Election of a Yuma County Republican Chairman is scheduled at the Tues., May 23 Yuma County Central Committee meeting. Potential candidates are reportedly Russ Jones, Connie and Russ Clark.

Auditor Says: (Former AZ Gov) Janet-Napolitano-Hid-Stash Of $175M at Berkeley; Home-Antifa-Protests … The University of California school system and the site of an ongoing free speech battle has another problem—corruption. In the battle over free speech, President Janet Napolitano has been criticized for not taking action to protect the university, free speech, and the First Amendment of the Constitution. Janet Napolitano has a bigger problem, though. A state audit found that the University of California—and in particular, Napolitano’s office of the president—hid a stash of $175 million in secret funds while its leaders requested more money from the state…

Russell Sias, La Paz County Chairman writes: I have been harping on our bylaws and our lack of adherence to them. Some of you have noticed, and have given me the following information. Feel free to correct me if you have different information. In the previous four years of the former state chairman; his first year, he had the three executive committee meetings as prescribed by the bylaws. In his second year, he had just two of these three required meetings. In his third year, he had but one meeting, and in 2016, he didn’t have any. This fits with the time I have been on the committee.

Further, it was reported that in the meeting when budget’s were presented, it was a slide show; flashed by so quickly, that few had the opportunity to understand what they were seeing, let alone review any data. This smacks of top down leadership, certainly not one of ...by the people. The pertinent bylaw: “The executive committee shall approve the annual budget and review and counsel the state chairman on all programs relating to the state party. The executive committee shall meet at least three times each year.”

Do we want to operate on Nancy Pelosi’s standard of ...if you want to know what is in it, vote for it to find out; or do we want to take the time to review and consider the budget before we rubber stamp it (like we did on 11 March)? Any of this concern you? See bylaws at Arizona_Republican_Party_Bylaws_Rev_2011_01_22.pdf. Read them! If you are part of the bylaws committee as I am, let’s actually discuss our bylaws. Together, we can work to fix this foppery. Contact: russellsias@gmail.com.

Activist Randy Miller: I grew up with the understanding that Chauvinism was limited to basically being "Sexists" in ones belief.  Saying stupid things like "Women should be at home" would be an example.  I never bothered to look it up and see what was included in the term until I was asked by Tatiana what it meant.  (She is trying to understand our terms since Russian is her primary language.)  So I looked it up.  http://www.dictionary.com/browse/chauvinism Much to my surprise, I see that each of you, myself included are "Chauvinistic".   I would appreciate your comments on this.  Has this always been part of the definition? Or is this a recent addition as part of the Liberal Left's attempt at labeling patriots in their war on sovereignty and patriotism?  If so, then we should see name calling to include "Anti chauvinists".

The Colorado River Tea Party will host an appreciation rally - in celebration of President Donald Trumps “Make America Great Again” successes - between noon and 3 pm., Sat., June 24 in Ramada #28 in Joe Henry Memorial Park (near the children’s playaground on the NE side of the park.) They will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers and bottled water. Local officials and conservative state legislators are invited. Chairman Sally Kizer coloradoriverteaparty@yahoo.com 928-210-1219.

The Central Arizona Republican Women will meet with LD28 Sen Kate Brophy McGee at 6:15 pm., May 4 at the Phoenix Hilton Suites, 10 E Thomas in Phoenix. McGee will discuss the legislative session. The agenda includes election of a nomination committee for next year’s officers, and election of delegates to the AZ Federation of Republican Women’s Convention. $30 per person, includes dinner. RSVP Jan at 602-318-1010 by April 30.

Pima County Republicans held a “Sales Tax? Vote NO” sign posting party yesterday morning at the new headquarters at 1740 E Ft. Lowell Road #140 in Tucson. HQ is now located on the SW corner of the shopping center at Ft Lowell/Campbell – next door to Rosa’s Mexican Food, according to LD9 Chairman Brad Johns.

Arizona Dems Going After Flake: Alexis Tameron, Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party statement: “Jeff Flake’s refusal to forcefully condemn the revised Republican healthcare bill, which allows states to opt out of covering pre-existing conditions while protecting such coverage for members of Congress, demonstrates Flake’s inability to stand up for Arizonans when it truly matters. From tacitly supporting previous versions of the bill, to endorsing cuts to Medicaid, Flake has been on the wrong side of this issue from the beginning. Unless he condemns this bill, voters will remember his tacit support when they head to the polls in 2018.”

