Waddell, who was cartoonist/author Bill Mauldin’s first “Willie” - is looking for Mauldin items from his famous “Willie and Joe” drawing of WWII vets. LD13 PC Marsha Hill: How many Americans have visited countries under Sharia Law? I have and not in the military. For several years, I saw women get on the plane in Dubai in their burkas. By the time we would arrive in England or Germany, they had changed into short skirts, high heels, thoroughly made up. Obviously, this is what they preferred. While in Sharia law countries, these same women walked the streets chatting amongst themselves. When walking with their husband or brother they would be 10 paces behind. I was advised to wear long sleeves, long skirts or slacks and preferably with a dupatta over my head. It was also suggested I take a cab any place I wanted to visit. When I would walk out of the hotel to a market, the paths were lined with men ogling, which one would expect with blond hair. I mentioned some of this at an Embassy party. A door opened with their explanations. The only "blue movies" these men watched were from America. So the common man looked at American women with lust knowing ALL American women were all prostitutes and "easy". In the country sides of these countries, wives were NOT allowed out of their houses. Children played outside, but the men in villages looked after them. What kind of life was this? Did these women have no rebellious spirit? Some did and were killed...no rebellion allowed. Had I been born there, I wouldn't have lived long. It is by God's grace I was born in America. I am grateful. Under NO reason, do WE, Americans, and especially women, want Sharia law! It is not a natural way to live!

RNC Communications/Research Michael Short: MShort@gop.com: FolksA map from a classified government counterterrorism briefing obtained by NBC News shows a “stunning three-fold increase in the number of places around the globe where ISIS is operating.” That’s a stark disconnect from the spin coming from the White House and Hillary Clinton, who has backed President Obama’s failed strategy and gone as far to claim that “we now finally are where we need to be” in the fight against ISIS. See isis-terror/new-counterterrorism-heat-map-shows-isis-branches-spreading-worldwide NOTE: The map is part of a classified briefing document received by the White House dated "August 2016" and prepared by the National Counterterrorism Center. It shows a stunning three-fold increase in the number of places around the globe where ISIS is operating … NBC News terrorism analysis Malcolm Nance said the U.S. has been successful in attacking the "ISIS core" in Iraq and Syria, but that the "heat map" obtained by NBC News "could probably be a lot bigger if they were to show all the aspirational regions where ISIS wants to operate and has carried out terrorist attacks." "It's fair to say that the whole battle space is expanding for ISIS," he added.

LD14 PC Bruce M Piepho: GOP elites may destroy the Republic, Mind boggling and Staggering = Establishment Republicans Are Voting For Hillary Clinton - Sour grapes and pity bucket blues affecting the entire Bush family as well as way to many republican power mongers could destroy America as a Republic. For example: Jeb Bush’s top adviser Sally Bradshaw, has left the Republican Party to be an independent, and if the presidential race in Florida is close, will vote for Hillary Clinton. Comment: The Bush family appears to be wrapped up in their own personal problems and are totally ignoring the country's problems. They are a prime example of poor me pity bucket wallowing. I do not have much respect for the Washington Post but that paper has published: growing-list-of-big-name-republicans-supporting-hillary-clinton "...some of the big Republican names that have already committed to voting for Hillary Clinton…” Many of us have said all along, the establishment will do whatever it has to do to keep Donald Trump out of the White House. Comment: These GOP elites apparently do not give a damn about the U.S. and are only concerned with self-interests, protecting their wealth, hurt political feelings and future corruption. The biggest story of the 2016 election may be the fact that the American people now see how far the elite, progressives, globalists and Republicans in Name Only are willing to go to keep someone that is not “one of them” from becoming president. Dump Trump advocates are willing to move heaven and earth to do anything and everything to stop him.The next three months are going to be very, very interesting and the result will be the survival or death of a Republic. You need to read the entire story at: establishment-republicans-that-say-they-are-voting-for-hillary-clinton-is-staggering A must read.

Arizona Progress Chairman Ron Ludders: Senator John McCain is facing a direct challenge from Kelli Ward now that Alex Meluskey has suspended his Senate bid. That clears the way for Dr. Kelli Ward to unite the Republican vote her candidacy.   Thank you Alex for being man enough to back out when you knew you could not win.  Kudos Alex.

LD13 PC Scott Powelson: I have been watching and surmising the game the Clintons play for most of 25 years. The last couple of years of his governorship in Arkansas, after he became president, during his tenure and since then his wife as a surrogate face on the dealings. After all these years of observing the Clintons and the corruption that follows them and works its way into every aspect of their enterprise I find that the main product they have to deal in and have dealt in through the years is access. Gov. William Jefferson Clinton, Arkansas – Access to contracts and influence in Arkansas politics and State government and favorable treatment, all for sale through the Clinton machine. Here are two, there are hundreds and this does not address whatever portion of the CIA business in Mena was in their pockets at close of business. Bill Clintons Criminal Background and The_Arkansas_Prison_Blood_Scandal As President the business picked up and was more valuable gaining overseas access and international sales as we see from some of these links,https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Huang

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS

300 Word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

US Senator John McCain - Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on reports that the Obama Administration sent $400 million in cash to Iran at the same time four American hostages were released: “The Obama Administration’s airlift of $400 million in cash to Iran is disturbing, but hardly surprising given its long record of concessions to America’s adversaries. Whatever the Administration may claim, it is clear that this payment was a ransom for Americans held hostage in Iran. Just like the Administration’s reckless nuclear deal, this cash payment incentivized further belligerent Iranian behavior, such as the arrests of two more Iranian-Americans. It also added $400 million to the coffers of the world’s number-one state sponsor of terrorism at a time when it is actively working to destabilize the Middle East and undermine U.S. national security interests. Money is fungible. The Iranian regime now has an additional $400 million to support Bashar Assad’s slaughter of people in Syria; to fund militias and terrorists in places like Iraq and Yemen; to funnel arms to terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah that seek to destroy the state of Israel, and to buy advanced military capabilities to threaten the United States and our regional partners. This is all thanks to the Obama Administration’s reckless and foolish efforts to curry favor with our enemies in Iran.”

Sen Jeff Flake’s Round up: Preventing Infrastructure Failure at Border: CBS 5 in Phoenix is reporting that Sens. Flake and McCain have successfully spurred the administration into action to evaluate structural damage to the Grand Tunnel that runs below the DeConcini Land Port of Entry in Nogales. If left unrepaired, the tunnel could collapse endangering the lives of motors and workers, and hindering cross-border trade. Read the full story here.

Key Takeaway: “The General Services Administration said in a statement it will launch the study of the tunnel under the Nogales, Arizona, crossing next month. The announcement came after U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake sent a letter to the GSA last week warning a tunnel collapse would hurt cross-border trade and tourism. Officials have previously said such a collapse could cause cave-ins sending motorists and their cars plunging into the tunnel and prompt the closing of the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry crossing.”

Protecting Tribal Artifacts: Sen. Flake joined Sen. Martin Heinrich to announce growing support for their Safeguard Tribal Objects of Patrimony (STOP) Act. This bill would prohibit the exporting of sacred Native American items and increase penalties for stealing and illegally trafficking tribal cultural patrimony. Read the full story here.

Key Takeaway: "I am pleased to join my colleagues in this bipartisan effort to stop the illegal trafficking of sacred Native American artifacts," said Sen. Flake. "These culturally significant and historical objects belong with the tribes, not the highest bidder." - – Borrowed from Flake’s newsletter.

US Sen John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, on the U.S. Air Force declaration that the 34th Fighter Squadron, based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, has reached initial operational capability with the F-35A Lightning II aircraft: “The F-35A’s achievement of initial operational capability is another important milestone in the Joint Strike Fighter program and all to the credit of the hard-working Airmen of the 388th and 419th fighter wings at Hill Air Force Base.  But for the most expensive weapons system in history, the road ahead remains long. The Senate Armed Services Committee will continue to exercise rigorous oversight of the Joint Strike Fighter program’s long-delayed System Development and Demonstration phase as well as the start of the operational test and evaluation phase. These next steps are critical to verifying the F-35A’s ability to successfully recapitalize our aging and increasingly vulnerable fighter force structure.  Learning the lessons from this program’s failures and those of too many others, the Senate Armed Services Committee will continue to press forward with reforms to our cumbersome defense acquisition to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and our warfighters can safely and effectively perform their missions.”

