Republican Briefs

Editor - Frosty Taylor repcomm@cox.net or frostytaylor@cox.net   Web Master John Strasser

ALERT From Lyle Rapacki, Sentinel Intelligence Services:The White House will announce today that ALL Schools are commanded to let transgenders use restroom of their choice. The Obama administration will announce a directive is being sent to ALL school districts across the country commanding schools to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms of their choice as it matches their sexual identity.  A letter is being released to ALL school districts signed by both the Justice and the Education Departments.  This letter will further command that NO student is to be discriminated against.  Schools that do not abide by this new policy (does not have the force of law) said schools and/or districts will face lawsuits and loss of federal aid.  Parents are not to be considered in this announcement.  So…if a parent does not want their sixth grade girl to see an eight grade boy naked, the parent has no say in this matter.”

Longtime GOP Activist Shiree Verdone to Corey Lewandowski, Trumps Advisor: “I have some very serious concerns regarding the Trump campaign leadership in Arizona. Mr. Charles Munoz had a difficult time navigating his way through our grassroots, the process and bylaws leading up to the state convention held on April 30th, 2016.  The complete failure of any organizational efforts before and during the convention was inexcusable.  Losing a majority of delegates to Cruz was not only an embarrassment due to the fact Arizonans voted overwhelmingly for Trump, but could have been prevented with the inclusion of eager activists armed with knowledge, experience and proven successes in the past. Many offers to participate by me and others have been met with silence and insular attitudes. Moving forward I am aware that Arizona is now considered one of the top 5 contested states.  We need a competent and experienced Trump team in Arizona to ensure victory in November.  I have reached out once again with offers to help with coalition building, fundraising, etc.  I am open to work with anyone that has respect, energy and communications skills, I am not interested in begging to volunteer only to be ignored.   I speak for many that have had this very same experience and I respectfully ask you to place someone in charge that will understand the dynamics of Arizona politics and is willing to put in 100%.  Arizonans for Trump are willing to give it all we have; we just need a leader…”

LD24 PC Carol Joyce: Nice write up on Helen Purcell… Helen was the guest speaker at the April LD 24 meeting and was very warmly received and greeted by the membership!  She has literally revolutionized the County Recorder’s office since the day she was first elected to that position and done a “Stellar Job” … Kudos to Helen and Her Staff.  Under Helen’s Leadership, the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office was put in the national limelight - winning numerous awards!

Congressional Candidate Paul Babeu says, “We need to clean up the House. Current members of Congress are a little too comfortable. They aren’t reading the bills or listening to voters anymore…. And that’s why our politics these days seem so volatile. Voters like you and me are waking up to the fact that the established politicians aren’t doing their jobs. It is a bit like when children are left unsupervised. They make a mess, and now someone needs to clean it up. I’m going to Washington to clean up the House. To put a stop the madness. I’ve said it many times: Washington needs to be put under an arrest. We need citizens to elect representatives who show up to yell “stop!” on their behalf. I’m ready to do it. And I know you are, too. That’s why we’re winning this race, and that’s why we can’t stop now. We have allowed the mess in Washington to pile up for too long. help me clean it out Let’s send a Sheriff to Washington to say enough is enough.”

I-28-2016 Clean Elections Reform Act Filed: This initiative measure would require that proceeds from surcharges imposed on civil and criminal fines and penalties and from certain other sources be deposited in the Classroom Site Fund, rather than in the Citizens Clean Elections Commission Fund. The measure also would require the Citizens Clean Elections Commission to adhere to the procedures and limitations of the Arizona Administrative Procedure Act when engaging in rulemaking. general/initiatives

Senators John McCain and Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today announced details of the committee’s markup of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017. The committee on Thursday voted, 23-3, to report the bill, which authorizes $602 billion in funding for the Department of Defense and the national security programs of the Department of Energy.

Say No To Leftist Ballot Measures In Arizona: Leftists and union bosses from California are currently collecting signatures for three bad propositions they want to put on Arizona’s November ballot:

—An anti-free speech measure that would put your name and personal information onto a publicly-available government database if you donate to non-profit organizations. It would also give state bureaucrats the power to audit and investigate conservative organizations for the “crime” of supporting the causes and issues we believe in.

—A measure to increase the minimum wage to a job-killing $12 per hour and keep young people and low-skilled workers from climbing onto the bottom rungs of the career ladder, with a special exception for the union bosses.

—A measure to cap the pay of hospital CEOs, which is part of an effort to try to unionize hospital employees (so the same union system that ruined Detroit’s economy would now run our hospitals).