Candidates Are Being Sought for the 2018-2020 Arizona Federation of Republican Women Executive Committee before May 1. The two-year term positions include President; First Vice-President (programs), Second Vice-President (membership), Third Vice President (fundraising), Recording Secretary, Treasurer and Region Directors 1-8. See AzFRW Officer Application 2017

Maricopa County Board of Supervisor Bill Gates will hold an “Open Conservation” a between noon and 2 pm., Tues., May 16 for New River/Desert Hills/Anthem area constituents at the Daisy Mountain Fire Department, 43814 N. New River Road, New River, AZ 85087.

Arizona Citizens Defense League President Dave Kopp: We would not be able to defend our rights at the legislature without your help. Nearly everything Arizona Citizens Defense League does is funded with your support. For that, we thank you. Since our last update, Governor Ducey has signed 3 of our supported pro-rights bills into law. The bills are as follows:

HB 2216 Signed 04/18/17 Prevents the mandate of “smart gun” technology in firearms.

HB 2477 Signed 04/12/17 Reforms civil asset forfeiture laws.

SB 1344 Signed 04/12/17 Removes the authority of political subdivisions to regulate firearms possession of their employees or independent contractors while they're in or on their own property or vehicles.

It looks as if this session is beginning to wind down, but there are a few pro-rights bills awaiting further meetings that need your help. Click here to pledge your continued support of the fight for our rights.

Arizona Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas has kicked off the Phoenix launch of the Zip Code Project, a program at the Arizona Department of Education that assists disconnected youth. “It is impossible for our education system to prepare students to be successful citizens if they are not attending school,” Douglas said. “Our mission with the Zip Code Project is to help these young adults get back on track to a fulfilling, happy and productive life. Our job is to give them every opportunity to get a first-class education, as well as a chance to pursue their hopes and dreams.” The event was hosted in the South Phoenix at South Mountain High School, which along with Maryvale, are the two communities that were launched in the Phoenix area. Chinle and Ajo are the other two zip codes that have integrated the program into their communities. Starting from the ground floor in 2015 with limited funding, Zip Code Manager Christopher Dickinson has collaborated and partnered with local clergy, community organizations, cities, neighborhoods, parole and probation officers, alternative high schools, as well as education and business leaders to assist these youth. “The Zip Code Project leverages public-private partnerships to identify and implement solutions and resources to prevent to assist with dropout prevention and support alternative paths to success,” Dickinson said. “This is not an easy issue to combat, but I am grateful to all of the communities for their continuous support and dedication. I look forward to even further expansion of this program to more zip codes throughout the state in the near future.” www.azed.gov/

Arizona Town Crier Jim Ehl: In regard to Navajo County Republican Committee Chairman Steven Slaton’s e-mail to GOP County Chairmen asking for support of potential request by the AZGOP Executive Committee for a forensic audit of the former AZGOP Executive Committee - which has drawn both support and fire from fellow county chairmen. 4-24-17-Briefs This clearly shows that even some of the county chairmen cannot work as a team.  Here we see where one chair simply  ask for support and another chair wanting to act as a BMOC (Big man of the campus)  In addition to that we continue and read some comments from another County Chairman, Chairman Russell Sias of La Paz county.  Here we have a County Chairman who has the backbone to point out the duties and failure of the state Executive Committee and nothing done about it!!    Required meeting of the Executive committee????  AZ GOP budget???  Finance committee???  Treasurer's accountability???  Bylaws????  If you are a state committeeman you should know the bylaws by heart!  County chairmen??  County chairmen??  The Arizona Town Crier emailed ever county chair and asked if they received the Arizona Town Crier emails.   Only 6 had the courtesy to respond!!  What does that tell one about the leadership in AZ GOP??? Readers!!!  Doesn’t any of this concern you?   Oh, there is the old saying, ‘If it doesn’t affect your pay or liberty, don’t sweat it!”  But it does concern you!  As members of the Republican Party you have a moral obligation to stand up for the Republican principles and voice of WE THE PEOPLE against the AZ GOP inside establishment.  Review ARC title 16.  How many laws have been broken and who has done what about it??

