1-31-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor      Web Master John Strasser

President Donald J Trump: “America is a proud nation of immigrants and we will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do so while protecting our own citizens and border. America has always been the land of the free and home of the brave. We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say. My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion - this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days. I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria. My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.”

Floating the Internet: CNN Is Reportedly Asking For People To Call Them and leave a message if they have a story that they are stranded or inconvenienced by Trump's ban. Trump supporters have flipped the message and are asked to call and leave a message that you are pleased with Trump's ban because he is keeping us safe! Here's the number: 1(646) 535-9720. Let's blow up their phone lines! Make America Great Again!

White House Spokesman Sean Spicer announced that acting Attorney General Sally Yates has been relieved of her duty after she sent a memo instructing Justice Department attorneys not to defend Trump’s refugee and travel order.

A Convention Goer “found it very interesting that Lines had some very professional signs made while the other candidates did not...Cost money for those.  So did The McCain machine purchase them? And still with all the money that went into his campaign and the calls that went out for him...He only won by 30 votes out the 1000+ available.”

LD23 PC Chris Brant: The elections results at county and state level have been uplifting and positive for the Republican Party. I am passionate about my party and I had been very concerned about its future in Arizona. That is why I came out against one of the candidates before even learning about who else was running for State Chairman. Like many of you, I know of Republicans who have re-registered as Independents, who were disgusted with the way they were treated, sick of the infighting from all sides and didn’t feel welcome at district meetings. I was convinced that many more sincere, hard-working Republicans would have been driven away across the state. The elections are now over and I am determined to focus on changing the atmosphere in my district. The results of the two elections this month are, I believe, a turning point. There were obviously enough people who were fed up with the infighting that has been going on for the past four years and they have spoken. There were some individuals who spoke out directly, spreading the word about their concerns and experiences, but without many sensible, informed Republican PCs the results would have been very different.I am not going to pre-judge any of those who run my district. There are certainly questions to be answered; the lack of action by the Board to seat Dr. CT Wright and the fact that other qualified members were not approached to attend the State meeting in place of the no shows; but after these questions have been addressed I am moving on. Therefore, I am going to look for likeminded individuals who are not into name-calling and are willing to work towards unifying the party. Looking forward to a new day and meetings where we can enjoy each other's company.

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: Confusion!  Things that equal to the same thing are equal to each other. The voters throughout the state in Arizona voted for Donald Trump.  Also, those same voters throughout the state in Arizona voted for Senator McCain, who is of the same political party as Donald Trump.  Normally, it is expected that Republicans support Republicans to enhance party power, there is strength in numbers.  Now consider, the AZ GOP represents all of the Republican voters through Arizona through it organization of county Republican committees that includes thousands of Precinct Committeemen.  One of the main goals of a political party, unstated, is UNITY, and to maintain any kind of unity there must be a good line of communications between the party leadership and the county leadership!  We know that McCain does not support Trump and that is a negative for the Republican Party.  We have known for a long time that McCain is not a party man, he was even censured by the state committee at an official meeting and even after that was re-elected as a state senator in D.C..  That tells us a couple of things.  First off, the voters in Arizona are suffering from ignorance of political happenings, or simply don’t care.  The second thing is that the AZ GOP leadership has seemingly been so controlled by the elected elite that they simply refuse to act as a leader and inform, or take issue, with this sort of issues.  And who is to blame?  People deserve the government that they elect. It’s been noted that Mr. Lines, like Mr. Graham, is pro-McCain.  You, the voter, does McCain or Trump represent your political views?  Do you feel AZ GOP support?   We’re anxious to read a message from Mr. lines with some details as to what he expects he can lead the party!

LD23 PC Boe James: With the close vote for Chairman, it shows that people don't think there is much difference between the two candidates or that we are a divided party. Unfortunately, I think it is the latter. If we don't work together as Republicans, we will have Democrats win more state offices next year (Nov 2018). I prefer a Republican who agrees with me 30% of the time to a Democrat who agrees with me none of the time (or even 10- 20%) of the time.  Somehow this name calling between and within the Republican Party of Maricopa County and the State of Arizona and within the various LDs (especially LD 23) has got to stop.  AND SOON or we will go down in flames next election.  We lost to County-wide offices this last election.  We can't afford to lose 2 state wide offices or one Senate seat; and we need to work together hold, and hopefully gain, US House seats. Editor’s Note: Name calling hasn’t divided the party as much as the systematic cleansing of hard working conservative members from leadership ranks and other divisive, underhanded shenanigans that have been occurring the past five or six years. - ft

Congressman Trent Franks response to the President’s Executive Order and the ensuing hysteria from the Left: “I agree with the President’s statement on the Executive Order on immigration. Once the implementation has been smoothed out,  the Executive Order will ultimately ensure those who want to come to America, those who respect and share our values, will find a welcome refuge through “the golden door”. Those tired, poor, and huddled masses, those homeless and tempest-tossed, who are willing to respect our Constitution and way of life, will be granted asylum and maybe even a new home. Those who wish to do us harm or who despise the values which make us great will no longer be naively welcomed with open arms.”

Congressman Andy Biggs: “The growth of radical Islamic terrorism over the past two decades has changed the dangers facing the world. From September 11th to the many tragic events carried out by terrorists in the United States and around the world, the importance of vetting immigrants coming to America to ensure they pose no security threat has never been higher. President Donald Trump’s recent executive order to strengthen and control our immigrant vetting system is rooted in a sincere desire to prioritize the safety and security of Americans, and is based on historical precedent. For example, the Obama administration temporarily suspended visas from Iraqi nationals in 2011, following FBI intelligence that terrorists were exploiting the system, and restricted use of the visa-waiver program for the same seven countries highlighted in President Trump’s executive order in 2015. While President Trump’s order needs clarification and Congressional oversight, it is within his constitutional authority and fulfills a need for stricter vetting of immigrants. This order is exactly what President Trump said he would do during the campaign, and he should be applauded for following through with his promises. The United States of America will always be a nation of and compassionate to immigrants, but we must ensure the safety of American citizens above all else.  I look forward to working with the White House and Congress to this end.”

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after President Donald Trump named former Arizona State Senator Carlyle Begay (R-Ganado) as his White House Advisor on Indian Affairs: America’s tribal communities face many challenges that must be addressed head-on by the Trump Administration. The president’s decision to appoint a strong and effective leader like Senator Begay sends a clear message to Native Americans across the country that their voices will be heard in the White House. Arizonans should be especially proud that one of our own has been selected to serve in this distinguished position. I am incredibly proud to call Carlyle a friend and applaud his dedication to building positive solutions for all Americans. I look forward to working with this great Arizonan in passing legislation that strengthens tribal and rural communities.”
