Former MCRC VC Diane Ortiz-Parsons: Thank you to the many volunteers and supporters of Dr. Ben Carson. While the Carson for America campaign has ended, a new chapter begins.  Please vote and join me in prayer as Dr. Carson shares his next venture. "I will be working on a number of initiatives, including serving as honorary chair of My Faith Votes, a non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing the 25 million Evangelicals who didn't vote in the last election. The twin pillars of faith and family are under attack, and I will endeavor to strengthen our nation by preserving them both." Dr. Ben Carson #myfaithvotes #drbencarson www.myfaithvotes.com  It was a pleasure to serve as Carson for America State's Coordinator.

LD18 PC Larry Hilliard: Regarding PROP 123, I have heard Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit speak out against the proposition a couple of times because he doesn't feel that it is a fiscally sound modification to the formula for the annual distribution of funds from the Arizona Permanent Land Endowment Trust Fund. Apparently the proposition will raise school funding without raising taxes today, but down the road it will necessarily result in higher taxes. Interestingly, I also found an opinion paper posted by the Arizona State Treasurer's office (Legal-Option-Land-Trust.pdf) with the conclusion that the amemded Distribution Formula cannot go into effect unless and until approved by Congress. I would also like to point out that an internet search and review of Jeff DeWit's work history would give his stand on this matter significant weight.

Former LD13 Chairman Robert Branch: I sincerely like Ben Carson. He is an amazing person, brilliant, gifted, and a true Christian. From the first debate I wanted to hear more from him. Whoever gets elected as president, please tap into the talent that is Ben Carson. Ben Carson, thank you for your campaign, and God bless you.

Name withheld: The Over Population Of Burros are a big problem in Arizona and John McCain is working to solve it: Arizona Has a Burro Problem We also have a horse's ass problem!

AAARC Chairman Clyde Bowen: For the fourth year "R"s, "D"s, "I"s, Adults and children, gathered to appreciate the Emancipation Proclamation, Black History Month & to Celebrate America. We thank Gov Douglas Ducey for the official proclamation making Febrary in AZ Black History Month. We thank Sen John McCain for his letter recognizing the AAARC and our EPOD outreach event. Thank you Steve Chucri & Ranch Market for food & drink. We thank Keynote speaker Superintendent Diane Douglas for speaking on being a Republican & her Goals for AZ Education. Thank you Dr CT Wright, Rep Jay Lawrence, Jonnette Ballinger, & Johnnie Mills Bowen. We are building relationships, telling our story, as the party of Lincoln & Reagan. Lastly we thank Chairman Robert Graham for supporting this event & sharing our mission of inclusion, outreach, & education. We invite you all to be a part of EPOD5, next year. Time to walk the walk.

Former MCRC VC Diane Ortiz-Parsons: Thank you for posting the needs for Edna San Miguel's campaign. Also, many thanks for the well wishes for Steve. He continues to show much improvement each day, and the pain has lessened significantly!

Arrowhead Republican Women First Vice President Jan Martinson: Medicare Fraud is Rampant: A rule which went into effect January 1st, is the culmination of a long running effort by hospitals and other health care providers to mortally wound the auditing system, and they’ve succeeded. But why? The auditors are private contractors who get paid a portion of any wrongful payments they find. That makes them very motivated to actually find fraud. Under the new rules, the auditors are only allowed to review 0.5% of each health care provider’s Medicare payments. The ludicrous new rule from the Obama administration is crippling the ability of auditors to monitor Medicare fraud. The question is, who would want to thwart investigators in their quest to uncover fraud and abuse in government?

The tiny review size won’t provide a statistically significant sample size to determine whether the provider is following the rules. The rule says that if the provider is a bad actor, they will be subject to a broader review in the future. A spokeswomen for the Council for Medicare Integrity argued it could backfire. A large hospital would be submitting about 26 claims every 45 days in their billing cycle. The point is that a random review that small could easily misrepresent the general billing practices of the hospital.

All this rule does is make it easier to steal from the government. Anyone tricky enough, who is both willing and capable of defrauding the government of millions of dollars in Medicare payments, is going to be able to produce a sparkling clean sample of 26 billing claims from thousands.

The lunacy of all this is that the vast scale of Medicare fraud, each year, is estimated to be about $60 billion dollars. Borrowed from The ARWC newsletter. Martinson worked in the medical field for a number of years.

ATTN Club Chairmen/Secretaries: Please include the time and location of your event, as well as a contact name, phone or e-mail when submitting event announcements. Thanks for your cooperation. – Editor Frosty Taylor.
