About 10 Days Ago, Briefs praised the three AZGOP Chairman candidates - Jim O’Connor, Frank Thorwald and Jonathan Lines - for their “gentleman’s agreement” not to participate in mudslinging campaigns like those of the past. It was a wise move on the three candidate’s part - in light of ugly, well-remembered Establishments efforts of two years ago to crush grassroots candidate Lori Urban.
Nevertheless, someone apparently didn’t get the message, as shortly before Christmas, two anonymous pieces surfaced against grassroots candidate O’Connor – in what some believe to be an effort to dispose of O’Connor’s candidacy. On Dec 23, an anonymous individual challenged the unknown author of Arizona-LD23s-Very-Own-Obama-Pelosi-Duo-Part-I and LD23’s Very Own Obama-Pelosi Duo – Part II requesting proof of the allegations against O’Connor. The anonymous respondent points out the two-part series are “long on name-calling and innuendoes, but very short on facts.” Among the respondent’s thought provoking quest for answers, he/she questions “By what authority can the AZGOP Chairman ‘order’ a new election?” and what authority empowers the state chairman to “seat a new group of state committeemen,” undoing the rights of the LD 23 PCs to be represented at the statutory organizational meeting of the state committee by state committeemen of their choosing? The respondent goes on to suggest that a letter from Graham to O’Connor and a response from newly elected LD23 Chairman Nancy Ordowski’s to Graham, will inform readers of facts omitted in the Duo-Part-I and Duo – Part II articles. See Graham and Ordowski’s letters at ld23gop.org/ Editor’s note: In light of the complaints by PCs in LD13, 17, 23, 24, 25 etc about the Organizational Meetings, Briefs sent a message to Graham on Dec 18 and resent the same message on Dec 20, asking if any other LDs received similar letters to the one he sent O’Connor. Graham has not responded at post time.- ft
And Speaking Of Allegations, AZGOP candidates Jonathan Lines and Frank Thorwald, and outgoing AZGOP chairman Robert Graham, deny reports that have circulated for weeks that Graham hand-picked Lines and/or Thorwald as his replacement. – ft
Recently AZGOP Chairman Candidate Jonathan Lines and Activist Lisa James said reports circulating that they had met on a Sunday afternoon for a strategy meeting for Lines campaign were inaccurate. Lines said that he spent that specific Sunday afternoon in “informational gatherings” with PC representatives from LD 12, 24, 28, 25, 23, 18, 11, and 22. Participants verified that Lines meet with the PCs at the home of Kathy Petsas in Scottsdale. James says she spent that particular Sunday “in my church nursery, Christmas shopped, cleaned my house and attended my daughter's piano recital before fixing and serving my family dinner. I did not meet with nor speak to Jonathan Lines on Sunday.”
James has since confirmed that Lines recently meet with some of the Dodie London grads in her conference room – but not the day in question. Which goes to prove how political reports get scrambled as they travel across the Valley. - ft
Briefs Thanks All Of You who sent Christmas greetings. There are too many to post all of them, but here is a random sampling. - ft
Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day celebrating Christmas: “Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends. Even as we celebrate, we must also remember those among us who are less fortunate. Many on this day are without hope, and need the kindness and compassion of those around them. It is our prayer we will rise to meet the material, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals all around us, and what better day is there to love our fellow man than today? As we open presents, enjoy Christmas dinner, and celebrate our own family traditions, we are mindful of our men and women in uniform. Many are stationed around the world today protecting our freedoms, and cannot be with their own spouses, children, parents, and siblings. We express the deepest gratitude for service that takes them away from celebrating with loved ones, and we ought to remember them in our thoughts and prayers not just on Christmas Day, but the whole year round.”
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day celebrating Hanukkah: “As our Jewish friends and family around the country gather to light the first candle, we hope they will enjoy a special time of closeness and joy this Hanukkah season. These eight nights serve as a reminder of how the Maccabees never gave up hope amidst danger and uncertainty, and each year the Festival of Lights is a time to reflect on the power of faith and perseverance. We wish a Happy Hanukkah to all who are gathering around the menorah, and pray this year’s festivities will be a time of celebration and blessings for our Jewish communities.”

I hope each of us can take the time to cherish the blessings we do have and enjoy precious time with family and friends. I also send my sincere thanks and warmest wishes to those serving our country, away from their families, to keep us safe. May your Christmas be filled with the joy and love of the season!

Former US Senate candidate Alex Meluskey: As we celebrate the birth of Christ, and the Festival of lights Roberta and I would like to wish all of you the best. We would also like to thank all of those that have served in defense of this great nation. During my campaign for US Senate, I introduced my Contract with America’s Veterans and Their Families (CAV). This contract was a campaign promise that I will continue to fulfill regardless of my stage or position in life. Contact: www.cav.vet. At this time CAV is working to fulfill the following:
· Inform all candidates running for Federal office of gross negligence in regards to reciprocation to our veterans and their families for their sacrifices taken on behalf of all US citizens via a contract that points out the shortcomings.
· To log candidate positions in regards to the afore mentioned contract.
· To follow up once elected and rate effort and fulfillment toward contract completion.
· To make such information readily available to the public.
George Washington understood as likely no other Commander in Chief the need to support not only our troops in service, but our troops after they have served. “The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by our nation.” -- George Washington. We make George Washington’s plea as our pledge to fulfill the Contract With America’s Veterans. Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah,

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl regarding Arizona’s-Republicans-Leaders-Continue-Waging-War-On-Grassroots “The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing.” – Edmond Burke. The autocratic by-laws need to be completely rewritten. Every large organization is controlled by a board of directors or an Executive Committee. “A. Executive Committee The executive committee of the state committee's shall consist of the elected officers of the state committee, the national committeeman and committeewoman, the chairman and first and second vice chairman from each county, three members at large from each congressional district, and the president/chairman of each nationally recognized Republican auxiliary organization with at least 2,000 dues-paying members in the state. The state chairman shall chair the executive committee. The executive committee shall approve the annual budget and review and counsel the state chairman on all programs relating to the state party. The executive committee shall meet at least three times each year.” The committee should be made up of just the state and county chairmen. They are the ones who run the party. The committee should meet monthly during an election year and quarterly during an off election year. The county chairs should elect their own chairman with an open agenda. Since the chair controls the agenda, this gives all committeemen the right to present their input at the meetings, and causes the state chair to be responsible to the committee. From the web link above one can see what happens with no control and when RINOs rule. True, some chairs may be RINOs but a conservative Executive Committee could soon identify them to the AZ GOP membership. With a communications program we would probably not find ourselves in the mess we face now. Some thought that a turning point may have been reached when the AzRA was organized. We are to have a party election next month, and who has heard anything from the AzRA??
