Political Consultant Constantin Querard: Sorry to hear of the passing of Emil Franzi. He was a longtime conservative voice down in Tucson/Pima County, so that certainly qualifies him as an eternal optimist. He certainly ruffled his share of feathers, but whether folks agreed with him or not, I think just about all of them will vouch for Emil truly believing he was doing what was right. RIP Emil and thank you for the kindness you showed a youngster just starting out in Arizona, wondering if we could get some solid righties elected down South. Congressman Paul Gosar, who is the Congressional Western Caucus Chairman and CD5 Congressman Andy Biggs in response to the delay of the October 2015 Ozone Rule promulgated by the Obama Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): When pristine national parks like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Rocky Mountain are in danger of being in nonattainment under the proposed Obama standard, there is a serious problem with the numbers,” said Gosar. “I am glad to see common sense finally prevail at the EPA with the announcement that the agency is postponing and reevaluating the job-killing Ozone Rule promulgated by President Obama and former Administrator Gina McCarthy. By delaying this out-of-touch standard, the EPA can fully consider what levels of ozone occur organically, the amount of background ozone from international sources and the impacts of exceptional events. The currently proposed 70 parts per billion standard is unattainable for numerous counties throughout the nation. Furthermore, it is not based on sound science and would absolutely decimate states, killing tens of thousands of jobs and costing our economy tens of billions of dollars annually.”
I am pleased the EPA will delay the Obama Administration’s implementation of the October 2015 Ozone Rule,” said Congressman Biggs. “For eight years, Arizona and many other states suffered under the nefarious, regulatory eye of the Obama Administration – most significantly under the EPA. President Trump has wisely surrounded himself with leaders, like Scott Pruitt, who place a premium on listening to states and respecting their 10th Amendment rights. Under Secretary Pruitt’s direction, the era of politically-motivated and job-killing environmental policies is finally over.”
Congressman Andy Biggs: Yesterday, former FBI Director James Comey testified before the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee that the FBI was not investigating President Trump during his tenure. “After Comey’s testimony, I am more convinced than ever of the Left’s and the radical media’s desperate attempts to sabotage President Donald Trump’s administration through exaggerated and irrational hysteria. Even with today’s testimony, Comey’s memos remain one-sided accounts of the conversations he had with President Trump. Taken at face value, they confirm that President Trump was committed to a full investigation into unproven allegations of ties to Russia. Also in his testimony, Comey stated that he initiated dialogue with then President-elect Trump about Russian influence into the 2016 elections, and he went on to reaffirm three times that President Trump is not personally under investigation by the FBI. I was disappointed by Comey’s arrogance as he recounted five alleged events with the President. Comey repeatedly questioned whether he should be talking to his boss, the Commander in Chief, and he brazenly inserts the admission that he ‘did not tell the President that the FBI and the Department of Justice had been reluctant to make public statements that [they] did not have an open case on President Trump.’ Comey may not have agreed with the content of the conversations taking place, but as long as those conversations were legal (which nothing in Comey’s testimony said otherwise) he is obligated to serve the President, and both are bound to act in accordance with the U.S. Constitution. I have seen no evidence – sourced or unsourced – indicating that President Trump has betrayed the U.S. Constitution or violated any law. According to Comey’s testimony, President Trump is only guilty of a sincere desire to have the truth exposed that he was not under investigation by the FBI. The Left and the radical media are so committed to obstructing the will of the American people by consistently promoting misleading headlines about the President. They do not speak, however, for me, my constituents, or countless Americans across the nation. We know President Trump has already gone to great lengths to keep his promises and, through those promises, he is making America great again. I will continue to do my part to ensure these truths are highlighted.”