The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission met last week in Phoenix. The Commissioners are Chairman Colleen Coyle Mathis, Vice chair Scott Day, and commissioners Cid R Kallen, Linda C McNulty and Richard P. Stertz.

Activist Stephen Sivigliano: Is it just a random coincidence that we are witnessing all the violence, and threats of violence all over the country, not just at college campuses?  I find it inconceivable that these are just random events.  They are planned, paid for, and staged by someone the media refuses to even speculate on, because they are complicit.  Is it Soros, the Clintons, the Obamas, the Russians, Hollywood, or the media itself.  Rush has proclaimed the dimmycrats are now being controlled by the media, not the reverse.  What is the ultimate agenda of whomever it is whose running this evil show...  anarchy, the toppling of our government, therefore, our country and all our freedoms?  Is it the Muslim world doing it?  The answer, my friends, is not blowing in the wind.  It's out there somewhere. If someone doesn't find him/her or them soon, we will be in big, deep doo doo.  No, I'm not saying the sky is falling, just that something very evil is happening.  Can the Donald save us, or do we need more than that to stop the coming catastrophe.  So much for this rant.

4-29-17 Briefs

A Quick Note: We are currently dealing with a few computer gremlins (almost as annoying as the liberals). Please bear with us as we clean them out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Arrowhead Republican Women’s Victory Celebration Picnic is scheduled between noon and 4 pm., Sat, April 29 at Beardsley Park, 20011 N. 128th Ave., Sun City West. Tickets available at the event for $10 which includes a meal of sloppy joe’s, potato salad, coleslaw, cookie, and water or soda. No advance reservation needed. Ticket includes a door prize opportunity for golfing at Briarwood Country Club. Raffle baskets available for an additional ticket price. Political speakers and voter registration available.

Friends of David Gonzales, Arizona’s current US Marshall for the Federal District, were quick to point out that Gonzales was a former President George W. Bush appointee – not a two-time Barack Obama appointee – as stated in a sample letter posted 4-28-17-briefs regarding former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey’s bid for the US Marshall position. Gonzales said his association with former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano is through his wife – who had worked with Napolitano in the same law firm. “I’m a life-long Republican – not a big D as implied,” Gonzales commented.

Gonzales has submitted his resume for re-appointment under President Donald Trump/ USAZ Jeff Sessions. He was nominated by G.W. Bush in 2002 and confirmed by the US Senate - at the request of Sens Jon Kyl and John McCain. He was reappointed by Obama at the request of Arizona’s Senators, the entire Arizona Democratic Congressional delegation, Arizona Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, Arizona Federal Judiciary and numerous community organizations. He was one of four Republicans appointed by Bush (out of 94 appointees) to be retained by Obama. Under his watch, the District of Arizona has received the “Large District of the Year” Award four (4) times. A record no other District in the Marshals Service has achieved. He implemented a Mexican Investigation Liaison Unit on the Mexican border and manages the largest contract in the US Marshals Service with a private prison company – processing over 84,000 prisoners for court appearances in federal courthouses in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma and Flagstaff. He began his law enforcement career as a Coconino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy in 1973 – at age 19, he was the youngest commissioned police officer in the US. At age 21, he became a trooper with the Arizona Dept of Public Safety in Tucson. He has worked undercover narcotics, conducted agency audits, managed detectives conducting organized crime, conspiracy and money laundering investigations. He developed the first full-time statewide gang task force in the nation and was selected as a FBI Executive Fellow. Gonzales and his wife Nancy have two grown children – one is a special federal agent.

LD24 PC Tristan Manos: A big and grateful "Thank You" to LD24 Chairman Barry Wong and LD24 Corresponding Secretary Carole Joyce for emailing LD24 PCs the MCRC EGC Monthly Meeting Agenda for the upcoming EGC meeting (Tuesday, May 2nd, 7pm, AZGOP HQ). Also, thanks to the MCRC Executive Committee for getting the EGC meeting agendas out so soon. In good faith, I'd like to think all MCRC LD Chairmen are also -- or, will be, as soon as possible -- emailing the MCRC EGC monthly meeting agendas and minutes to their PCs (in a timely manner), seeing the potential win-win-win for the good of being proactive and transparent, providing "We The PCs" important MCRC information, plans, activities, and opportunities for PCs to help make the MCRC the best it can be, promoting the Republican Party Platform and serving and representing Republicans throughout Maricopa County and beyond.

