Republican Briefs

Editor - Frosty Taylor repcomm@cox.net or frostytaylor@cox.net   Web Master John Strasser

Trumps-Arizona-Campaign-Chair-Jeff-DeWit-Is-Laughing-All-The-Way-To-Cleveland  Asked whether he'll be Donald Trump's commerce secretary, should the presumptive GOP presidential nominee KO the Dems' best shot at the White House, Hillary Clinton, in the fall, Arizona's Treasurer Jeff DeWit chuckles."Nah, I like my job," DeWit says. "I don't think so." That's a somewhat odd answer. After all, the 43 year-old DeWit, who was named Trump's state campaign chairman in January and formally endorsed The Donald around the same time, already has stated publicly that he will not run again for the treasurer's post he won in 2014, claiming in one interview to be disenchanted with the "favor factory" at the state capitol.

Sen candidate Clair Van Steenwyk stirred up a bit of a hornet’s nest when he named a list of LDs that he claims haven’t responded to his request to make his campaign pitch to.. Current LD24 Chairman Timothy Lee says he has checked the minutes and that LD24 permitted Van Steenwyk to speak to the group last fall before former Chairman Ken Bennett resigned to run for the US senate. Van Steenwyk’s scheduler George Gosselin claims that Van Steenwyk was given approximately three minutes to speak at the end of a Fall LD24 meeting, which he says isn’t sufficient time to make a presentation for a major office. Gosselin further charged that it was the “worst meeting” he had attended and that they were “rude”. Lee counters he “has always had a collegial, cordial and professional relationship with him (Van Steenwyk). Nary a cross word or even a frown has ever transmitted between us. How dare you categorize me as rude when your factual basis is bumfuzzled.” Gosselin requests 25 minutes for reappearance for Van Steenwyk’s presentation/Q&A. Contact Gosselin at 602-740-4165 or scheduler@vanussenate.com

Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP: Rush Limbaugh made some very interesting comments on his Monday radio show about the Establishment Elite's "clique mentality", summing up beautifully, what many of us in "the great unwashed" have been witnessing for quite some time now.  His comments were mainly regarding Speaker Paul Ryan's continuing resistance to Donald Trump's nomination coupled with his, and many of his peers, "Cowardly Lion-Like" behavior in office as they continually surrender to President Obama's disastrous policies. Their "Clique" believes that that they and THEY ALONE, know what is best for us and how dare this belligerent upstart Trump, try to tell them otherwise.  Why, they have certainly kept the wolves at bay with their latest budget, which will drive us further and further, into the deep and dark Progressive Financial Hole.  They have honored our service men and women by doing absolutely NOTHING to correct the abuses at the VA.  They have stood by and watched our country being overrun by illegal aliens as our infrastructure is being strained way beyond capacity.  What about the slide into entitlement and mediocrity they have presided over recent years? As someone who has railed against "The Clique" and drew their ire when I was Chairman, I urge all of us who are sick and tired of this autocracy, to send them a message this November, that they won't soon forget.  That message is simply, "We are here now and we can't occupy the same space at the same time.  So move on!"

Paul-Ryan’s-Ominbus-Bill-Funds-Muslim Immigrants, Sanctuary Cities... Are these really Republican Priorities? If so Republicans have been lying to Republican voters!!! See how your reps voted.

Congress-Votes-To-Fund-Nearly-300,000 Visas For Muslim Migrants In One Year

Paul Ryan Voted YES On ALL Muslim Refugee Bills. Is your city ready for rapes & beheadings? The House passed Paul Ryan’s $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill, negotiated with Nancy Pelosi. A majority of House Republicans voted for the measure, which fully funds Obama’s refugee resettlement operation, all Mideast immigration programs, Sanctuary Cities, Obama’s continued executive amnesty for DREAMers, and the resettlement of illegal aliens within the U.S. interior. Arizona Allotments: Glendale – 895, Phoenix – 1,459, and Tucson 935.

