Congressman Paul Gosar is reminding voters to e-mail your comments on the US Fish/Wildlife’s “Lake Havasu Boating Restrictions” no later than 5 pm., today - Mon., June 13 - to Havasu_Boating_Comments@fws.gov On April 12, 2016, the Service announced a draft recreational boating compatibility determination (CD) and the agency’s intent to pursue even more boating restrictions. Once again, these proposed closures are based on a radical agenda, not science or need.
Can-Van Steenwyk Run-For Both-Senate-And-House-At Same-Time? …In 2012, "tea party" conservative Clair Van Steenwyk sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. In 2014, Van Steenwyk challenged longtime incumbent U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., in the 8th Congressional District's GOP primary. This year, the 69-year-old Sun City West retiree has filed paperwork to simultaneously challenge both incumbent U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Franks in their respective GOP primaries. After Van Steenwyk, who formerly hosted a political talk radio show, filed petitions for both offices, the Arizona Secretary of State's Office noted that state law precludes a candidate from running for more than one public office if the election for both offices are held on the same day and if the candidate could not serve in the offices at the same time…
GOP Presidential Candidate Donald J Trump: Last night, our nation was attacked by a radical Islamic terrorist. It was the worst terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11, and the second of its kind in 6 months. My deepest sympathy and support goes out to the victims, the wounded, and their families. In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam'. For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency. If we do not get tough and smart real fast, we are not going to have a country anymore. Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen – and it is only going to get worse. I am trying to save lives and prevent the next terrorist attack. We can't afford to be politically correct anymore. The terrorist, Omar Mir Saddique Mateen, is the son of an immigrant from Afghanistan who openly published his support for the Afghanistani Taliban and even tried to run for President of Afghanistan. According to Pew, 99% of people in Afghanistan support oppressive Sharia Law. We admit more than 100,000 lifetime migrants from the Middle East each year. Since 9/11, hundreds of migrants and their children have been implicated in terrorism in the United States. Hillary Clinton wants to dramatically increase admissions from the Middle East, bringing in many hundreds of thousands during a first term – and we will have no way to screen them, pay for them, or prevent the second generation from radicalizing. We need to protect all Americans, of all backgrounds and all beliefs, from Radical Islamic Terrorism - which has no place in an open and tolerant society. Radical Islam advocates hate for women, gays, Jews, Christians and all Americans. I am going to be a President for all Americans, and I am going to protect and defend all Americans. We are going to make America safe again and great again for everyone. - Donald J. Trump

Town Crier Jim Ely: Our government was established as a Republic. re·pub·lic rəˈpəblik/ noun 1. a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch. In an election year there is a ‘primary election’ where we vote for a candidate from every recognized political party to compete in a general election for an office. The candidate from that party who receives the majority of votes gets to compete in the ‘general election’. Then the candidates for that office who receives the MAJORITY of the votes for that office win the seat in that office. Let say, a Democrat gets 40% of the votes for that office, an Independent gets 15% and then the Republican gets the 45% of the remaining votes. The Republican takes the office. Simple, isn’t it? Except for the POTUS. Obviously, that is not the procedure for the election for the highest office in the land! POTUS. That procedure varies from state to state, and looks to be rigged in many cases. Probably, the idea of a ‘Super Delegate’ is a good example. The ability of a party to change the rules at a national convention is also suspect. We see evidence that the voice of WE THE PEOPLE could be overshadowed by the PARTY POWER, or what some call the establishment, power brokers who seemingly view their self-aggrandizement and power position more than the voice of WE THE PEOPLE. Let’s hasten to say that sometimes the voice of the people if not the best, Obama is a good example, but the old saying that people deserve the government that they elect come into play. The point being, WE THE PEOPLE’s vote should prevail at the national convention, and the party members should support and vote for that decision, and if not, should change parties or become independents. And, for the general election the party must have a strong GOTV program!

Congressman Matt Salmon: “Most importantly, I offer my condolences today to the families of those so tragically murdered in Orlando. Even more tragically, Mr. Mateen had already appeared on the FBI’s radar twice before. As the attacks on our nation by those claiming allegiance to the Islamic State continue to increase, Americans are rightfully asking themselves one thing: How will we deal with these cowardly Islamic radicals? To those who would seek to divide our nation with our own internal politics, your efforts will fail. Our answer, as a nation united, will be to stand together with all Americans against this hatred and cowardice that defines these Islamic extremists. Together, we must remain vigilant and defend all Americans from those who seek to do us harm.”
Congresswoman Martha McSally: "My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and all those affected by the terrorist attack this morning in Orlando. While additional facts are gathered about the motivation behind this senseless and devastating carnage, now the deadliest mass shooting in U.S history, reports indicate that radical Islamic ideology played a part. At this time, our hearts are with all those mourning their loved ones and with the people of Orlando."
Senator John McCain: “I extend my deepest condolences to all those impacted by the horrific act of terror in Orlando, which claimed the lives of 50 people and injured at least 53 others. We all appreciate the efforts of first responders, as well as local, state and federal law enforcement officials who continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this massacre. As we learn more information about this tragedy, we must remain steadfast in our commitment as a nation to acknowledge the threats we face and do everything we can to root out terror.”

Scottsdale City Council incumbent Virginia Korte: Everyone realizes the role arts and culture have played in building Scottsdale’s brand. Our city not only has a history of promoting arts and cultural activities, other cities attempting to expand their involvement in the arts measure themselves against Scottsdale. Arts and culture contribute to our economic development by attracting businesses that create jobs. And, of course, the arts enhance our special quality of life that we all enjoy. The topic of today’s email is the seldom-mentioned ways our art galleries, museums and ongoing cultural and entertainment events augment the education of our future generations. Study after study consistently conclude the same thing: art programs and a community’s cultural opportunities help students improve their learning at every level of their education. Participation in the arts improves students’ reading and language skills. Students exposed to arts and culture even perform better in math. In addition, it has been proven that these types of opportunities also help develop our students’ “higher-order” thinking tasks. Last week the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board unanimously approved placing two proposals on this November’s election ballot: a bond and a budget override question. Once again, I will be proudly serving as the Honorary Chair of the “Yes To Children” campaign asking voters to approve these necessary funding measures to keep our schools performing at the highest level and continue to provide all children full arts offerings in their schools. The citizens of Scottsdale have a responsibility to continue the commitment to arts and culture not just to grow and preserve our city’s brand – but also to provide opportunities for Scottsdale’s next generation. I encourage you to learn more about the SUSD proposals that voters can approve to rebuild old and outdated schools to make them safe and academically sound for our students.
