2-17-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net      Web Master John Strasser

“In The 2018 Elections, already underway, our biggest goal in Arizona is to rid ourselves of the likes of Sen. Jeff Flake. Finishing his first term in 2018, he has been widely known at McCain's boy…” See full story Defeat McCain by Defeating Flake

Michael Savage believes Michael Flynn, who was forced to resign from his position as director of the National Security Agency, was a victim of the “deep state,” and he explained why the retired lieutenant general’s departure was such a great loss for the country. See full column flynn-a-victim-of-deep-state

The Senate, by a narrow vote of 51-49, confirms Republican Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina as director of the White House budget office. McCain opposes. See story senate-narrowly-confirms-mulvaney-as-trumps-budget-director

Activist Gary Ripley: Pro tip for Ward, specifying NeverTrumpers like Cruz/Lee in her statements is probably not the best way to do things. See 2-16-17-briefs “Candidate statements.”

Jeannie McGill Granite Mountain PC: Your 2-16-17-briefs article exemplifies the reason we need a pre-primary vote so that when we have the general primary election, we only have 2 candidates. Otherwise, we will never get rid of an incumbent who has disappointed us. I have a plan! Let’s do it.

Activist Diane Andersen: Thank you for you wonderful service to conservatives.

Zack Taylor, Chairman NAFBPO.org/: Atlanta is believed to be a Cartel Hub City.  Georgia is reported to have a larger illegal alien population than Arizona. The information has been available for years pointing to the major source country for heroin in the U.S. being Mexico. Yet, most of the United States is squabbling over prescription drugs. Obviously in an effort to deflect attention away from the border insecurity problem they have not yet "discovered". See full story atlanta-summit-exploding-heroin-abuse-and-overdose-deaths-georgia

LD18 Senate candidate Frank Schmuck: Thank you for your interest in my campaign for Arizona State Senate in 2016. It was a remarkable race in the general election. Of all the partisan races, most all county, state and national Republican candates who touched our district, lost to Democrats in Legislative District 18. As the 2nd highest Republican vote earner in LD18, I have officially filed to run for Arizona State Senate in 2018. There is evidence that the two propositions, 205 and 206, related to recreational marijuana and minimum wage respectively, may have been the impetus giving Democrats multiple wins in our district. This seems to be the common thread explaining why most all incumbents lost their races or moved from top in votes to second or third best in the district.

Here is a breakdown of the all the partisan general races touching Legislative District 18 and the total votes for each sorted by highest republican votes.

clip_image002
Our race was close at less than three points. Nearly 8,500 voters showed up to the polls but didn’t cast a vote in our race (undervotes). That alone could have been the difference. Without these two propositions on the ballot in 2018 we can and will win, but need your help! There are a couple things I plan to do differently in 2018:

     · Effective immediately I will accept Political Action Committee funds to level the playing field with my opponent, and

     · We will model our strategy more like our previous primary where we won decisively defeating the incumbent, Jeff Dial.

We are building a war chest to turn LD18 Red again. Help stop the liberal agenda in our district that's inconsistent with our county, state and nation? SCHMUCK for AZ Senate I’m in and will match your contribution dollar for dollar. That’s skin in the game, so let’s do it. www.FrankSCHMUCK.com

LD22 Chair Rae Chornenky and PC KarenThomas: On Saturday, March 4, “Spirit of America Pro Trump Rallies” will be held across America, including here in Arizona!  We hope you will want to participate.  If so, get your signs, flags, etc. ready.  For more info, please go to spirit-america-conservative-grassroots-leaders-plan-massive-pro-trump-demonstrations-nationwide.

Robo Calls Were Busy informing voters of Tracey Livingston’s announcement to run for the State Superintendent of Public Insstruction, charging current Supt Diane Douglas hasn’t done enough to rid the state of Common Core. Livingston has been a teacher for 18 years. She is married to Rep David Livingston.

Things Might Get Real Interesting regarding the Supt of Public Instruction race. Diane Douglas most likely will run for re-election, Tracey Livingston just tossed her hat into the ring. Scuttlebutt has it that two more people will be announcing in the near future – but they aren’t ready to go public yet. -ft

Maricopa County GOP Chairman Chris Herring has appointed four people to his kitchen cabinet:

   · Sergeant-At-Arms – LD27 First Vice Chair John Eaton.

