3-11-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net      Web Master John Strasser

AAARC Chairman Rev Clyde Bowen: The Arizona AMERICAN African Republican Committee congratulates, First Vice Chairman Dr CT Wright on being appointed Chairman of the Az Board of Executive Clemency. He has been on the board since 2014. In making the appointment, Gov Ducey thanked Dr Wright for his continuing service to the State of Arizona. Dr Wright is a member of the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board, Governor's Advisory Council on Aging, Az Criminal Justice Commission, Center for Political Thought & Leadership Board- ASU, Past President Fountain Hills Republican Club. The LD28 State Committeeman is the recipient of the Dr Martin Luther King and the President Abraham Lincoln Awards

Former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey: Chalk this up as one for the GOOD Guys!  They could not have picked a better person for this.

GOP Activist Matt Papke: Knock on doors to stop Civil Asset Forfeiture - Sat Mar 11, 1:30-4 PM -- Civil Forfeiture allows police to "legally" seize and sell any property they allege is involved in a crime, even if the owner is never arrested or convicted. In the last 5 years, AZ police seized over $200 million in personal property (azcentral.com). Right now, there is a bill in the AZ legislature that would protect innocent people from having their assets seized and force police to report details of what personal property they seized and what they did with it. This bill, HB2477, passed the AZ house unanimously with 100% bipartisan support. But it may never get a chance to become law because Judy Burges, the chair of the judiciary committee, has not scheduled it for a hearing. We are going to talk to Senator Burges's constituents tomorrow from 1:30-4 PM and encourage them to remind Senator Burges that as a "Friend of Liberty" she needs to schedule and support HB2477. Please join us at 1:30 P.M.  at the QT parking lot, NW corner of Deer Valley & 75th Ave. If you plan to attend please text or call Tracy at 480.529.1123 and we'll have materials for you. You can make the difference!

The AZGOP Has Opened its doors for the Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman Chris Herring to relocate within AZGOP headquarters in Phoenix, according to AZGOP Chairman Jonathan Lines. “Old-timers” remember when the AZGOP/MCRC shared headquarters – which was reportedly the gentleman’s agreement when Jack Londen turned the facility over to the Republican Party. Makes economical sense.

The AZGOP Executive Committee will meet at 10 am., today in Yuma. After adjournment, some of the group will stay for a BBQ and day at Chairman Jonathan Lines shooting range. Others will head for long drives home. Some folks weren’t real happy about having to drive four hours or so to get to the meeting, let alone drive the return trip home or an overnight stay at a local motel. Some would prefer that the meeting be held at AZGOP headquarters – more centrally located for everyone.

Nohl Rosen, Recall Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone organizer, can be reached at 480-980-8541 or catprotector@rallyforle.com. facebook.com/RecallPenzone2017/ A twitter page and a web site are also being planned. The Facebook page is currently the main place to get up to date info.
