6-24-17 Briefs

Republican Briefs

LaPaz County First Vice Chairman Jennifer Jones-Esposito: I attended the AZGOP Executive Committee meeting in Flagstaff on Saturday (6-17-17) and it was very exciting. The minutes from the last meeting were amended by majority vote to say something like the budget was approved, even though it technically had not been, according to those that had been there. One lady made a motion to make available the names and contact information of those on the Executive Committee and Bylaws Committee, which seemed like a good idea, so I seconded but the motion was ruled against by the parliamentarian. Another man made a motion that the records purportedly being denied to the current AZGOP Secretary be turned over by the end of the month, which seemed reasonable, so I seconded that one as well but it lost by a voice vote. Then, I wanted to observe the Bylaws Committee meeting and record it for La Paz County Chairman Russell Sias, who is on that Committee but could not attend, and some pushy little woman tried to force me to stop recording by grabbing my hand and my camera. I asked by what authority members of the Executive Committee could be barred from observing, and where I could see that in writing, but about a half dozen of us would be observers were ordered out of the room despite no rule or bylaw being cited and the meeting was held behind closed doors. Yes, there's video! Editor’s Note: As soon as Jones-Esposito’s video is posted, Briefs will post the link to it. -ft

Zack Taylor, Chairman and Border Security Expert , National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers (cc Donald J Trump). It is time to pass Davis Oliver by a Floor Vote in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate and send it to President Trump to be signed into law, ASAP. We are the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers and we have millenia of years of experience with border related smuggling. America is in the midst of a very serious Heroin epidemic. Wisconsin for instance, by the latest DEA report we have seen, indicates that of the Heroin seized in the State of Wisconsin, 79% comes from Mexico and 17% comes from South America. That is a clear indication that it is Transnational Criminal Organizations that are smuggling Heroin into the United States and placing the Heroin in their trusted associates hands throughout the United States for delivery to Wisconsin, and other states, for sale. We also hear that fentanyl has been found in Marijuana in Ohio. It is these Transnational Criminal operators embedded in the communities within the United States that are bringing in and distributing the heroin nationwide. These Transnational Criminal Organizations are well funded, well organized and conducting their business right before our very eyes. Davis-Oliver is the tool that Law Enforcement Officers Nationwide need to begin effectively dismantling these Transnational Criminal Organizations in the United States and enforcing Davis-Oliver will disrupt and significantly diminish the supply lines bringing heroin into the United States. If Congress wants less Heroin in the United States they will pass Davis-Oliver and give American Law Enforcement the tools they need to attack the crisis. The Davis-Oliver Act (HR-2431) was introduced by Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho) in the U.S. House of Representatives. (H.R. 2431) was approved by the House Judiciary Committee by a 19-13 vote, May 2017

Yesterday, Congressman Andy Biggs called for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to recuse himself from the Department of Justice investigation: “Special Counsel Robert Mueller should recuse himself because the integrity of his appointment is in question due to former FBI Director James Comey’s manipulative leaks and the relationship between Comey and Mueller. His ability to be impartial is doubtful because he has surrounded himself with highly partisan lawyers who make a special practice to line the coffers of Democrats. We learned after. Mueller’s appointment that Comey leaked government memos, hoping to influence the appointment of a Special Counsel. Comey’s actions were rewarded by a media frenzy that backed the Administration into a nightmarish corner, leading to the appointment of his close friend, Mueller. Since taking on the role, Mueller has made blatantly partisan hires that put the integrity of the investigation into question. I am gravely concerned by all of this and have concluded that Robert Mueller should recuse himself from further involvement. This investigation should not be centered around President Trump, as multiple high-ranking officials, including Comey and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, have stated that they have not seen any evidence that he colluded with Russia or that he was under investigation. The spotlight instead should be squarely on the Obama administration’s failure to protect the United States of America from attempted Russian interference in the 2016 election. In testimony this week before the House Intelligence Committee, former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson admitted that the Obama administration even knew of Russian involvement in the 2016 election, but delayed making it public. The American people deserve to know the full story behind those actions, not a nefarious tall tale to undermine President Trump. The progress of the Trump administration during President Trump’s first five months in office have been slowed by unsourced allegations meant to sabotage his administration and derail his agenda to make this country great again. It is time for Congress and the Department of Justice to regain full control of these investigations and allow the President to govern the country as he was elected to do.”

Phoenix City Council incumbent Sal DiCiccio: My commitment to protecting you and your family remains strong. That’s why I’ve fought for and won the battle to:

    · Put more police on our streets,

    · Keep drug halfway houses from being placed in residential neighborhoods,

    · A four year freeze of water rates and rescinded the food tax,

    · And constantly fighting for greater transparency and accountability for the City of Phoenix budgeting.

This has been a crazy election year and one that none of us will ever forget.  The good news is that we are nearing the end of this cycle. And the bad news is that I do have an opponent in the race. I am writing today to ask for your help to beat back the groups that are devoted to spending more, taxing more and protecting their insider access.  You may recall the last election when the government unions poured over $1.1 Million into attacking me and my family.  This was the most ever spent on a local election in this state and these are the tactics I am up against.   This is why I need your help.
