Republican Briefs

Arizona-Republican-Weighs-Bid-To Become-National-Face-Of Party “At an after-party on the last night of the Republican National Convention, Kid Rock was the featured entertainment. But it was Robert Graham’s show. The Arizona Republican Party chairman hosted thousands of Republicans from around the country who packed a waterside pavilion.” …”Part politician, part businessman, part motivational speaker, Graham has been working the national Republican circuit since becoming the Arizona party chairman in 2013…”

Republican-National-Convention-Arizona-Director-Avinash-Iragavarapu “…This man may be the most important Arizona Republican who can't vote but holds the highest paid position in the AZGOP.”

Former Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman R J LaFaro’s reaction to story that AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham’s right-hand man Executive Director Avinash Iragavarapu is not a registered Republican, has a green card, and can’t vote yet holds the AZGOPs highest paid position. LaFaro questions, “Why isn’t an American citizen - who is a registered Republican, who can vote, and has a lot more political experience in that position?” Iragavarapu, who is from India, was hired by Graham as the political director after Iragavarapu worked on Gov Doug Ducey’s data analyzing team. Iragavarapu worked on political campaigns in India before coming to the US.

Delegate Lori Hack sought  national facetime when she was refused credentials after she showed up at 9 am., the first day in Cleveland. Graham had removed her as a delegate when she first went public in Arizona with her refusal to vote for Trump in the first go around as Arizona delegates were bound to do. Graham stuck to his guns and continued to refuse her credentials during the convention.

AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham is probably coming home to rash of questions as to how he chose alternates for the delegates who resigned their position prior to the national RNC convention last week. The AZGOP is supposed to replace elected delegates with alternates who received the next highest votes during the state convention… However, comments were leaking out last week that next in line alternates weren’t always Graham’s appointees.

Immediate Past Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman A J LaFaro: “I have finished a detailed analysis of the AZGOP delegates and alternates.  I did one right after June 20th when the AZGOP posted the information the first time and again more recently adding the 28 new delegates and alternates that replaced the ones that resigned or were removed.  It's obvious Robert Graham and the AZGOP violated the bylaws, rules and procedures concerning the delegate and alternate selection process.  They are continuing to use the ‘friends of Robert Graham’ methodology. For example, Bob Moore got 432 votes, Beth Hallgren got 435 - both Trump supporters – were not contacted and were left off the list.  Listed below are a few of the individuals who were appointed.

Newly selected At-Large Alternates as of July 12th -
Jonathan Twist 444
Yvonne Cahill 437
Don Shooter 436
Jack Harper 436
Beth Hallgren 435 (wasn't contacted or selected)
Bob Moore 432 (wasn't contacted or selected)

Charlotte Hoek 432
Dawn Sellers 428
Jan Brewer 93
Sal DiCiccio 80
Ron Ludders 62
Parralee Schneider 20
John Stevens 7
Tim Sifert not even on the ballot
Rae Chornenky not even on the ballot
Jeffrey Parker not even on the ballot
Ed Pellegrino not even on the ballot

Updated National Convention Delegate List At the top of the above link, it states "Alternates are ranked in the order of vote count and are promoted to a delegate position when there is a vacancy. Only at-large alternates fill vacancies for at-large delegates, and only congressional district alternates fill a vacancy in their district."
1.  If that statement is in fact true and to be enforced, why were Carlyle Begay and John Rhodes selected as CD1 Alternates?  Neither of them were on the CD ballots.
2.  For the record, Mr. Begay wasn't on any CD or At-Large ballot.  If Mr. Begay wasn't on any ballot, why has he been selected as a CD1 At-Large Alternate?
3.  For the record, Mr. Rhodes only appeared on the At-Large ballot and received 427 votes. References below:

Arizona National Delegate Election Results With Vote Count (At-Large Election)    The AZGOP Bylaws are very clear about the delegate and alternate selection procedures for the national convention:
      D. Election of Delegates and Alternates of National Convention  Each congressional district caucus shall elect delegates and alternates pursuant to the national call. Each alternate within the district shall be listed and serve in an order determined by the number of votes received or, in case of a tie, by lot. The state convention shall then elect delegates and alternates at large pursuant to the national call. The at-large alternates shall be listed and serve in an order determined by the number of votes received or, in case of a tie, by lot.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on Hillary Clinton choosing Virginia senator Tim Kaine as her running mate: “Hillary Clinton’s choice of Tim Kaine does nothing to unify a fractured Democrat base which is repelled by her dishonesty and cronyism,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “After spending last week pandering to grassroots Democrats with Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton has chosen someone who holds positions that she’s spent the entire primary trying to get to the left of. Ultimately this is a ticket that represents one thing: four more years like the last eight, just with more corruption and scandal. A Clinton-Kaine administration will push our country further down the path President Obama has led us on and that has made us less safe, less prosperous, and less free. More taxes, more debt, more government and more leading from behind on the global stage will not deliver the turnaround our country desperately needs. Americans have had enough of the failed Democrat status quo. Donald Trump and Mike Pence offer a better path for our country that puts America first. A Trump-Pence administration means more jobs with rising incomes, more security, more freedom, and a conservative Supreme Court. The choice in this election is clear and it’s only the Republican ticket of Donald Trump and Mike Pence that can Make America Great Again.”