Senator John McCain on U.S. District Court Judge Rosemary M. Collyer’s ruling today on Obamacare: “I applaud today’s federal court ruling in favor of my Republican colleagues in the House of Representatives. This decision represents an important victory for the separation of powers and rule of law. From the start, Republicans have opposed the sweeping scope of the President’s nearly 3,000-page law, which has done nothing to lower the cost or improve the quality of health care. Today, the American people cite health care costs as their biggest financial concern while some of the nation’s largest insurance companies are escaping the Obamacare marketplaces as the system continues to collapse. President Obama doesn’t have the right to rewrite the Constitution to fit his political ambitions and today’s federal court ruling today affirms that fact.”

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement in response to House Republicans’ victory in federal court over the Obama Administration’s unlawful implementation of ObamaCare: “This ruling is a victory for the rule of law and another rebuke by the courts to a president who has routinely flouted the Constitution,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “ObamaCare has proven to be an unpopular, unworkable train wreck that has delivered one broken promise after another, made our weak economy even worse, and disrupted the lives of millions of Americans. While Hillary Clinton and the Democrats want to expand this failed law and give Washington more control over Americans’ health care, the Republican Party is united in our resolve to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with patient-centered reforms that will actually lower costs and expand access to care.”

Congresswoman Martha McSally: When it comes to the effectiveness of our border strategy, Washington officials often paint a rosy picture. The people I speak with in Arizona, however, tell a very different story. That’s why on Monday, I held a field hearing in Sahuarita to give Southern Arizonans a chance to share their experiences living along the border. Contrary to what we’ve been told, the border is not secure, and the consequences of this failure are felt by our residents every day. That’s why Southern Arizonans’ perspectives are so important and must be part of the discussion to improve our border strategy. The first step to fixing a problem is understanding it. I’ve worked hard to move us to a fact-based discussion about securing the border and help rebuild faith in our system. I was proud to see the House unanimously pass my bill recently to conduct a full threat assessment of our southwest border, including where we have vulnerabilities, where we can better leverage technology, and what percentage of situational awareness and operation control we have. I’ll continue to fight to advance commonsense solutions that make our communities safer and make sure Southern Arizona voices are heard. Arizona Daily Star coverage HERE mcsally.house.gov.

Trump-Drops-A-Sizzling-New-Attack-Ad-Against-Hillary; The-Last-10-Seconds-Is-Giving-People-Chills Donald Trump released a new attack ad against Hillary Clinton on Tuesday featuring parents of three of the Americans killed in Benghazi. But it’s the last 10 seconds of the ad that are truly chilling.

Benghazi Backup Never Got The Order To Deploy "A member of a U.S. Air Force squadron based in Italy has claimed he and his team could have come to the rescue of U.S. personnel under fire in Benghazi, but they never received the order. The airman, who has maintained anonymity out of fear of retribution, told Fox News the squadron aircraft were armed, fueled and ready to provide support to the U.S. personnel at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, the night of Sept. 11, 2012...."

Congresswoman Martha McSally: A critical visit to Afghanistan -- Last week, I returned from leading a group of women Members of Congress to Afghanistan, where we met with troops and Afghan leaders and received updates about the security situation in the region. I returned with added resolve that we cannot make the same mistakes in Afghanistan that led to the rise of ISIS in Iraq. We’ve invested a lot of blood and treasure into Afghanistan. It’s a country that has immense importance to our national security due to the presence of now close to a dozen terrorist organizations, many of which are a threat to our security and homeland. The trip provided invaluable insights from commanders in theater about the risks of this Administration's direction to draw down from 9,800 to 5,500 troops in the next six months. Going forward, we need a different approach, one that enables us to do what we need and frees up our military to do its job. I'll continue to advocate for that strategy.  mcsally.house.gov.

Congresswoman Martha McSally’s legislation, the Women Airforce Service Pilot Arlington Inurnment Restoration (WASP AIR) Act, was sent to the president’s desk today after the House unanimously approved the final version of the bill, which passed the Senate yesterday. The bill, H.R. 4336, is McSally’s second to be sent to the president. “It’s been just 19 weeks since the Army’s decision to kick out our pioneering female World War II pilots was brought to light, and we’ve been fighting ever since," said Rep. McSally. "We worked hard to build support in both chambers of Congress and make sure this bill would continue moving forward. I’m proud to see it now clear Congress and encourage President Obama to sign it immediately.” The Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) served in World War II ferrying airplanes, training combat pilots, and towing airborne targets. Thirty-eight WASPs died during their service. In 2002, WASPs and other active duty designees were made eligible for military honors and inurnments at Arlington National Cemetary, however, in March 2015, then-Secretary of the Army John McHugh reversed this decision. McSally has led the fight in Congress to restore the WASPs at Arlington. Her efforts to fight for the WASP in Congress include leading a letter cosigned by over 50 bipartisan House members to the Acting Army Secretary, holding a Special Order discussion on the House floor, hosted a press conference with House and Senate lawmakers, and publishing numerous op-eds.