Supt of Public Instruction candidate Frank Riggs and Mission Restore Bronze’s Thomas Pawlak will be featured on the 4 pm., Sat., “Chips N Salsa Show” with talk show hosts Alice Lara & George Ortiz. Contact alice@ChipsNSalsaShow.com.

President Donald Trump supporters are invited to join the Mobilization of Conservatives (MOC) between 1-2 pm., Tues., May 2 at 122 N Cortez St. (Bulleri Bldg) for a counter demonstration to “Prescott Resistance Tuesdays” – the Anti Trump and Anti America movement. Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio was among the guests at last night’s Ahwatukee Republican Women & Legislative District 18 GOP Beer, Wine & Soda BBQ Fundraiser.

AZGOP Treasurer Robert Lettieri: Responding to Briefs question as to whether the AZGOP is currently under a Forensic Audit - “The AZGOP is not under a Forensic Audit. The AZGOP is in compliance with all required monthly and quarterly financial reports required by the FEC and State of Arizona. We plan on engaging and Independent CPA firm to conduct an audit for the fiscal year ended 2016.” Editor’s Note: Briefs asked Lettieri about the “Forensic Audit” in an effort to clarify some of misinformation that is floating around. –ft 4-28-17-briefs,

An Eagle-Eyed Reader wants to know if the AZGOP isn’t under a current Forensic Audit 4-28-17-briefs, what/where are the results of the 2014 Forensic Audit? In case you are wondering, a “forensic audit” means every scrap of records is reportedly examined.

Former AZGOP Executive Director Avinash Iragavarapu and his wife are the proud parents of a baby girl. Scuttlebutt has it that Iragavarapu has decided to stay in the US and start a business instead of moving to Hong Kong – as was previously rumored.

There Seems To Be A Lot Of Shuffling in the process of AZGOP administrative turn over. Folks in the know say that Tim Seifert, former chairman Robert Graham’s right hand man, will soon be moving on to other things.

A Reader, who remembers former AZGOP administrator Thayer Verschoor hopping on his moped to pick up chicken for lunch, wonders if Verschoor took his moped to DC when he signed on with the current administration.

Ben Wick will soon be providing the Arizona Project with lessons on the Nation’s President.

The Arizona Project will continue with video discussions from Hillsdale College and Prager University, according to Chr Ron Ludders. Topics will include racism, Islamic extremists and Sharia law at 6:30 pm., Mon., May 1 at 3375 E Shea Blvd in Phoenix. – Ludders 602.677.1496

Here we have a County Chairman who has the backbone to point out the duties and failure of the state Executive Committee and nothing done about it! Required meeting of the Executive committee?  AZ GOP budget?  Finance committee?  Treasurer's accountability?  Bylaws?  If you are a state committeeman you should know the bylaws by heart!  County chairmen?  The Arizona Town Crier emailed ever county chair and asked if they received the Crier’s emails.   Only 6 had the courtesy to respond! What does that tell one about the leadership in AZ GOP? Readers!

Gov Doug Ducey has appointed four new members of the State Board of Education. The appointees are Luke Narducci, an environmental and natural resources law attorney at Snell and Wilmer; Patricia Welborn, chairman of the Empower College Prep board of directors and serves on the Arizona Charter School Assn board; Michele Kaye, CEO of the Leona Group, a charter school operator; and Daniel Corr, Arizona Western College president. They must be confirmed by the Senate Education Committee, along with appointees Calvin Baker and Janice Mak. Ducey has appointed every member of the 11 person board, except for Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas – who was elected.