Governor Ducey’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family and the Phoenix Final Four Local Organizing Committee (PLOC) have teamed up to engage  communities in all of Arizona’s 15 counties for a “Weekend of Action” February 17 – 19, 2017 to show that on and off the court we are all winners! The goal is to promote deeper community partnerships within the NCAA conference footprint and demonstrate how much we value social impact and youth engagement. For the last two years, Arizona’s youth have been number one in the world for youth-led service projects, so when Ducey’s Youth Commission (GYC) heard about the “Weekend of Action” opportunity, they were the first to step up and get to work. GYC members wrote a service action plan for their community, had them approved by PLOC and are now gearing up to recruit others to join them in their “Weekend of Action” service projects in their respective counties.

The Feb 20-26 Winter Range is transforming the Ben Avery Shooting Facility into a festive scene from the Old West where more than 1,000 competitors from around the world will take part in the 26th annual Single Action Shooting Society’s national championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. Cowboy Action Shooting is one of the nation’s fastest-growing shooting sports and requires competitors to take their best shots with single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles and period shotguns. Competitors also must adopt a shooting alias suitable to a character or profession of the late 19th century, a Western movie star or an appropriate character from fiction -- names like “Mudflat Mike,” “Goldie Jade” and “May B. Shecann” -- and then dress in costume accordingly. Winter Range will feature period military, exhibitions of Western skills and crafts, a fast-draw competition, and vendors purveying period clothing, hats and wigs, antiques, reproductions and more. There also will be roaming balladeers, trick horses and a visit from Wyatt Earp, the great grand-nephew of his namesake, at noon Feb. 25.  A two-day mounted shooting event is expected to draw 100-plus competitors mounted on horses participating in their own arena Feb. 25-26. A variety of food services will be available, including chuck-wagon cooking, barbecue and ice cream. Admission is free (parking is $5). BASF is located on Carefree Highway, west of Interstate 17. CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

300 word limit policy. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited

Congressman Paul A. Gosar after Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) was confirmed by the Senate to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):“Today’s confirmation of Congressman Mulvaney as Budget Director marks a turning point in our nation’s ongoing spending crisis. For too long, Congress has ignored the dire threat that our $19 trillion debt poses not only to the American economy but also to our national defense. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, has warned that the national debt is the biggest threat to our national security. Leaders like Congressman Mulvaney understand this threat and were sent to Washington to fundamentally change the direction of this country—not to protect the status quo.  He understands that funding important aspects of our budget, such as providing for a strong military, can still be accomplished in a fiscally responsible way.  More importantly, Congressman Mulvaney has proven that he has the courage to take on anyone, including members of his own party, who would rather ignore the moral imperative of our spending crisis.”

Senator John McCain after meeting with Judge Neil Gorsuch, nominee to be Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court: “Today I had an excellent meeting with Judge Neil Gorsuch. Based on our conversation, and as demonstrated by his impressive legal record, it is clear that Judge Gorsuch has deep respect for the limited role of the federal judiciary and its obligation to uphold our Constitution. In addition to his strong credentials and experience, Judge Gorsuch would bring a valuable western perspective to the nation’s highest court as a Colorado native. Judge Gorsuch has my full support and I look forward to the Senate’s timely consideration of his nomination.”

COUNCILMEN SPEAK

300 word limit. If statements exceeds the limit, it will be edited.

Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: Phoenix City Council Votes 7-2 to Keep Sanctuary City Issue Alive, Will Have Secret Closed Door Meeting to Discuss Status- - "Last night the City Council played political games by voting to discuss the Sanctuary City issue behind closed doors in executive session. As I predicted, they also created an ad hoc committee to discuss this issue further. These moves are nothing but a ruse to confuse the public and give false hope that Phoenix may someday become a sanctuary city. This will never happen. Phoenix will never be a Sanctuary City like Chicago, San Francisco and New York. We had a chance to settle this issue once and for all last night, but instead City Council voted to keep the discussion away from the public and decided to have a secret closed door “E-Session” to discuss circumventing state law. None of this will change the basic facts: we have some of the toughest immigration enforcement laws in the country, and Phoenix is one of the toughest in the nation and will continue to be so. Once again when faced with a difficult issue, we saw politicians doing what they do best - protecting their own political careers. Forming committees and having closed door meetings is what politicians do when they want to punt an issue and create confusion and uncertainty, instead of taking a stand and delivering on their false promises. My prediction: This committee will not change the laws and we will NOT become a Sanctuary City. These same politicians may find some small nuggets to hand out, but I predict no real change will occur on the Sanctuary City status of Phoenix.” For more updates, click here and “Like” to follow my Facebook page.
