LD21 Sen Debbie Lesko: My legislation, SB1241, that bans photo radar on state highways passed out of the legislature on Thursday March 17th and is awaiting the governor's signature. If signed, say Good Bye to the photo radar cameras on Grand Ave. in El Mirage and on Highway 260 in Star Valley east of Payson. It was a very close vote. 16 votes in the Senate and 31 votes in the House are needed to pass a bill. The Senate vote was 16 yes, 14 no and the House vote was 32 yes and 26 no. The yes votes were mostly from Republican legislators, with one Democratic senator voting yes. Thank you to Sens Sylvia Allen, David Farnsworth, John Kavanagh, Don Shooter, Steve Yarbrough, Nancy Barto, Judy Burges, Adam Driggs, Gail Griffin, Steve Smith, Kimberly Yee, Carlyle Begay, Jeff Dial, Andrew Sherwood (Dem), Andy Biggs and Reps Ackerley, Boyer, Cobb, Fann, Finchem, Kern, Lawrence, Lovas, Mitchell, Olson, Rivero, Shope, Townsend, Weninger, Allen, Borrelli, Carter, Farnsworth, Gray, Leach, Mesnard, Montenegro, Pratt, Robson, Stevens, Ugenti, Bowers, Campbell, Livingston, Norgaard, Petersen, and Gowan for voting yes.

Saturday morning AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham witnessed protesters blocking traffic and preventing voters from attending a rally for Donald Trump in Fountain Hills, Arizona, who is seeking the Republican Nomination for President. Ted Cruz and John Kasich are also top candidates for the Republican nomination. “These protesters are denying our First Amendment rights by physically preventing innocent people from attending a rally held by a candidate for public office,” said Graham. “I won’t stand for it nor should anyone in America. This is an outrageous display, and it’s deeply offensive to me as a voter and as a party leader to see these tactics here in Arizona. We trust our voters and we trust law enforcement and our judicial system to ensure no voter is intimidated or blocked or suppressed or prevented in any way from exercising his rights to vote and to enjoy free speech."

The Colorado River Tea Party meets at 6 pm., weekly at the Community Christian Church, 6480 E Hwy 95 in Yuma. The line-up of scheduled speakers includes:

April 7 – US Senate candidate Alex Meluskey.

April 21 – AZ Corporation Commission candidate Al Melvin.

May 5 – LD4 candidate Richard Hopkins.

May 19 – Former AZ Senate President Russell Pearce.

June 2 – BBQ fundraiser sponsored by Congressman Paul Gosar.

More Than 150 Republican Women Leaders gathered at the National Federation of Republican Women's (NFRW) spring board meeting in Arlington on March 17-19, where they pledged to support the 2016 Republican presidential nominee. The NFRW board unanimously adopted a resolution calling on members to actively support and work to elect the 2016 Republican nominee for president, as well as all Republican candidates for federal, state and local office. "The NFRW and its members have a 78-year track record of coming together in unity following a competitive primary campaign season, and this year will be no different," NFRW President Carrie Almond said. "We are united and have a common purpose: to completely reverse course and end the failed policies of President Obama and the Democrats. The way to accomplish this is to send a Republican to the White House, and we will enthusiastically, wholeheartedly stand behind our party's nominee." Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation, making it one of the largest women's political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
