5-16-17 Briefs

Secretary-Tillerson-On-John-McCain: Smackdown-Like-A-Giant-Hand-Swatting-A-Pesky-Fruit-Fly McCain tried to shame the secretary in a recent New York Times opinion piece, suggesting Tillerson was killing off our overseas allies, one oppression policy at a time. And like a giant hand swatting a pesky fruit fly, Tillerson shot back: “You don’t know what you’re talking about, John.”

Conservative Steve Smith has announced his candidacy for Congress in Arizona’s 1st Congressional district.  Smith currently represents a significant portion of the Congressional district. “The voters of the 1st Congressional district deserve strong leadership in Congress. Leadership that will fight for more jobs, more prosperity, and real economic growth.  As a state senator, I’ve fought tirelessly for these principles in the Arizona Legislature and I will do the same in Congress,” Smith said. Smith has represented Arizona’s 11th Legislative District in both the House of Representatives and the State Senate where he has consistently been recognized as one the leading conservatives.  In the Legislature, Smith has repeatedly been awarded Pro-Taxpayer and Pro-Family awards, including “Champion of the Taxpayer” and “Guardian of Small Business”.  He has led the fight to secure Arizona’s southern border, cut regulations and waste, fought for increased school funding and education reform, and helped position Arizona to be a national leader in job creation. Smith made political history in 2010 when he defeated an incumbent Democrat whose family had held that Senate seat for nearly 30 years.  He was the first Republican Senator to represent that district in nearly 100 years.  He has easily won re-election since then thanks to his commitment to his constituents and his record of keeping his promises.  Smith indicated that he planned on finishing his term in the legislature. He and his wife Jamie have been five children.  They live in the city of Maricopa in Pinal County and attend the Church of Celebration. National Association of Former Patrol Officers Chairman Zack Taylor: The government solution to heroin and fentanyl overdose is subject to interpretation and a cloud of disinformation. Wasn't it Rham Emanuel who said, "never let a crisis go to waste?" I think that the dramatic uptick in heroin and fentanyl overdose deaths began to rise in about 2009 and may not have peaked as of 2016.  Many jurisdictions are unable to test for fentanyl so we don’t how many deaths have gone undetected?

Politicians have dubbed this an opioid crisis and began sanctioning pharmacies and physicians which is curious when they admit that heroin and fentanyl are not available from pharmacies or physicians.  Like climate change, the narrative becomes accepted that we are addressing the opioid overdose crisis.  However, VA receiveds nearly $10M to fight opioid epidemic points out, that it's heroin and fentanyl doing the killing and China has been approached about cutting off the flow of fentanyl.  Yes, heroin and fentanyl availability on the streets of the United States is a transnational crime problem not a prescription drug problem.  Why then is it being treated as a prescription drug problem?

How can government appear to do something about heroin and fentanyl overdosing which is obviously a transnational crime issue.  If the solution involves bringing $9.7 million into the community to address the 'crisis' the politician have done something to combat the crisis – that they allowed to happen and everyone is able to feel good about doing something. Is this is why the War on Drugs was a failure?  Some gifted grant writer will ensure the cash cow continues along with narrative which is more or less how we arrived where we are today.

Until the profit incentive and product to market capability is taken out of the transnational criminal enterprise nothing changes except an upward trend in heroin and fentanyl deaths.  Overdose deaths will continue to increase as communities are drugged with cash to continue deflecting attention away from the transnational criminal enterprise that provides the drugs that are killing our fellow citizens.
