Dave Kopp, President of the Arizona Citizens Defense League, (AzCDL) will speak at the 9:15 am, Feb 13 Northwest Chapter Meeting of AzRA at the Northwest Maricopa County Service Facility, 12975 W Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ. Doors open at 8:45 am. Public is invited to attend as guests. Kopp is a founding member and President of AzCDL, whose 13,000+ members believe that the emphasis of gun laws should be on criminal misuse and that law-abiding citizens should be able to own and carry firearms unaffected by unnecessary laws and regulations. Kopp will present a training session on the use of ALIS (Arizona Legislature Information System), with emphasis on the exciting “Request to Speak” app that allows citizens to follow and respond to current legislation from their homes or cell phones. Contact: Chairman Lyle Tuttle L.tuttle@cox.net 623-451-6928 .

Many Arizonans Are Prepping Their Off-Highway Vehicles, but before hitting the trail, the Arizona Game and Fish Department encourages all riders to take a riding safety course. For information on courses the Department provides, visit www.azgfd.gov/OHV. It’s also critical for all riders to wear a helmet. Whether enjoying a side-by-side, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or dirt bike, all riders younger than18 years old are legally required to wear a Department of Transportation-approved helmet. Eye protection, such as riding goggles, is legally required for all riders if the OHV is not equipped with a windshield. Riding gloves, long-sleeved shirts, pants and riding boots are recommended and should be worn at all times to protect your hands, arms, legs and feet while riding. Vehicle owners are reminded that OHVs designed primarily for travel on unimproved terrain and weighing less than 1,800 pounds are required to have a $25 OHV decal to operate on public and state lands. License plates and decals are available at any Arizona Motor Vehicle Division location or at www.servicearizona.com.

The Republican Party of Maricopa County’s Executive Guidance Committee has voted overwhelmingly to oppose both the state house and state senate versions of the National Popular Vote legislation currently being considered by state lawmakers. The vote of opposition is rooted in concerns that the two bills would grossly change our electoral system and render the will of Arizona voters subservient to that of high populace, liberal states such as California and New York, according to MCRC Chairman Tyler Bower. He asks all Precinct Committeemen to immediately contact your state legislators, by email AND phone, to tell them to OPPOSE the National Popular Vote legislation. When emailing, please use the subject line: OPPOSE National Popular Vote . You can use the new MaricopaCountyGOP.com Resource Center to look up your legislative district, contact your elected officials, access the Arizona legislature’s Request To Speak (RTS) system, and more, Bowyer said. Bowyer requested that Legislative District Chairmen share the message with their Precinct Committeemen. Editor’s Note: You can find your LD, legislators, or bills at http://azleg.gov/

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus at the conclusion of Thursday’s Democrat debate: “Hillary Clinton needed a good debate after her 23-point loss in New Hampshire and she fell far short. Democrats are faced with an impossible choice: either a socialist who took his honeymoon in the Soviet Union or a serial flip-flopper under FBI investigation. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are eager to put President Obama’s failed agenda on steroids. Instead of putting forth a new direction for the country that would restore prosperity and confront radical Islamic terror, the Democrat primary has devolved into a race to the extreme left. Only a Republican in the White House will provide the clear-eyed policies and strong leadership America needs.”

LD23 Chairman Jim O’Connor reminds voters who are in opposition to National Popular Vote (NPV) should be flooding AZ Senate President Andy Biggs abiggs@azleg.gov office with phone calls and e-mails demanding a NO vote on the National Popular Vote Bills now in his senate chamber. The House passed HB2456 last Friday and sent it to the Senate. Senator Don Shooter prime sponsor of SB 1218 (the twin bill of HB 2456) is hot to move forward given his current 20/10 members in favor of NPV advantage. Biggs reports that he is receiving calls in favor of the NPV at a ratio of 2/1. O’Connor says, “This is the CQ paid machine doing what they get paid to do. They are also assisted by the democrat machine. Andy needs to hear from us at his office because he stands with us against these horrible bills. But he now needs the evidence of our strength.” See report by Heritage Action in their "Daily Signal" E-Publication http://tinyurl.com/j9prh8c Also read www.NoNationalPopularVote.Wordpress.com

The Fountain Hills Tea Party will meet at 6:30 pm., Tues., Feb 16 in the Fountain Hills Unified School District Learning Center, 16000 E Palisades Blvd. (Palisades Blvd. & Golden Eagle Blvd.). This month's meeting will feature LD23 State Senator John Kavanagh, and Reps Michelle Ugenti-Rita and Rep Jay Lawrence who update the group on legislative issues, including the National Popular Vote. Free admission. Operational donations welcome. Contact:  Richard Rutkowski    info@fhteaparty.org  or  www.fhteaparty.org

LD13 PC Scott Powelson to LD13 Sen Don Shooter:  I can not believe a Republican would be promoting a Bill that would change the system of voting to one the CPUSA has been trying for most of 60 years to install. We all know that what we have has been corrupted by special interests and corrupt politicians for years and that is our fault for not keeping closer watch on them and their doings and cleaning our own house of corruption from time to time. That said I don't think the answers is to give in to communist ideas and lies about a national popular vote being the way to go. If you and your fellow legislators continue in this direction I will never support any of you in any further election and will work to undo and defeat you at every opportunity. I am a PC in Maricopa County and have studied the Communist agenda and our own Constitution for many years, I will trust and support the Constitution every time. Please defeat the bill for NPV and let”s buckle down and defeat the corrupt in our own party instead of accepting a communist solution which will make the problems worse not better. JS Powelson – Wickenburg

The Northwest Conservatives is hosting a “Meet the Candidates at 6:30 pm., Thurs., Feb 18 for District 1 Pima County Board of Supervisors incumbent Ally Miller and LD9 House candidate Ana Henderson at the Nanin Library

Sun City Oro Valley Republican Club Chairman Darwin Thornton scv.repub@gmail.com – Call to Action: Last week the House voted in favor of HB 2456.  This bill would authorize our state to change the way we calculate the winner of national elections, namely the President.  Remember when Gore was running against Bush.  Gore won the popular vote but Bush won the Electoral College by about 5 votes. The winner must have 270 Electoral votes.  It went to the Supreme Court and Bush won.  Come forward to present day and a cross section of our State Representatives (Repub. & Demo.) voted 40 to 16 plus 4 "Not Voting" to pass this bill onto the Senate. LD 11 Reps. (Leach & Finchem) voted for this National Popular Vote (NPV) bill.

The considerations against such a Bill would (by some interpretations) be that it is illegal because the Electoral College is in the Constitution and can only be changed by Congress, a Constitutional Amendment and ratification by 35 states. This link that may explain it better that I have. does-your-state-want-to-replace-electoral-college-with-popular-vote-for-president

If you agree that we must NOT change the Constitution and that our current Electoral College system is fine, please call these Republican Senators and urge them to vote AGAINST HB 2456.  You can leave the message with their staff and tell them that Arizona must not be handed over to some 15 or so populous states that can garner the 270 votes.  This NPV is unnecessary:
