9-25-16 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor Web Master John Strasser

Yesterday, The Trump-Pence Campaign Exceeded its goal of distributing over 30,000 yard signs across Arizona - a milestone that reflects the grassroots enthusiasm for Donald Trump’s candidacy across the state. Campaign officials released the following topline numbers regarding the distribution:

·         15,000 – signs distributed the past two days

·         7,500 – signs handed out today alone

·         600 – t-shirts given away

·         300 – cars greeted

·         250 – supporters signed up to volunteer

·         200 – pictures taken with the Trump standee

·         50 – volunteers helped out with today’s event

·“We are proud to have exceeded our goal of distributing 30,000 yard signs across Arizona. This milestone reflects Mr. Trump’s unprecedented grassroots support as he continues to connect with voters across our state.  While Hillary Clinton writes off half the electorate as “deplorable” or “irredeemable” in front of Wall Street donors, Mr. Trump is mobilizing hard working Americans who are tired of career Washington politicians and who will vote for change in November, said Brian Seitchik, Arizona State Director, Donald J. Trump for President.

With The First Presidential Debate Coming on Monday, Donald Trump has moved to a five-point lead over Hillary Clinton, his biggest advantage since mid-July. The latest Rasmussen Reports weekly White House Watch telephone and online survey finds Trump with 44% support among Likely U.S. Voters to Clinton’s 39%. White_House_Watch

Donald Trump responded to news that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was planning to place outspoken Trump critic Mark Cuban — a Clinton supporter — in the front row at Monday’s debate to troll the Republican nominee. “If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!” Trump responded on Twitter Saturday morning. There-Will-Be-No-Commercial-Breaks-During-The-Presidential-Debates There will be no bathroom breaks for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump during the presidential debates, an official with the Commission on Presidential Debates has confirmed.

Hillary’s-Debate-Demands-Denied-By-Commission; No-Breaks-No-Sitting Hillary made a request to the debate commission, saying that she would like to be able to sit down during the first Presidential Debate against Donald Trump on Monday, and that also there needed to be “scheduled breaks.” The commission has DENIED Hill’s requests, though, and the debates will be had on “Trump’s Terms.” … Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman asked the Commission on Presidential Debates to give the Democratic presidential nominee a step stool on stage Monday so she could avoid looking dramatically shorter than Republican rival Donald Trump, according to a new report. The Clinton camp didn’t get its wish, but Hillary will have a ‘custom-made podium, which will accommodate the difference in stature,’ according to a breaking news alert The Drudge Report published Friday morning

Bush who along with the rest of his family boycotted July's Republican National Convention was outed on social media this week as planning to vote for Hillary Clinton. Bush has not confirmed his vote to the media, but his reported decision has little impact on voters, especially his fellow Republicans. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 77% of Likely Republican Voters say Bush's decision to vote for Clinton will have no impact on their voting decision. Thirteen percent (13%), in fact, say they are less likely to vote for Clinton now versus seven percent (7%) who are more likely to vote for her because of Bush's choice. District 6 Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: Major Election Fraud Prevention Law Upheld: Ballot Harvesting Remains Illegal - The court has approved protecting our ballots from fraud and upheld the prohibition of ballot harvesting. Ballot harvesting allowed special interest groups to go door to door, fill out a voter's ballot, collect them by the thousands and turn them in. These individuals were acting as election officials but being paid by special interest groups. I have worked on trying to fix this for over four years. I worked with the Representative Ugenti-Rita and the state legislature to create a bill that would stop this practice. The special interest groups then challenged the law and took it to court. Today the court took the brave step of upholding the law, making our elections one step safer from fraud. I also worked on another bill that allowed for consolidated elections throughout the state. In order to save taxpayer money, various state and local elections can be held on the same day, which would also increase voter turn-out. The only cities in Arizona that are not doing this are Phoenix and Tucson. They don't believe they should consolidate elections during the same time as others. And the court has allowed to them to be exempt from this requirement because they are charter cities. So, because of that legal decision, Phoenix and Tucson now have low voter turnout. The court action Phoenix took basically limits voter participation and ensures that insiders control public officials through low voter turnout. I wouldn't be surprised if Phoenix and Tucson try to exempt themselves from this new ballot harvesting court ruling as well. This will ensure that a small handful of special interest groups elect and control the public officials that run those cities.
