5-24-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Former Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman Lyle Tuttle: When a person decides to serve their neighbors as a precinct committeeman, certain things are taken as understood.  For example, a small part of that person's life enters the public domain.  They become an "Official of the Republican Party" -  (or whatever Party they choose to assist).  As such, they have a RESPONSIBILITY to make themselves available to the public.  Their basic information (name, address, party affiliation) is now public information and available to anyone from their county elections department.  It has been this way for as long as I can recall.  However, time marches on, and now we have modern things like telephones and email - both much faster and less expensive than "snail mail".  If you do not want the emails and phone calls, you have no business being a precinct committeeman - you can't FULLY do the job.  For those who are worried about those 'extra telephone calls', I ask you to consider them again - my experience shows me that those are from people who want to share ideas and/or information relevant to the Party.  As for emails, it is very easy and simple to create a new FREE and different email address to share with "THE PUBLIC".  Use that email address for politics and set your email software to automatically "sort" all emails to that address into a different 'mailbox' on your computer that holds only those emails sent to that address.  That keeps your personal, private email address out of sight. Bottom line:  If you choose to be an active member supporting your chosen political party, SHARE THIS INFORMATION!  To do otherwise is like driving your car down the freeway with all of the other drivers wearing blindfolds: You can see them but they can't see you -- a sure-fire recipe for failure!

Activist Ken Mazikowski: Come On you Arizonans who live in Maricopa County.  Get involved and volunteer for the Citizen Boards.  Talk with your friends who are Independents and Republicans and get them to get involved in the election process.  The more people that get involved can keep America on Course to be the America we grew up in instead of the Left Wing Idiots who are trying to destroy the Country we all Love.  There are four ways you can assist in keep on Keel listed in the ad that the new Maricopa County Recorder put together on the RSVP link shown below.  Remember, Mr. Fontes is a Democrat and the more people he can recruit and the better chance of the Dems getting to more elected offices in the coming election. Let's make this Country Great Again.  Click on that RSVP link get-involved-orientation-session-tickets and sign up.

The Arizona Freedom Alliance is well acquainted with Mr. Bill Heuisler.  We ran a report on him and you can see some of the true information on this man here http://arizonafreedomalliance.ning.com/group/watching-the-elections/forum/topics/to-the-tea-party-memebers-and-conservatives-across-the-state-of-a here   and here: http://arizonafreedomalliance.ning.com/group/watching-the-elections/forum/topics/us-senate-race-let-s-put-one-thing-to-rest and other places on AFA. We researched everything he ever posted in the very short time he was a member (we were forced to suspend his membership due to breaking every policy AFA has).  While he has McCain's number just like most active people, he made up false stories to try to ruin a respectable candidate in order to help his preferred candidate.  While there is nothing illegal about that, it is surely despicable.  There is something very wrong about his statements that contain only accidental facts and very few of those. Based on our research, we support the comments made by both Clair Van Steenwyk 5-22-17-briefs and Alex Meluskey 5-22-17-briefs

CONGRESSIONAL STATEMENTS/ACTION

(300 word limit. If statements exceed the limit, it will be edited)

Congressman Andy Biggs: Yesterday, President Donald Trump’s submitted his fiscal year 2018 budget request to the U.S. Congress. Biggs released the following statement: “The United States has almost $20 trillion in national debt, $100-200 trillion in future obligations, and deficit spending of about $500 billion a year. Experts forecast that Social Security and Medicare will be insolvent in mere decades. Our grandchildren will be left with an unpayable debt. Year after year, the previous administration failed to protect Americans by allowing the U.S. military to deteriorate and failing to protect our border. This apathy to our country’s financial solvency and security needed a drastic change. I am pleased to see that there are proposed reductions in spending in President Trump’s FY 18 budget. The proposed budget spurs economic growth and shrinks the federal government—leaving fewer nameless, faceless bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., who produce regulations that hurt our economy, kill jobs, and take away our freedoms. Specifically, I am encouraged to see President Trump’s inclusion of $2.6 billion for Customs and Border Protection. We must not make any more excuses for our failure to keep our commitments to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws. I look forward to working with the administration to reduce the size of government, eliminate wasteful spending, and restore power back to the states and individuals in America.”

Congresswoman Martha McSally will hold a telephone town hall with AZ-02 residents at 5:30 pm., Wed., May 24. Participant Dial-in Phone Number: (877) 229-8493 PIN: 114341. McSally regularly holds tele-town halls to communicate with constituents while she is in Washington, D.C. Since taking office, she has held over 30 town hall type events throughout Southern Arizona at various work places, non-profits, government offices, and senior centers.

Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Paul A. Gosar reaction to the White House Budget that was released yesterday: “While no budget is perfect, I am pleased to see a serious proposal from the White House to tackle our country’s spending crisis and put us on sustainable path toward economic growth,” said Gosar. “Unlike the pipe-dream proposals put forth by the Obama Administration, this budget is grounded in sound policy and fiscal responsibility. Kudos to the Trump Administration for reducing bureaucratic blight within the EPA, supporting a true all-of-the-above energy

Congresswoman Martha McSally yesterday led a hearing as Chairwoman of the Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee Committee to evaluate visa overstays and the impact on national security. As reported Monday in USA Today, the Department of Homeland Security released a report revealing that nearly 740,000 people overstayed their visa at some point in 2016, and close to 630,000 of them were still in the country at the end of last year. That’s twice as many overstays as people apprehended at the land border. “With this year’s number of border apprehensions at record lows, visa overstays are a much, much bigger problem than it has been historically. We have to keep the DHS focused on both problem sets – illicit traffic that crosses the land border and the growing problem of visa overstays,” said McSally in her opening statement. “Visa overstays have historically been the primary means for terrorist entry into the United States, and we must place greater emphasis on the visa process as a counterterrorism tool.” During the hearing, McSally highlighted the role that penalties play in deterring visa overstays. She questioned John Wagner, Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection about the discrepancy between penalties for illegally crossing the border after deportation— a felony, versus overstaying a visa which results in bars for admission to the country for a set amount of time. McSally also questioned what resources would be necessary to implement the federally mandated biometrically-based entry-exit system—a method of tracking the arrival and exit of foreign visitors, which was a recommendation of the 9/11 Commission.
