1-26-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor         Web Master John Strasser

Frank Thorwald Withdraws As AZGOP Chair Candidate: As of Today, I am no longer a candidate for Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. I wish to thank all my supporters for their tireless work on my behalf. Also, I would like to thank the other candidates for chairman for honoring our gentleman’s agreement not to attack one another when campaigning on the issues. As many of you know, I have been in communications since November with Trump’s staff about serving in the Trump Administration. I intended, if elected, to serve as Chairman for two years and then look at the possibilities of serving in the Trump Administration. However, the opportunities are looking extremely positive. Therefore, I have decided to withdraw, at this time, and look to the future for running again as state chairman. During the interim period between now and when I would start serving in the Trump Administration, I have offered my services to assist whichever candidate is elected to the State Chairman.

My goals have not altered throughout the campaign; I still believe that we need to have clarity, transparency in all things that we do. The chairman needs a kitchen cabinet made up of all factions of the party, so that they can express their views and ideas. We need to tailor how we grow the party and the training of our wonderful PC resources to each of the counties and LDs throughout the state; reorganize our meeting dates, so that we do not have multiple LDs or counties meeting on the same night, so the trainers, chairman and candidates can visit and work with the county and LD PCs more often. I have proposed and worked with the other candidates for state chairman as well as several county chairmen to develop draft legislation to deal with proxies and to allow for teleconferencing and remote voting, so that we can get greater participation from PCs throughout the state.

Again, I wish to thank all of you considering me for chairman and it has been a great honor to meet and work with all the wonderful party members throughout the state. This is not goodbye, simply looking at where my talents can provide the greatest benefit to our nation and to our party.

LD16 State Committeeman Kay Reardon to SC's/Officer's and Chairman Clingman: Our LD16 State Committeemen have either not received their Call letter or they received a letter from the Arizona Republican Party addressed to another SC's with their address on it. Some SC's didn't open the letter because it was not addressed the them, which could be a violation of the law. As soon as I received phone calls and emails regarding this, I called the AZGOP Headquarters about at least getting an Official Proxy because we have people not able to attend and was told to go to the website to get one. It is not on the website. On January 21st, I received a fellow SC's call letter opened it, scanned and emailed it to all of our State Committeemen so they would have a Call letter. The Bylaws Committee is supposed to have their first meeting today 1/25/17 at 5:15 pm. It seems that Chairman Robert Graham is too busy fighting to get his hand-picked Candidate Jonathan Lines elected and hurting Candidate Jim O'Connor and the SC's of LD23 than taking care of AZGOP business and running a honest meeting and election. PC's have had issues with every meeting or election that Robert Graham has run. We demand that he run the meeting honest and fairly or resign.  Reardon is the LD16 secretary.

Chris Morrill, LD 27 State Committeeman: AZ GOP Collusion -Courtesy of  AZ GOP a very interesting occurrence has transpired in LD 27 that demonstrates collusion between Graham's AZ GOP HQ and Jonathan Lines, candidate for state chair, and also creates a very dubious arrangement for some alleged LD 23 State Committeemen. Most of the LD 27 State Committeemen have received three pieces of mail in recent days in the following order: the AZ GOP Call to Meeting, a campaign letter from Jonathan Lines and a letter supposedly from LD 23 that excoriates the good name of Jim O'Connor.  The address labels for EACH mailing had the SAME identical errors demonstrating that they were all sent from the same AZ GOP corrupted mailing list. The physical addresses on each label were correct, but all three letters were addressed to the SAME incorrect state committeeman.   So with each letter, "A" received "B's" three letters, "B" received "C's" three letters and so on.  How can this be unless the letters were sent out by the same entity or at the very least using a shared mailing list?  Take a look: Ironically, the first sentence of the junk mail letter sent allegedly by "GOP Precinct Committeemen Legislative District 23" reads, "First, we hope we're addressing you correctly."  The answer is NO you are not, but you are addressing me in identical fashion as AZ GOP and Jonathan Lines. Robert Graham has no business utilizing AZ GOP recourses to help Lines or anyone for that matter succeed him in office.  The RIGHT to elect the next chair is the state committeemen's, and their RIGHT alone.  It is not too late for Robert Graham to do the honorable thing and resign.

