arizona Senate, Kate Brophy McGee announced her intention to run for the newly vacated seat saying: “Senator Driggs and his family have had a long and distinguished career in public service for our great state.  Senator Driggs has served his constituents in LD28 loyally and tirelessly.  He has always served in the Legislature with integrity, nobility, and dignity.  I’m proud of Senator Driggs’ accomplishments.  In that legacy of strong, principled leadership, I am announcing my candidacy for the LD28 Senate.  I am deeply grateful for Senator Driggs’ endorsement to kick off my campaign.

“This is an important race for Arizona.  I am ready, enthusiastic and prepared, and fully committed to winning this campaign and continuing my dedicated service to this state and my district.  The campaign will focus on the issues that matter to Arizonans, and seek to build on the recent progress we have made in the economy, education, and providing for our most vulnerable citizens.  We need a Senator who is able to work with the Republican majority and the Governor to advance sound public policy.”

LD13 Senator Don Shooter has taken the lead in restoring funding to Arizona’s Joint Technical Education Districts (JTEDs). The House has now decided to put Shooter’s plan on “the fast track.”

National Director - Arizona Republican Assembly (AzRA) A J LaFaro to State Representatives & Senators: I am requesting that you vote no and throw SB1218 and HB2456 "into the drawer".  Any bill and/or legislation that supports the progressive socialist movement for a National Popular Vote (NPV) will hasten America's demise.  That's maybe why the Communist Party U.S.A. endorsed National Popular Vote in 1957. Communist_Party_Wants_NPV.pdf
     Unlike many of Arizona's Representatives and Senators, I declined the paid lobbyist's repeated advances and attempts to persuade me.  I've studied the issue at length and firmly believe the people supporting this initiative clearly do not understand, or do not fathom the
consequences of their actions.
     This recent article “
does-your-state-want-to-replace-electoral-college-with-popular-vote-for-president?" helps explain the consequences if NPV is passed.
     Robert Hathorne, a Republican activist residing in Arizona, warns that the initiative would “fundamentally change America” by shifting the national political system from a representative democracy to a pure democracy.  “Majority rules was the greatest fear of our Founding Fathers;
this is why ‘democracy’ is not written one time in the 4,543 words of the Constitution.”

LD20 Activist Wes Harris: I apologize for the numerous requests but we are in panic mode given the many bills being processed by the Legislature.  LD 23 Chairman Jim O'Connor sums up my position on these two bills.  Please send a note to Senate President Andy Biggs indicating your concerns about these two bills...SB 1218 and HB 2456.  These bills render the Electoral College mute while not actually amending the U.S. Constitution.  This is a bad idea if, for no other reason, the U.S. Communist Party endorses them. – Harris is a state committeeman, 2nd VC of LD20 and a MCRC Member-at-Large wwharris@msn.com

Former LD22 Secretary Jane Schutte: Please contact Andy Biggs, abiggs@azleg.gov. , and ask him to oppose HB2456.  If the National Popular Vote were being used in 2000 Al Gore would have been elected.  It helps elect Democrats.  Send to your friends.    Oppose HB2456.  Thanks

Senator John McCain spoke on the Senate floor Tuesday afternoon on the Empowering Patients First Act, legislation he introduced with Senator David Perdue (R-GA) that would fully repeal and replace Obamacare with health care reform that works for the American people. Watch here.                  Legislation here.

Congressman Paul Gosar after the United States Supreme Court issued a stay blocking implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan while 26 states, including Arizona, challenge this overreaching regulation in federal court: Rep. Gosar on Supreme Court Blocking Obama’s Clean Power Plan

Congressman Matt Salmon, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, introduced the Distribution and Promotion of Rights and Knowledge (DPRK) Act to update programs that broadcast information radio into North Korea and provide new technologies, improved content, and greater access of information to empower the people of North Korea. “Knowledge is power—especially in one of the most secretive and secluded societies on earth.  Now, as Kim Jung Un continues to destabilize the region, he uses misinformation to brainwash the North Korean people into thinking that America is their enemy.  The DPRK Act will build on the United States’ long history of working to educate those behind the curtain of oppressive regimes and will win the hearts of North Koreans with the message of freedom and liberty.  We have the power to show North Koreans the brighter future that awaits them if the regime gives up its nuclear weapons.”

Presidential Candidate Donald Trump is no longer questioning Sen. John McCain's credentials as a war hero, but he is still hitting the 2008 Republican nominee for his handling of veterans issues. "John McCain is a nice man. I like John McCain. But he has not been effective in taking care of the Veterans Administration. The veterans are absolutely in a bad way, they're being treated worse in many cases than illegal immigrants that come over our borders," Trump said Tuesday in a phone call to Fox News. donald-trump softens tone on-john-mccain, stands firm on waterboarding

Goldwater Institute Executive Vice President Christina Sandefur: Private property is a fundamental human right. It is the guardian of all other rights. You cannot have freedom of press or religion if you cannot own a printer or a church. That's why the U.S. Constitution refers to private property more than to any other right. If we cannot be free to own, use, buy or sell property, then we cannot be free at all. Today, we are excited to announce the release of a new report that highlights what the Goldwater Institute is doing to protect this pillar of freedom through the Property Ownership Fairness Act. Building on a decade of success in the state of Arizona, our report encourages other states to adopt this model legislation as the most effective means of stopping government from taking away your property rights. Please view Cornerstone of Liberty: Property Rights in the 21st Century, (aired today): www.cato.org/live. Please tell us what you think of the Property Ownership Fairness Act. Your feedback will be extremely helpful as we move ahead to educate state policymakers about the critical need for this protection.