CANDIDATE COMMENTARY

Please comply with the 300 word limit policy. If statements exceeds the limit,

it will be edited. Briefs does not post endorsements.

Candidate for Maricopa County Recorder Aaron Flannery: HB2023 (making ballot harvesting illegal) passed earlier this year and goes into affect this Saturday (August 6th). This law was supported by many of Arizona's County Recorders, including Maricopa. Three months after Sine Die, and there are no plans to enforce this law? Our incumbent has declared that she is not the police and has no plans to enforce Arizona state law. In fact, she states that if someone shows up with a box full of ballots, they will be counted.  While I agree that poll workers are not police, we should not encourage ballot harvesting by openly stating that it will not be enforced. Our voter ID laws are enforced at polling locations and poll workers are typically not experts in detecting fraudulent IDs. To combat this, we have a mechanism in place (AZ ID Readers) for simple and quick verification. Like the Voter ID laws, there should be some accountability or method in place to ensure all our election laws are enforced and our elections kept honest. - Aaron Flannery MBA, MPA

Sheriff Candidate Wayne Baker: First off, I would like to thank everyone who has liked and made comments on our KWBaker.Sheriff.2016 page. Early ballot voting begins shortly and we need to elect a sheriff who is 100% percent dedicated to repairing and restoring the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Someone who will work with the Community, Board of Supervisors, MCSO employees, County Attorney's Office, and other Law Enforcement Agencies to regain the trust and respect that makes our county proud of LEO's and their mission. Someone who is not looking for a job to supplement their income or have their names displayed in the marquee lights as some may have as their agenda. These are things I do not want or need to accomplish the necessary changes. In my heart, I have a burning desire to not only repair the problems within the office but to make it a premier Law Enforcement Agency again. I have the experience after working at MCSO for 24 years, and I have the knowledge from working in numerous positions within the office. My experience as a Security Company business owner for 15 years, which hires certified peace officers has also prepared me for this endeavor. If I am successful in winning this election, I will serve no more than 2 terms as I do want to retire and enjoy life before it passes me by. I urge you to research all of the candidates before making your choice and choose the person who does not desire to feed their ego or their income, will follow the laws set in place by the State of Arizona and follow the constitution as it is written. Please consider KW (Wayne) Baker for Sheriff in Maricopa County for the 2016 election and together we can accomplish an amazing outcome with the Sheriff's Office.

Maricopa County Schools Supt Don Covey: Why I’m Seeking Re-Election – I have had the honor to serve as Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools for the past seven years. During my tenure, we have raised the bar for student achievement, regional partnerships, and empowering our school districts through local control. We have made tremendous progress but there is still work to be done in order to provide the highest-quality education our parents and students deserve, which is why I’ve decided to seek reelection on August 30. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished and wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few of the innovative reforms and programs we’ve implemented:

• Provided pay raises for effective educators in eleven school districts.
• Secured $110 million in grants to Maricopa County education systems creating educator training programs, a decision support data system, and an exemplary practice video bank.
• Re-engineered the school governing board appointment process to give more control to the local community.
• Connected 10 rural and underserved urban schools to STEM professional role models to institute higher-quality STEM instruction.

• Provided pay raises for effective educators in eleven school districts.

• Collaborated with local businesses and education leaders to produce STEM school guides that are being used across the country.

Congresswoman Martha McSally today released her first ad of the 2016 cycle, "Dad." The ad takes a personal look at McSally's early life and how the sudden loss of her father has influenced her mindset to give back and make a difference. "This ad really gets to the heart of what drives Martha," said McSally Campaign Manager Weston McKee. "The tragic experience of losing her dad at a young age played such an important role in motivating her to serve in uniform, take on the Pentagon and stand up for female service members, and, now, fight for Southern Arizonans in Congress. It's a personal yet powerful message about who she is." The McSally for Congress Campaign announced last week it was reserving over $350,000 in paid advertising in August. The six-figure buy will have broad reach on both broadcast and cable TV, with an emphasis on highly-rated Olympic programming. The buy also includes cable programming beyond just news as well as Pima and Cochise County radio, reaching diverse audiences across multiple networks and formats.
