AzCDL Legislative Update: Contact the Governor Today - HB 2224 passed out of the Legislature and is sitting on the Governor’s desk.  It’s time to remind Governor Ducey that Arizona’s gun owners are not to be ignored. HB 2224 is the AzCDL-requested bill that would prohibit the state or any political subdivision from charging or levying a fee, tax, assessment, lien or other encumbrance on the transfer of a firearm between private parties who are not prohibited possessors. Your email to send to the Governor has been prepared and is waiting for you at AzCDL’s Legislative Action Center.  You may send it as is or add your own comments. Click here to send your message to the Governor These alerts are a project of the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL), an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization.

ATTN LD Chairman: As you conduct your state delegate election meetings please send in the winners so everyone knows who their state delegates to the April 30 State Convention will be. Sent to or

Email Traffic between Yavapai County Chairman Mark Sensmeier and long-time Yavapai activist/PC Richard Hennessey were hot and heavy this week over the $50 state convention fee. More about that tomorrow. The $50 charge/donations/tax or whatever you want to call it, seems to have created a upheaval throughout the state. AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham and his Communication Spokesman Tim Sifert claim the fee is necessary to help cover convention expenses and save money for political campaigns. Sifert points out, the fee includes lunch. Some think $10 is a bit pricey for what they expect will be a ‘brown-bag lunch.’ Some says a “donation” is freely given, not imposed. Others say the fee keeps those on a tight budget from participating. Other think the fee was imposed to keep elitist in control of the party so the Establishment can pull some kind of shenanigan at the national convention to keep front-runner Donald Trump off of the national ticket. Needless to say, tempers are flaring across the state over this issue. - ft
