Congressman Matt Salmon after the House confirmed the Senate’s veto override of S. 2040, the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act. “The President’s veto was surprising since it prioritized foreign interests over American citizens, but today Congress showed that it answers first to the American people. I’m proud that members on both sides of the aisle joined together and put American interests ahead of party politics for this historic vote. The September 11th attacks were heinous, but adding insult to injury was a law barring American citizens from seeking compensation simply because some of those who assisted the perpetrators were connected with a foreign government. Today’s bill rightly remedies that and gives these families access to their own courts for their own protection.”

Congressman Matt Salmon on word of the passing of Israeli statesman Shimon Peres.“As a trailblazer of peace in the Middle East, Shimon Peres will be deeply missed. He left his mark on one of our strongest allies through his tireless dedication to the dream of peace. With this dedication, he forged the first agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, ensuring safety and security for people on both sides of the conflict. His commitment to ending the scourge of violence is a vision today’s conflicted world would do well to embrace. May we recommit ourselves to the cause of peace and work toward peaceful coexistence with all people.”
Congresswoman Martha McSally on the passing of former Israeli Prime Minister and President Shimon Peres:“I join many around the world today in morning Shimon Peres, who served Israel from its earliest days to his last breath. Peres championed Israel’s security and prosperity, and was a key figure who made possible the 1993 Oslo Accords. But he will not just be remembered for his decades of service to his beloved country, but for his optimism and unfailing advocacy for peace. Peres was a visionary who spent his life working toward a better world, someone who reflected the best of all humanity, and his impact will be felt long into the future.”
Congresswoman Martha McSally: Fighting for transparency - Recently, we heard that DHS was potentially suppressing a taxpayer funded report that details the probability of an individual successfully crossing the border illegally, including estimates of those who are not detected by the U.S. Border Patrol. From hearings I've held, we know that DHS is pushing unreliable and incomplete metrics about its effectiveness on the border, which makes this information so important. That's why I sent a letter to Homeland Secretary Jeh Johnson requesting his department release its report before the end of the month. In order to rebuild trust in our system, we need transparency with the American people and full and accurate measurements of our effectiveness along the border. Read letter HERE.

Congressional candidate Paul Babeu: Our nation is being tested by Russia and Iran. We’re no longer respected by world leaders. Our economic growth continues to underperform. And it’s all on the brink of getting a lot worse if we lose in November -- if we put Hillary in the White House, or lose our majorities in the House and Senate. Winning starts today! I can’t sit by and watch as Obama, Hillary, and their ilk continue to destroy our home. I REFUSE to do nothing, but we need you to help us close strong. The end-of-quarter fundraising deadline is September 30th -- just days away. This is our last opportunity to show the pundits and experts that our momentum is real, and that our supporters are ready to fight for victory over these finals weeks of the campaign. chip in Let’s take our home back from the D.C. progressives.
Corporation Commission candidate Andy Tobin: I wanted to give you an update from the campaign trail. I am getting around the state working with our elected officials and grassroots to get my message of lean responsive government to our voters. We need conservative voices to fight for affordable power to all of Arizona's communities. Last night I spoke at the office opening of the Republican Victory office in Chandler Arizona. It was great to be with people from Chandler, Gilbert, Sun Lakes, and Mesa, who care about our state and nation and will spend their time persuading our fellow citizens to get out and vote. I know the outside interests on the left will attack me as we close out this campaign. With your help I can get my message out and respond to attacks. Please consider a donation today.
CD candidate Paul Babeu: A lot of folks in D.C. like to make excuses or point fingers. No one offers solutions. As a law man, it’s been my job to find the difficult solutions. I don’t get to make excuses, blame someone else, and hope things would go away. I’ll be the same way as your congressman. I’ve seen the impact weak border security has had on our communities. People deserve answers and not pandering. My experience has taught me to stand firm and to fight for my convictions. I think it’s safe to say we share those convictions. In D.C. I’ll fight to deliver the conservative victories our country needs, that the people of Arizona deserve, and I don’t care who I have to go up against to do it. So will you join me? We’re facing a deadline and I need you with me, friend. Chip In Let’s win this together.
