11-30-16 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor      Web Master John Strasser

Questions Have Been Circulating since the LD13 Organizational Meeting was held on Nov 22. Here are some of them:

1. Why did a half dozen Wickenburg PCs not receive their call letters that outgoing Chairman Wally Campbell says PCs should have been received by Nov 4 or 5? She says she also sent back up e-mails to those whose e-dresses she has.

     a. Campbell announced at the Nov 22 meeting she would be calling for a Federal investigation regarding the undelivered Wickenburg PC call letters.

     b. On Nov 25, Wickenburg PC Scott Powelson requested that all LD13 PCs (district wide) who did not receive their Call Letters, contact him at or 714-623-9101

2. Why were LD13 PCs not given the names/lists of the LD officers and state committee nominees prior to the meeting so they could review the candidates they were to vote on prior to voting?

      a) Nov 9 was deadline for submitting nominations to Nominations Chairman Joe Marvin and his committee consisting of Diane Landis and JoAnn Dunn. Marvin was asked for a list of nominees the morning of Nov 19. That afternoon he replied, “I'm in Seattle for the weekend and will be happy to send it tomorrow (Sun) night when we get back.” Briefs received no nominee lists for posting from Marvin between Sun, Nov 19 and Tues., Nov 22.

3. Why would the Nominating Committee approve the nominations of PCs who rarely – if ever - attended the 2016 monthly meetings?

     a) Former Sec Renee Taylor verified this week that the 2016 meeting sign in sheets show that newly elected First Vice Chairman Matt King and newly elected Secretary Karri King only signed into one 2016 meeting prior to the election. The sign in sheets don’t show newly elected Second Vice-Chairman Michael Carbone and Treasurer Kim Schoag attending any 2016 meetings prior to the Nov 22 election.

4. Why did Campbell publicly state that she didn’t know why incumbent Sec Renee Taylor was absence prior to the officer’s election?

     a) Former Sec Renee Taylor says she has copies of the messages she sent via phone and e-mail to Campbell on Nov 16 and 17, notifiying Campbell she would not be attending the Nov 22 due to family commitments in Prescott . The meeting had been moved from its regular second Tuesday of the month due to the Presidential elections – rescheduling it two days before Thanksgiving.

5. Why did Campbell get so annoyed at former Chairman Robert Branch when he informed her that some state committeemen ballots were errantly placed in the LD officers election ballot box and should be removed prior to her calling a close to the officer balloting.

     a. Elections officer Kim Owens intervened, and directed the ballot boxes be opened and the state committeemen ballots removed – as Branch had requested. Several PCs retrieved their miscast state committeemen ballots before Campbell called a close to LD officer balloting. The Credential and Tally Committee consisted of Ray Kouns, Jo Ann Dunn, Estelle Bestwick, Richard Landis, and Cid De La Fuentes.

6. Why did Campbell appear so stressed that evening?

      a) Campbell told Briefs yesterday that the reason she appeared so stressed that evening was because her husband was in ICU after having a heart attack on Sunday evening and stents put in Monday.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports that Dr Kelli Ward got a warm reception after speaking to the Colorado River Tea Party Patriots shortly after announcing she plan to run against Sen Jeff Flake in 2018. At one point, Ward asked the attendees to raise their hands if they want “to replace Jeff Flake,” and reporter Neil Young noted that “it appeared that every hand was raised.”