LD26 State Committeeman Joe Neglia: I don't know if the AZGOP Chair has hired a Professional Registered Parliamentarian to preside over Saturday's meeting, but if so, I sure hope it's NOT this one, who shut down the Graham Censure and the Anybody But McCain Resolutions at our 2016 meeting:

Former Maricopa County Republican Chairman A J LaFaro to Gov Doug Ducey: I saw you last evening on CBS Channel 5 where you made the statement "everyone knows I'm against discrimination in all its forms". Why would you say something like that when you've turned your back on the hundreds of dedicated, hard-working, grassroots conservative, Republican state committeemen in Legislative District (LD) 23 et al. Influential members of the Republican Party in America, Arizona and individuals you will more than likely try to reach out to when you run for reelection. Not only are you Arizona's Republican Governor, you are the highest ranking member of the AZGOP yet you continue to look the other way while these respected members of LD23 et al. are being harassed, discriminated against and disenfranchised.   For the sake of the Republican Party's future and survival here in Arizona, I beseech you to intervene in this serious situation and help end the dirty tricks and underhanded backroom behavior at the AZGOP so all of our duly elected state committeemen can vote on Saturday at the AZGOP statutory meeting.

LD23 Chairman Nancy Ordowski To LD23 PCs: What's really going on in LD23? You have all received communications from AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham making various allegations of impropriety related to the nomination and election of our 119 State Committeemen.  Despite his various unfounded claims, Graham has no legitimate basis nor authority in state law or any bylaws to justify or support his actions.  LD23 Republican Committee has done nothing wrong and your elected officers continue to actively pursue all reasonably available options to defend the rights of our 119 legally- and duly-elected State Committeemen to participate fully in the AZGOP  Statutory Meeting on Saturday, January 28. If you haven't already done so, please take a few minutes to watch the videos linked below with our First Vice-Chairman, Tim Horn, explaining what's really going on in LD23.  Please share these videos and let every State Committeeman and PC in Arizona know what's really going on! Video 1: What's really going on in LD23? Video 2: What's really going on in LD23?

McCain-Comes-Out-Swinging-Against-Trump-Administration John McCain is making it very clear that he isn’t just going to go along with everything President Trump proposes, despite the fact they are both Republicans. The Arizona senator just won a six-year term so he isn’t concerned about being re-elected. And just a few days into the new administration, he’s showing that he has no problem speaking out against the president. “Look, there's no evidence of that and I think that those who allege that have to come up with some substantiation of the claim,” McCain said Wednesday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe about Trump’s claim that millions have people voted illegally and cost him the popular vote in the election.

John-McCain, Jeff-Flake-Voice-Mail-Full Constituents are swamping Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake with phone calls about President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees, and the senators' staffs are struggling to keep the office voice-mail boxes open, leading to frustration for some callers. Prompted by liberal advocacy group and other organizations, constituents are calling in numbers so great that McCain and Flake's offices say they are overloading the system. Once the voice-mail boxes are full, no more messages can be accepted.

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after introducing bipartisan legislation, the Bureau of Reclamation Transparency Act, which would require the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) to do a thorough inventory of its assets as well as prioritize major repairs necessary at the agency’s facilities: “The Trump Administration has made it clear that business as usual in Washington D.C. is over. For too long, federal agencies like BOR have not been held accountable for how it spends taxpayer dollars. This lack of oversight has proven to be a recipe for rampant waste, fraud and abuse. For years, Congress and water users throughout the country have asked for a full accounting of BOR only to be rebuffed time and again. My bipartisan bill will require a cost estimate and a detailed list of major repairs for BOR facilities and allow for meaningful steps to be taken to address the maintenance backlog. This transparency will ensure an abundant supply of clean water and power for future generations.” The full text HERE.

US Sen candidate Kelli Ward: One of the greatest gifts America has given the world is over two centuries of showing how to peacefully transfer power from our current elected official to a newly elected one.  My daughter and I were fortunate to participate in and to witness the Inauguration of our new President - Donald J. Trump.See our Facebook page, Twitter, or Instagram. Standing in the cold weather with hundreds of thousands of fellow supporters of our newly elected President, we joined local Arizonans as well as two Marines to listen to the ceremony. While the Inauguration ceremony in front of the US Capitol is open to all citizens, you still have to obtain tickets.  A big thank you to Congressman Paul Gosar and his terrific staff for providing our tickets. A big part of the Inauguration is to attend one of the many balls spread out across Washington DC.  I was incredibly excited and humbled to take Katie with me to the Freedom Ball, an official ball for the new President.  The crowd each night was incredibly patriotic, energizing, and uplifting! Spending the past few days in our nation's capital reinvigorated my commitment to ensure that we as Americans continue to be that "Shining City on a Hill" for the world that Ronald Reagan reminded all of us the United States represents to the whole world. In the past few weeks, many of us in Arizona participated in county party elections and we are headed to the state party elections this coming weekend.  Let's all remember that ours is a Republic that depends on each elector representing the many people that are counting on us to make prudent, conservative decisions.  As we head into 2017, let's pledge to become part of the positive change that our nation craves.  Leadership matters.  President Donald Trump has pledged to make America great again.  Let's join him by doing our part in Arizona!
