Donald Trump, whose outsider campaign both galvanized millions of voters is officially the 2016 GOP presidential nominee. The billionaire businessman reached the 1,237 delegates he needed to clinch the nomination when his son Donald Trump Jr. cast the votes for the New York delegation.

Donald Trump Claimed The Mantle Tuesday as the Republican presidential nominee, capping a stunning rise to power for his insurgent campaign as a boisterous showing by his family and friends revived his convention after a rocky start. Chris Christie, shaking off the disappointment of being passed over as Trump’s running mate, performed a show trial of Hillary Clinton, whipping the crowd into frenzied chants of “Lock her up! Trump’s son Donald Jr. sketched a portrait of his father as a champion of the working man who could unleash America’s potential. His half-sister Tiffany offered a more tender and less familiar view of her father. More on CNN TV,

Tom Morrissey Immediate Past Chairman AZ GOP: Things got a bit dicey on the floor of the Convention yesterday as passions erupted from both sides of the "Anybody but Trump" issue.  It was noisy and energetic as both sides of the issue battled it out.  In the end the Pro-Trump forces prevailed.  As a Pro-Trumper I argued with a delegate who was on the other side of the issue, when he continued to call for a "roll call" which would have brought a very divisive issue to the floor.  I told him that a roll call, to me at least, was equivalent to a call of support for Hillary for President.  To other "Anti-Trumpers" I said, if you consider nothing else, please keep in mind the potential liberal control of the Supreme Court by the appointment of possibly five Justices over the coming four years.  Sometimes we don't see the forest for the trees. A pleasant surprise for me was when I started getting texts from family and friends that I was seen on CNN saluting the flag during the singing of the National Anthem and then a second time during a prayer.  My hope is that all of us who refer to ourselves as Conservative Republicans remember that we have a country to save, and act accordingly.

Jose Borrejaro, MCRC 2 VC: Thank you very much for publishing my Trump thing. I don't know how many people they interviewed, but was quite pleased and surprised to find out they chose my comments to publish. As you can see from my comments, I am not enamored with Trump, but the lack of leadership and disregard for the will of the voters exhibited by the others made me support Trump. See Congratulations To Jose Borrajero - Selected As Arizona's Ambassador To Trump Nation! - ft

Political Consultant Constantine Querard: Day One of the Convention is in the books. Ignore the media spinning the noise as Trumpers v Anti-Trumpers, the fight was for improving the party rules and following our procedures. As most of you know, GOPers get prickly when the rules aren't followed. Otherwise, several great speeches, some genuine American heroes, and some fun, including looking for Jobu with Jeff Smith, showing we can disagree without being disagreeable with Sandi Bartlett and Anthony Kern, a cameo from Triumph (one of the few A-list celebrities in the arena -- sorry Scott Baio), and owning the jumbotron social media courtesy of Anthony and our Yuma Senator Don Shooter.

Susan Bitter Smith: As Republicans arrive in Cleveland for this year's convention, I thought I would share this photo from a past convention, 1984, to be exact, featuring the cutest convention attendee, 3 month old Prescott Smith. To the delight of his grandparents (and his parents) this was a wire service photo that went out across the country including the front page of the now defunct Phoenix Gazette.

Arizona Delegation Tidbits:

Gabby Saucedo-Mercer and Jeff DeWit, AZ Treasurer and Arizona's Trump Campaign Chair, found a few minutes to chat.

Word Coming From The Convention Center: Crowd has thinned for Flynn. Many delegates bolted after Melania and Donald Trump walked offwatch CSPAN. FOX, CNN, and the rest are only showing a small piece of it.

Gotta Hand It To The Entire Trump Family. That’s one good looking clan. Beautifully dressed, well mannered, well spoken, close knit, poised and confident. Potential First Lady Melania is still a fashion plate with a figure most women envy and the fellows admire. Some of the ladies can hardly wait to see Melania’s inaugural ball gown.

Chuckle For The Day: One delegate was wearing Trump socks yesterday. The Donald’s hair was brushed yarn that stuck out from the ankles.

Thayer Verschoor: Melania Trump have a great speech! Great first Lady. Much much better than the crooked corrupt Clinton's. "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!"

Sandi Bartlett (Bartlett’s Bunker): Marcus Luttreal gave a very emotional speech. Not a dry eye in the house.

Sean Smith’s mom gave a very touching speech as well. She’s one tough lady with a broken heart. Shame on you Hillary Clinton!

Weary delegates started to thin out prior to retired Gen Flynn’s speech. His message was well worth listening to.

Some folks will be surprised when they get home and review how they looked in photos taken during the hooting/hollering session. Pics last forever.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on Hillary Clinton’s remarks at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada: “Hillary Clinton’s eagerness to put big government special interests ahead of taxpayers will do nothing to Make America Work Again,” said Priebus. “Promising more tax dollars for the government in exchange for votes is exactly the kind of rigged system Hillary Clinton has long benefited from, and middle class families have every right to be angry about this unethical backscratching taking place at their expense. Pay-to-play politics is par for the course with Hillary Clinton, and this kind of behavior is bound to continue in the White House if she is elected president. We need to run the other way from a Clinton agenda which puts her own self-interest above what is good for the American people, and elect a Republican president who will create jobs, cut wasteful government spending, and bring wholesale change to Washington.”

Sen John McCain has announced his Arizona Future: Fire and Water action plan, which lays out steps that can prepare Arizona for the wildfire season ahead and to combat drought conditions faced by Arizona’s next generation and beyond: “The defining issue for the next generation of Arizonans will be fire and water," said McCain.  "I am proud of the progress we have made in equipping our firefighters, protecting our forests, and conserving our water supply, but there is more to be done. Like my predecessors, Jon Kyl, Barry Goldwater, and John Rhodes I will fight to protect our natural resources and forests so future generations inherit a better quality of life, agricultural economy, and natural beauty in Arizona.”

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

CD4 Congressional candidate Ray Strauss: You may have heard the expression “dog days of summer” and know that it refers to the hottest days of mid-summer. Here in Arizona we don’t have to wait until mid-summer for things to heat up, and with the campaign for CD4 heating up too, well, we might as well have some fun with it. I know it’s difficult to get people’s attention with so much going on right now, including maybe even trying to squeeze some vacation time in. But this race is ongoing, and with a few weeks left to go, I still need your help. We’re gaining momentum as each week passes, and my team and I are working hard to spread my message of listening to the people and working for the people. Won’t you join us? consider donating With a common vision we can take back our country!

Sen Jeff Flake: We all know that President Obama's administration has been prone to executive overreach to put it mildly. We can only imagine what a Hillary Clinton administration would do. This makes it absolutely critical that Republicans maintain control of the Senate in order to keep a Clinton administration in check in case she wins. We are in serious danger of losing our majority, and unless we step up our game it could be game over for conservatives. We saw what happened when President Obama had a liberal Senate majority for most of his presidency. And our nation can't afford to keep taking the economic and social beating that it has under the liberal agenda -- especially with their increasing ambition to strip us of our 2nd Amendment and other Constitutional rights. Senate Democrats want nothing more than to see Hillary win and to have a strong majority to sign off on every single one of the promises she's made. Unfortunately they won't stop until they win, so we can't afford to take breaks or let our guard down. I need you now. help me
