1-17-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net         Web Master John Strasser

Condolences To The Family of Precinct committeeman Kerry and Andrew Costanzo, who lost Kerry's dad Rod O'Neal Saturday morning after a long illness. Funeral plans pending. Sympathy cards to PO Box 28091, Tempe AZ 85285.

Found At MCRC Meeting: Someone turned in a flag pin, a nice piece of jewelry, found on the ground outside during check-in for the Maricopa County Republican Committee’s Statutory meeting on Saturday. Also, reading glasses in plastic frame with bling was found during cleanup.

Looking For Carla’s Earring. If any of you ladies found a new “elephant” earring (pewter with red stones) in the handicap stall of the ladies restroom on Saturday during the Maricopa County Republican Committee’s meeting, please contact Carla Schoonhoven at carlarschoo@gmail.com She thinks it may have slipped off her ear when she removed a turtle-neck sweater. If you retrieved it, please contact her.

Rev Clyde Bowen – AAARC: A man, raised in a strict, religious, Republican household once said, "I have a dream that one day my four little children will someday, Not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the Content of their character." See top_10_martin_luther_king_jr_quotes from one of America's most influential souls Study the quotes, Share the quotes, Model the quotes. - Dr Martin Luther King Jr, January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968. Also see martin-luther-kings-letter-from-birmingham-jail Contact Bowen at aaarc6@centurylink.net

Former AZ PC Wayne Blair: Activist Milvia Stokes can blame some of this on Brian Reilly for openly going against Sheriff Joe during the campaign, Matter of fact I think Brian Reilly ought to wear a diaper pin like all the Liberials/Socialist/Communist that are against POTUS Trump.

Kevin Calabrese - President, ASU College Republicans: I appreciate you including some of our meetings and events in the Briefs in the past. It really helps spread the word about what we’re doing. kevincalabrese@outlook.com

Dan Grimm, MCRC Statutory Meeting Planning Committee Co-Chair: Saturday was the start of a new day for the Maricopa County Republican Committee. Instead of asking for everyone to start their day in the dark, we were able to move Credentials from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Official Start time changed from 9 AM to 10:30 AM (actually closer to 11 AM), and we still concluded our business before 4 PM. None of this would have been possible without our AMAZING volunteers! I would like to offer my special thanks to Liz Alcorn, Cathy Schwanke, and April Riggins, who led the way in organizing the event and followed through with incredible attention to detail, working with our host El Zaribah. Other committee chairs for the event, without whom we could not have stayed on course were Jerry Clingman, parking, George Ortiz, Security, Frank Thorwald, Set-up, and Nancy and Les Cottle, and Pat Oldroyd for the signs and banners set up on Friday afternoon before the event.

Credentials works so well because of all the LD Chairs who recruit volunteers, who show up the week before for training, and early the morning of the event. As always, George Teegarden supplies us with the most up to date information for verifying proxies and recruits an incredible team of volunteers to greet everyone first thing in the morning. Wes Harris, in addition to running his own campaign, volunteered to share in Proxy Set-up and training!

Thanks to Nominations Chair Raymond Jones, Bylaws Chair Dan Schultz, Resolutions Chair Linda Brickman, and Sgt. at Arms, the indomitable Barbara Medal, Media Chair Tim Horn, Legal Counsel Ted Naeckel, and Parliamentarian Christopher Campbell.

Congratulations to our new officers, who hit the ground running on Saturday afternoon!

Activist Chris Brant: I want to commend Tyler Bowyer and his team for running a well-oiled and efficient meeting Saturday. I am no computer Whizz Kid (68 years old) and I was unable to pull up WiFi on my Mac Book Pro. This may have been an internal computer security problem. I then lined up to use one of the lap tops up front. I fumbled around, like many, the first time up there using new equipment. However, we should always remember before we complain that the only one that likes change is “a baby with a soiled nappy”. The overall result was that this change saved a great deal of time for everyone. Comparing this county meeting to others in recent memory, it was far superior and more professional than earlier ones. Again, thank you Tyler.

Barbara Medal PC, SC and Patriot: Regarding the ridiculous county meeting debacle it was the worst run meeting I have ever attended. The vendor tables created a noisy impediment to running a well-organized meeting. Leading the noise factor was candidate Kelli Ward and other candidates. We’ve never conducted a meeting with vendors in the room; they have always remained outside where the business at hand could proceed without distraction. Although the vendors have always been part of the Lincoln event our meeting should have been attended without the distraction electioneering and vending wares.