Arizona Project Chr Ron Ludders: President Trump's 100 day report card is very impressive.  Imagine what it would be if Speaker Paul Ryan and numerous renegade Republicans would have gotten behind the various issues Trump verbalized during the election.  Healthcare repeal and replacement, immigration, border wall and the original way of looking at our beloved Constitution was the keystone of our 45th President's campaign.  Republicans just cannot ignore the age old urge to self-destruction.  Trump will overcome this nonsense because he is a leader and that's what leaders do.  As Conservatives, we must do all we can to pull together the wayward souls and cement of solid majority to continue our personal freedoms and glory years. At home, here in Arizona, we must do the same, forgiving of each other’s frailties, set a solid goal of keeping Arizona Red and work open-mindedly with each other to secure lofty objectives.  And no, that does not mean to sacrifice ones values, but rather to envision a larger picture of political objectives. As an accountant, there are only two ways to increase our numbers and influence.  That's through addition and multiplication.  Destruction and failure will be our demise if we divide and subtract. Unity must be our goal.  That goes for those in our highest elected offices to all our grassroots patriots.

The Arizona Game and Fish Depart is assessing potential impacts to Arizona’s endangered and threatened wildlife recovery program, following a 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that lifts a preliminary injunction on releasing Mexican wolves  in New Mexico. The court decision issued Tuesday held that the State of New Mexico had not met the legal standard for a preliminary injunction because it did not demonstrate that releasing Mexican wolves without state permits will cause irreparable injury to the state. The ruling reverses a U.S. District Court decision last summer that prohibited the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from importing or releasing any Mexican wolves in New Mexico without first obtaining permits from the New Mexico Game and Fish Department. “The Arizona Game and Fish Commission and Department are evaluating the potential ramifications of the Appellate Court’s decision for Arizona’s wolf recovery program,” said Jim deVos, AZGFD assistant director for Wildlife Management. “Our agency remains committed to working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and our other partners to ensure Arizona has a voice in providing direction for the program, based on sound science and boots-on-the-ground research.” The case now returns to U.S. District Court for a decision on whether New Mexico can require the USFWS to obtain state permits before releasing wolves. There were a minimum of 113 wolves in the wild in Arizona and New Mexico in 2016, according to a recent survey by the Mexican Wolf Interagency Field Team. The survey found that there were 63 wolves in Arizona and 50 in New Mexico. In 2015, there were an estimated 97 wolves were counted in the wild between both states.

The Latest Voter Registration Figures have been released and according to Secretary of State Michele Reagan, the number of registered voters is 3,636,504, a decrease of 9,618 since the last report in January. “Our counties do a great job to ensure the integrity of our voter registration lists is current and up-to-date,” said Reagan.  “This decrease in enrollment is a common result after each election cycle.” Of the state's 3.6 million voters, 1,259,406 are Republicans, 1,102,169 are Democrats and 1,235,911 have not designated an officially recognized party preference.  Libertarians and members of the Green party make up a little less than one percent of the state’s total registration. The latest voter registration figures compiled by county, congressional district and legislative district are available on http://go.azsos.gov/c6ds or by calling 1-877-THE-VOTE.

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

300 word limit. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited

Congressman David Scheiwkert:   I am writing to share two recent media appearances as well as an op-ed I penned with my good friend and fellow conservative Adam Brandon, CEO of FreedomWorks. As I work to repeal Obamacare, fix our broken healthcare system, and bring a revolution to the tax code that creates jobs and economic growth, I continue to hear from stakeholders in our community like you. Arizona is front-and-center to our national priorities. The lost decade of Barack Obama's presidency, with a backwards agenda and runaway government is over. The time to govern is now. Please know how committed I am fighting for you! See Its-Time-For-Tax-Reform-Here-Are-Six-Principles-For-Success Watch Rep-Schweikert-Optimistic-Says-Slowdown-Won-T-Happen

Congressman Paul Gosar after the House Committee on Natural Resources unanimously passed legislation sponsored by the Congressman, H.R. 660 the Bureau of Reclamation Transparency Act, during a legislative markup: “In the first 100 days of the Trump Administration, the president has made it clear that business as usual in Washington D.C. is over. No longer will the American people tolerate bloated government agencies that spend us into oblivion while dodging its moral responsibility to provide transparency. Time and time again, history has shown us that this lack of oversight has proven to be a recipe for rampant waste, fraud and abuse. Agencies, like BOR, wield an enormous amount of influence in managing the most important resource for Western states: water. Americans have a right to know if this agency is effectively utilizing our tax dollars in the most efficient way. My bipartisan bill will require a cost estimate and a detailed list of major repairs for BOR facilities and allow for meaningful steps to be taken to address the maintenance backlog. This transparency will ensure an abundant supply of clean water and power for future generations.” Full text of the Bureau of Reclamation Transparency Act HERE.

