FirstStrategic Lobbyists Kurt Davis and Barry Dill have formed “Vote No Arizona” - a ballot measure committee – to push back at out-of-state financed issues on the ballot. Davis says, “Arizona is being used as a political laboratory – with intended and unintended consequences.” In the 80s Davis was the youngest ever Executive Director for the AZGOP.
Long-Time Lobbyist Chuck Coughlin wrote an interesting op-ed piece on Prop 123. See can we do-better than Prop 123?
And Speaking Of Kurt Davis and Chuck Coughlin. Back in the early 1990’s both of those young men were on Attorney General Grant Woods administrative staff. They were movers and shakers back then… and they still seem to be. They have come a long way over the past 25 years. An avid outdoorsman, Davis just happens to be the current chairman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission as well.
Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP: In 2012, immediately following Mitt Romney's victory in the Arizona Presidential Preference Election, I officially, as Chairman of our Party, endorsed him. I did so because our voters had chosen him and I felt it to be appropriate that I acknowledge that fact, as the leader of the state party. Now I'm wondering why our current chairman has not done the same for our current victor of that election? Am I missing something?
Yavapai County PC Rick Hennessy: Anybody who looks at politics in general or Arizona politics knows how corrupt the system is. For far too long the voters have allowed the Establishment to run our party. Now on the eleventh hour we are informed that we are going to have electronic voting (at the April 30 state convention). How is that going to work? Nobody knows. Is Robert Graham and his minions trying to rig the meeting? We have not received the rules, nor the resolutions. A lot of people haven't even received a call to meeting. I had to go through calling, texting and dealing with unnecessary crap to get my call. I am not blaming Robert for that. I believe the problem is with (Communications Director Tim Sifert and the IT department. It is time we hold the leaders of AZGOP accountable.
The Arizona Corporation Commission is starting a mass media campaign on investor awareness and fraud prevention with $13,800 in funding from a grant awarded by the Investor Protection Trust (IPT).
US Senate candidate Alex Meluskey’s: My Best Week Yet! I had an extremely busy yet fun weekend on the campaign trail. I had the pleasure of meeting many engaged Arizona voters at the Pima County Fair in Tucson who are fed up with how things are in D.C. Roberta and I enjoyed talking with voters at the Crossroads Gun Show at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. We also had a wonderful time at the AzRA lunch on Saturday where we continued to solidify our support. I am hearing from voters all over the state that it's time for an outsider, someone who is not a politician and who has run a successful business. Help us keep this momentum going by volunteering with our campaign—either in one of our offices or at one of the many events will be at over the next couple of months. meluskey.com/volunteer
Former Congressman John Shadegg’s comments on Dem incumbent Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick’s support of the failed Obamacare system. “Obamacare has been a tremendous failure in Arizona resulting in higher premiums, increased taxes and fewer health care options. Democrat Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick has touted Obamacare as her proudest vote, yet offers no remedy for Arizona families as the system continues to collapse. With the recent news that 45,000 Arizonans will need to seek new health care coverage next year, it is a shame Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick is not denouncing the failed health care system. Apparently, her loyalty to President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi is more important than protecting Arizona families.”
Unitedhealthcare, The Nation's Largest Healthcare Provider, plans to exit the Obamacare in Arizona and several other states, according to the Arizona Republic. UnitedHealthcare insures an roughly 795,000 Americans through the Obamacare-established marketplaces, including approximately 45,000 Arizonans:

Arizona-Senate-Kills-Bill-Setting-Stage-To-Reject-Federal-Acts-In-Strange-Series-Of-Votes/ The Arizona Senate killed a bill that would have set the stage for the state to refuse cooperation with federal acts after a bizarre series of parliamentary moves this month. Rep. Bob Thorpe and a coalition of 12 sponsors and cosponsors introduced House Bill 2201 earlier this year. The legislation would have prohibited state participation or cooperation with any action of the United States government that constitutes "commandeering." See HB2201&Session_ID=115

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on Tuesday’s Democrat primaries: "Tonight Hillary Clinton inched closer to the Democrat nomination she should have put away long ago, but the far-left agenda she is offering is far removed from the direction the American people want. Hillary Clinton will offer another four years of the status quo and failed Obama policies. Whether it’s her secret email server that jeopardized national security, stonewalling on releasing the transcripts of her paid speeches to Wall Street banks, or deliberately misleading voters on nearly every issue, America cannot afford to have Hillary Clinton’s long track record of dishonesty and reckless judgment in the White House. Only a Republican president in the White House can get our country back on track and growing in the direction the American people want.”
The US House Unanimously Passed Congresswoman Martha McSally’s bipartisan legislation, the Promoting Resilience and Efficiency in Preparing for Attacks and Responding to Emergencies (PREPARE) Act. The legislation, which would improve the efficiency and coordination of disaster preparedness programs, is McSally’s seventh bill to pass the House. “This bipartisan bill will make our country safer,” said McSally. “It enhances tools for first responders, improves efficiency at FEMA, helps address threats posed by chemical and biological attacks, and ensures our nation’s homeland security agents can communicate effectively. I came to Congress to advance commonsense solutions like this one, and I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate to get it signed into law.” Full bill text HERE.

State Delegate/ LD20 Officer Wes Harris: While I was born in Arizona I spent the majority of my youth in Chicago. Being 'dirt poor' we had no air conditioning...in fact few did other than the Pharmacies and the Movie Theaters...so on a hot summer night I would take a blanket and my pillow to the park as sleep under the stars. If I did that today I would not be capable of writing this note to you. I also used to take the El down town to the all night movie theaters without any fear of being mugged...again something I would not do today as it would be far too dangerous. That is what Chicago has become...all under Democrat rule. I think that the following will be of interest even if you did not come from Chicago or Oklahoma. Alas...thanks to a growing number of 'not so Republican' State Senators Arizona failed to join Oklahoma and other states in banning the over reach of the Federal Government in Arizona. It is time to take a very close look at your State Senator (and House Representatives as well) and see if they are voting your values or someone else's.
Kristi Passarelli at the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office says June 1, 2016 is the deadline for precinct committeemen, who are running for the Aug 30 election, to get their petitions submitted to the Recorder’s office. They will start accepting the petition signatures on May 2. “They can file in person at any of our three offices, MESA and MCTEC have parking; the main office at 111 S 3rd in Phoenix - only has street meter parking.” If you are mailing your paper work in, send it to the attention of Kristi Passarelli, Assistant Director Maricopa County Elections Department, 111 S 3rd Ave, Suite 102, Phoenix, AZ 85003-2294 (602) 506-8344 Fax (602) 506-3069. LD 24 PC Tristan Manos commemorating Emer de Vattel (Part 3/3): David Amram, University of Pennsylvania Law Review (1919), writing on Vattel's "Law of Nations," quoting Charles Fenwick: "Vattel's treatise of The Law of Nations is quoted by judicial tribunals, in speeches before legislative assemblies, and in the decrees and correspondence of executive officials. It is the manual of the students, the reference work of the statesman, and the text from which the political philosopher draws inspiration. Publicists consider it sufficient to cite the authority of Vattel to justify and give conclusiveness and force to statements as to the proper conduct of a state in its international relations." Amram, himself, adds: "In England, it is true, Vattel was severely criticised, especially by Jeremy Bentham, and likewise in France and in Russia; as against this, however, in the United States since before the Revolution, when his work met with the approval of Benjamin Franklin, down to most recent times, he has been constantly quoted with approval." Vattel's "Law of Nations" on "natural born Citizen" (Book 1, Chapter 19, Section 212): “The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it.”