Too many left after the officer election, many could not successfully complete the voting process due to electronic interference. The failure, again, of our bylaws passing was a deliberate and planned distraction as without the 2/3 requirement became the disqualifier.

The attempt to individually vote on State Committeemen by district was also a contrived effort to disqualify LD 23 PC elections of State Committeemen regardless of type of call to meeting. This was a blatant attempt to disqualify one of the largest district’s state committeeman elections. Have we come to such a despicable place in our Party that sabotage is the modus of operandi to destroy an adversary? Are we to look forward to similar attacks at the State meeting?? Possibly!! No you can probably bet on it.

So State Committeemen it is up to each and every one of you to stand up as the voice of the grass roots and demand that no district be denied the will of their precinct committeemen in a lawful and rightful election or be intimidated by our State Chairman who has not the authority to do this which as usual his mode of operandi to do whatever he deems his right, which it is NOT! God bless us and America and may justice prevail.

LD27 PC Art Olivas: When my wife and I checked in we were given a piece of paper that I was told was voting material. I asked some one next to me if he knew what this all about? He answered very irritated - they are pulling the same ole Sh**t they did 2 yrs ago! Then I knew why I had to bring my lap-top. I found Tyler Bowyer and asked why we doing this, if it caused so much trouble at the last election? His asinine answer was we have a Democrat as a county recorder now.

A lot of people in our group were not able to connect to Wi-Fi! Needless to say my lap-top was useless. Some said to hell with it and left! That was not the worst part, water was $2:25 per bottle & $10 for a turkey & cheese sandwich on a hoagie roll. If you called what happen Saturday a success we are not on the same plantation! What turned my stomach was the way the Republicans In Name Only were promoting McCain and getting signatures on petitions for the RINO Jeff Flake! I keep saying, "We need to drain the swamp in Arizona! Until we do; nothing is changing. Everything Obama did to our country was done with money from Congress, was said to me when our members were up on stage at kissie kissie time. Not one of our congressmen gave us inspiration on how to better our country by getting rid of the 2 Rinos in the senate!!

That tells me that they are in accord with John McCain and Jeff Flake and not supporting us - yet they beg for our money and vote! Establishment won and McCain train is on a roll. Wake up people; we need to drain the swamp in ARIZONA!!!

LD23 PC Boe James: Rich Rutkowski's statement about the Golden Ticket in the Briefs 1-16-17-briefs contains a couple of misstatements.  Not All candidates listed on the Golden Ticket received a majority vote of the PCs present at the endorsement meeting.  Neither Aaron Flannary, candidate for MC Recorder, who received only 44% (67 votes) nor Cecil Yates, winning candidate for Town Council, who received on 26 votes (17%) obtained a majority of the votes; yet both were on the LD 23 Golden Ticket (Fountain Hills version). The vote results are shown on this website page from the LD 23 website. The vote results are shown on this website page from the LD 23 website. may 12, 2016 golden ticket vote

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

300 word limit policy. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited

Congressman Paul Gosar: The 2016 election will be remembered as the year of the silent majority that put a stop to business as usual in Washington D.C. After more than eight years of big government policies from an Administration detached from the actual challenges facing millions of Americans, Donald Trump offered an alternative path forward, fighting to end the status quo and dysfunction in a broken political system.

For my part, I plan on working closely with the Trump Administration to build a safer America that works for everyone and empowers individual liberty, not big government control. I was recently elected Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus. Through this important position I will have a unique opportunity to coordinate with the new Administration in order to deliver results for the West and all Americans. We can accomplish a lot by listening to the people and engaging in a dialog that facilitates practical solutions.

Congressman Paul Gosar: On Friday, the House successfully voted to begin the process of repealing Obamacare.  I had a conversation with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business Network about the next step in establishing the proper foundation for a competitive and consumer-driven health insurance marketplace. The healthcare insurance industry continues to be one of the least competitive and least transparent industries in the entire nation. That’s because for over 70 years health insurers have enjoyed a special legal exemption from anti-trust laws resulting in less competition and higher healthcare costs for every single American family. By restoring federal anti-trust laws to the business of health insurance, my legislation that I introduced this week represents a critical first step to establishing the proper foundation for a competitive and consumer-driven health insurance marketplace. Hospitals, doctors and most importantly, patients benefit when health insurers compete to provide quality coverage. Ending this special-interest exemption is an integral piece of any Obamacare repeal effort and is the only reform that will actually rein in insurance company practices, increase competition and lower prices for consumers.