Congressman Andy Biggs: “This week’s ruling by a federal judge in San Francisco proves yet again that President Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda is under assault by liberal, activist judges, who put their politics above national security interests. Many cities are in open contempt of U.S. law by refusing to cooperate with immigration enforcement laws. The safety and security of their citizens depend on those cities adhering to existing federal law, which is what President Trump’s executive order sought to accomplish. It is no surprise that this week's ruling originated within the boundaries of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals – another example of ‘judicial shopping’ meant to undermine President Trump’s policies. Though I respect the balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, there is a clear attempt to wreak havoc on the President’s responsibility and efforts to protect Americans by concentrating these cases in specific jurisdictions. I firmly believe that both of President Trump’s executive orders on immigration vetting and sanctuary cities were rooted in a sincere desire to prioritize American security, based on historical precedent, and within his constitutional authority to execute. Moreover, these judicial antics continue to highlight the need for a new Twelfth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Ninth Circuit Court is overburdened, far too often overturned, and does not reflect the values nor laws of states within its jurisdiction. I continue to fight for my legislation, H.R. 250, to split the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and I support President Trump’s efforts to contest this recent decision in federal court.”

4-28-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs
Editor Frosty Taylor  repcomm@cox.net          Web Master John Strasser

A Campaign Has Been Launched To Get Former Chief Deputy US Marshal Tom Morrissey appointed as the US Marshall for the Federal District of Arizona. Morrissey served over 20 years in the US Marshals Service before retiring.  Supporters are asked to send letter or e-mails to the Arizona Congressional delegation (list can be found just above the calendar section)) and US Attorney General Jeff Sessions showing support for Morrissey. During Morrissey’s term as the Chief Deputy US Marshall, the Arizona district was twice recognized as the best performing and managed large district in the country. Morrissey has also served as Inspector General and Chief of the Office of Special Investigations during his 11 years with The Arizona Dept of Economic Security. Morrissey served two years as the AZ Republican Party chairman, five years as a GOP district chairman.  He holds a BA in Law Enforcement Administration ( graduated cum laude) from Ottawa University, has full certification as a Public Manager from Arizona State University (graduate studies), was chairman of the Arizona Veterans for the Donald Trump campaign, volunteered for the Trump campaign in Nevada  during the Presidential Caucus, and drove in very Trump/ Pence campaign motorcade in Arizona. Here is a sample you might use as a ‘starter’ idea.
Envelope:
                    The Honorable Jeff Sessions
Attorney General of the United States

U.S. Department of Justice
                              950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
                             Washington, DC 20530-0001
Letter salutation:
           Dear Mr. Attorney General:
I write to share information that is important to Arizona and the Nation.
The current appointee holding the position of US marshal for the Federal District of Arizona is a two-time Obama appointee, and a close friend of the past Governor of Arizona Janet Napolitano (no friend of Republicans).
I am pleased to recommend Mr. Thomas Morrissey, a past Chief Deputy US marshal for this district having served over twenty years in the US Marshals Service, to fill this position.
Mr. Morrissey’s past service as Chief Deputy and his other activities here in Arizona shows his willingness to serve in many capacities.  I can think of no one with the experience giving one the ability to hit the ground running in understanding and fulfilling this position than Mr. Morrissey, and I urge you to take a good hard look at his qualifications for this position. Thank you
Your name, address, email and phone number.

AZGOP Treasurer Robert Littieri: Responding to Briefs question as to whether the AZGOP is currently under a Forensic Audit -  “The AZGOP is not  under a Forensic Audit. The AZGOP is in compliance with all required monthly and quarterly financial reports required by the FEC and State of Arizona. We plan on engaging and Independent CPA firm to conduct an audit for the fiscal year ended 2016.”  Editor’s Note: Briefs asked Littieri about the “Forensic Audit” in an effort to clarify some of misinformation that is floating around. –ft
Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Clint Hickman (Tues evening): Tomorrow I will be submitting a name to my colleagues on the Maricopa County
Board of Supervisors that I feel best represents the citizens of Legislative District 22. I would like to commend LD22 Chairwoman Rae Chornenky for pulling together a quick election, and sending three highly capable representatives for their District. I was extremely impressed once again how engaged LD22 Precinct Committeemen remain, even in off election years. Rae was able to fill the room and meet her quorum without having to rely on proxy voting. Congratulations to all of the PC's for attending a great meeting, voting for their favorite candidates, and sending them to my Board, giving us enough time to gather information about the candidates as well as vet their backgrounds. Thank you Frank Carroll, John Heep and Ben Toma for being willing to serve LD22.