John-McCain: If Donald-Trump-Apologizes-For Captured-Prisoners-War-Comment... John McCain has said he will endorse Donald Trump for the GOP nomination if the billionaire apologizes for his comments about POW veterans. Trump caused fury among veterans in July last year when he said McCain was only a war hero because he was captured during the Vietnam War.

Chicago-Celebrated-Mothers-Day-Weekend Here’s what Obama’s hometown was up to this past weekend. Would you want to live in this gun controlled and violent city? President Obama’s hometown is a war zone. The horrendous violence on the streets there has escalated. With warm summer-like weather, gang bangers were especially active, easily surpassing 2015’s Mothers Day carnage (3 killed, 25 wounded) and 2014’s (5 killed, 19 wounded).Meanwhile, the President of the US ignores the battlefield conditions in the hometown he adopted as his political base.

DOJ, NC File-Dueling-Lawsuits-Over-Bathroom-Law The U.S. Justice Department files a federal lawsuit against North Carolina over its law restricting the use of public restrooms by transgender people, just hours after Gov. Pat McCrory filed his own lawsuit over the law.

IRS-Doubles-The-Time-Wind-Industry-Can-Receive-Subsidies Of $15B The Obama administration on Friday doubled the amount of time wind energy companies have to take advantage of a key tax subsidy, which critics blasted as undermining a landmark deal last year to phase out the renewable energy credits. The Internal Revenue Service extended the number of years wind projects can take advantage of the maximum level of subsidy, from two to four years, under a “commence construction” clause in the tax code.

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited

Congressman Paul Gosar: The Fish and Wildlife Service is currently taking public comments for 30 days through Thursday May 12th on the draft recreational boating compatibility determination which aims to close significant portions of Lake Havasu to motorized boating activities. We need your help to keep Lake Havasu open for all users! Written comments may be emailed to:  Havasu_Boating_Comments@fws.gov. Written comments may be sent to:U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, Attn: Draft Recreational Boating CD, 317 Mesquite Avenue Needles, CA 92363 Get your comments in and oppose this flawed proposal that aims to close down more areas on Lake Havasu to recreational boating activities that include tubing, water-skiing, wakeboarding and fishing. Prohibiting tubing, water-skiing and wake boarding in an area utilized by recreational enthusiasts for decades, two days before Memorial Day Weekend, without public comment and without merit is appalling. Pursuing massive new unwarranted boating restrictions not based on science less than a year later is shameful. If we do not stand up and fight this abuse of bureaucratic power, unelected and unaccountable government officials will continue to take more control of our lives. I was proud to be joined at the public meeting by 10-year-old Ryder Bliss of Lake Havasu City, who is against the arbitrary boating restrictions which have prevented him from wakeboarding. Learn more about Ryder's story HERE. Click HERE to read full coverage of the public meeting from the News-Herald.

U.S. Senator John McCain on reports that Iran conducted its third ballistic missile test since January:  “This morning’s reports indicate Iran conducted its third ballistic missile test since January, yet another sign of Iran’s growing belligerence in the aftermath of the reckless Iran nuclear deal. Last week, the New York Times Magazine published an article that exposed how the White House manipulated and, in some cases, manufactured facts to sell the reckless Iran nuclear deal to the American people as a prelude to large-scale disengagement from the Middle East. The spin campaign continues as the Obama Administration ignores repeated Iranian provocations that threaten its narrative – the detention of U.S. sailors by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard in clear violation of international law, rockets fired near a U.S. aircraft carrier, ballistic missile tests in violation of United Nations resolutions, and continued support for terrorism and the murderous Assad regime that is destabilizing the Middle East and undermining American interests. It is long past time for the Obama Administration to disenthrall itself with the dangerous illusion of a new relationship with Iran and adopt a comprehensive strategy to counter Iran's malign influence and protect America’s national security interests.”