Congrats to LD22 PC Ben Toma was appointed to fill the House vacancy by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Wednesday morning. Toma replaces former LD22 Rep Phil Lovas who has taken a position with the Trump Team Administration in  Arizona.
Former LD13 Chairman Robert Branch: Republican House and Senate – You are liars and cowards! For years, you told us, the grassroots that you wanted tax reform, a flat tax or a 15% corporate tax, but now you have president that wants tax reform, and you say no. For years, you told us, the grassroots, that you wanted boarder security, and now you have a president that ran on “Build the wall” but now you say no! You are the swamp, Drain the Swamp! Get on board or get defeated!  You are the swamp. Drain the swamp.  Get on board or get defeated.
LD 22 Chair Rae Chornenky: Congratulations, Ben Toma!!! It is with great pleasure that Legislative District 22 announces that Ben Toma, of Peoria, has been selected by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives occasioned by the recent resignation of Phil Lovas.

Former AZ Gov Janet Napolitano hides $175M: The University of California hid a stash of $175 million in secret funds while its leaders requested more money from the state, an audit released on Tuesday said. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the audit found that the secret fund ballooned due to UC Office of the President overestimating how much is needed to run the school system that includes 10 campuses in the state. Janet Napolitano, the former Department of Homeland Security chief, is in charge of the school system.  napolitanos-uc-hid-$175-million-while-demanding-money-audit-says.

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

Congressman Andy Biggs: "I promised my constituents that I would fight for a clean repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As amended, the American Health Care Act (AHCA) would not be the clean repeal of Obamacare I promised and would not lower premiums to pre-ACA levels. It would also require states to petition the federal government for a temporary waiver from some Obamacare mandates. Furthermore, the disastrous ACA framework would stay in place. This version does not change the three-phase repeal process that originally gave apprehension about the totality of Obamacare repeal. Additionally, this bill will likely not receive a CBO score before a vote.I am currently working on further reforms to the AHCA that could alleviate some of my concerns. The MacArthur amendment is an effort to make the AHCA better, but it does not meet my constituents’ threshold for repeal. I am committed to working with my colleagues to address my concerns leading up to the final House vote, and I stand ready to keep my promise to repeal Obamacare."

Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake have introduced a bill to increase transparency and accountability inside a federal power agency that’s facing concerns over its financial practices. The bill announced Tuesday would require the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) to create a public website containing detailed information about customer rates and agency expenses…‘For years, Arizona consumers have been paying the price for rampant waste, fraud and abuse at WAPA in the form of high energy bills, ’said Sen. McCain in a prepared statement. ‘Our legislation would provide Arizona customers with full transparency of how their tax dollars are being spent so we can hold this troubled agency accountable and rein in WAPA's unnecessary and excessive spending.’”ABC 15,

US Senate Candidate Dr Kelli Ward: Did you hear what happened this week? An activist judge in California has blocked President Trump's proposal to deny funding to sanctuary cities. Right now, cities throughout the country are purposely ignoring federal immigration laws, effectively allowing illegal immigrants to freely live in the city and putting potentially dangerous criminals above the law. My opponent, Jeff Flake, was one of only three Republicans who voted for this activist judge. We must not let this continue. These liberals are sacrificing the safety of Americans just to push their agenda. It's time to make America safe again—it's time to build the wall. Building the wall will not only keep our country safer, but it will also send a clear message that we will not stand for dangerous immigration policies anymore. If you agree that building the wall should be one of our country's top priority, please add your name to the petition! Let's send a huge message to the liberal machine that we will not stand for their ridiculous immigration stance any longer!  With your support, we will show my opponent that we mean business and that the time for weak policy is over—because it's time to make America great again! info@kelliward.com
