Republican Briefs

Poll -- Most-Vocal-Republican-Critics-Of-Trump-Are-The-Least-Popular McCain, Graham, Flake — Never-Trumpers in '16 and Gang of Eighters — notch worst approval ratings of GOP senators: …A new list of approval polls for all 50 U.S. senators released this week seems to indicate that the Republican senators with the lowest popularity among voters at home are those who have been the most vocally critical of President Donald Trump — and who have historically supported amnesty for illegal immigrants. The least popular GOP senators, according to the series of polls from Morning Consult, were — in this order — Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). McConnell, McCain, and Flake were the three least popular senators overall, regardless of party affiliation. Nearly half — 48 percent — of voters disapprove of McConnell. Nearly as many voters, 47 percent, disapprove of McCain. Flake has a disapproval rating of 45 percent, while 38 percent of voters disapprove of Graham.

McCain Is Not Happy With New Senate-Health-Bill. Here’s What He Wants Sen. John McCain expressed disappointment Thursday that the latest rewrite of the Senate Republican health-care bill did not adequately shield Arizona's Medicaid system, which would face an estimated $7.1 billion hit by the end of 2026.

LD8 Program Director George Grove: There are major problems in the future.  I have spoken with many people over the last couple of months with respect to what our elected representatives are doing and not doing in Washington.  Many are not happy and are thinking of withdrawing from voting for Republicans in the 2018 voting cycle.  We gave them the ‘House’ and they did nothing with the purse strings, we gave them the ‘Senate’ and they cried Obama will only veto whatever we send to him, now we have all three branches and they are still one puppy short of a pet store.  I voted for Barry Goldwater in my first Presidential and have been a loyal Republican since that time.  It is really too bad that my elected representatives are not loyal Republicans themselves.

Former Sen Ron Gould appeared on KNTR Speak Out yesterday morning addressing Feron 22 phase out. Gould said, “I don't normally talk air conditioning on a political talk-show but, there are some unscrupulous air conditioning service companies that are misinforming their customers.

The FAIR Field Team and FAIR Government Relations Director Robert Law invite you to participate in a free conference call line Wed., July 19 to get the latest updates regarding what is or isn’t happening in Washington D.C. on immigration related matters. For instance…The House Appropriations Committee approved a measure late last night that would allow participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, DACA or DREAMers, to work for the federal government and members of Congress.    Under current rules, DREAMers may not be employed by the government, though they can work for third parties that provide jobs at agencies and Capitol Hill. This amendment would allow them to work directly for the government. Topics will include: Bills which will need our support to move, Davis Oliver Act, Kate’s Law; Bills we oppose and why, funding for the Border Wall, DACA update and more. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from those on the “Hill” every day and ask some questions. We all need to know what is happening behind closed doors and in the dark of night. We must find ways to support President Trump’s Agenda and increase pressure on our elected officials to finish the job and fulfill campaign promises of border security and immigration enforcement! Call times: 8 PM Eastern time, 7 PM Central time, 6 PM Mountain time, and 5 PM Pacific time. Call 888 330-9549, then enter passcode 1660622 and the # sign. Contact: Susan Tully, FAIR National Field Director tullys@fairus.org

The Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Senate Democrats obstructing Patrick Shanahan's nomination to the Department of Defense: "Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s decision to politicize a top Department of Defense nomination, at a time of rising national security threats, signals a new low in Senate Democrats’ unprecedented obstruction of President Trump’s qualified nominees," said McDaniel. "Rather than allow Patrick Shanahan, the president’s nominee for Deputy Secretary of Defense – a consensus choice even the New York Times has praised – to be approved by unanimous consent, Schumer objected, further delaying his confirmation. It is time for Senate Democrats to drop this pointless and dangerous intransigence and start working with the Administration on behalf of the American people."

Trump-Shocking-Vulgar-And-Right; Cats-Out-Of-Bag Tucker Carlson nailed it. His pre-election assessment of Donald Trump as "shocking, vulgar and right" not only captured the view of millions of Trump supporters, it exposed the conservative side of the D.C. swamp opposing Trump as a bunch of do-nothings living well on donations. Now a new grassroots movement is forming to make America -- not inside the Beltway -- great again ...

Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas today announced the hiring of Lindsay Hudson as the Arizona Department of Education’s (ADE’s) new Director of the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA)  program. In addition to Hudson, ESA is in the process of hiring several new program specialists to bring its total number of full-time employees to 11.www.azed.gov/esa.

Democrats Block Vote That Would Make Female Genital Mutilation A Crime …For those of you who don’t know what FGM is, you’re lucky. It was recently discovered that female genital mutilation no longer just happens across the ocean, it’s happening right here in America. Not a lot of people were exactly happy about this, and hoped to pass a bill in Maine that would criminalize the act of female circumcision . Democrats, naturally, had to oppose the passage of the bill. One refused to vote for it because she didn’t believe that it was happening in her state. Okay? Then what’s the problem with making it a crime at the state level?

Germany-Migrants-Infectious A new report by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the federal government's central institution for monitoring and preventing diseases, confirms an across-the-board increase in disease since 2015, when Germany took in an unprecedented number of migrants. Some doctors say the actual number of cases of tuberculosis is far higher than the official figures suggest and have accused the RKI of downplaying the threat in an effort to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiments. "Around 700,000 to 800,000 applications for asylum were submitted and 300,000 refugees have disappeared. Have they been checked? Do they come from the high-risk countries?" — Carsten Boos, orthopedic surgeon, interview with Focus Magazine.

Nets Smear Updated Senate Health Care Bill With Fake News of Medicaid Cuts Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled the revised version of the GOP health care bill on Thursday, which added provisions meant to entice both the conservative and left-leaning members of the Republican Party. And despite the fact that the Congressional Budget Office had yet to release their report on the revisions, the Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) wasted no time in tearing it down with the usual fake news of massive cuts to Medicaid.

STUDY: Nets Covered Donald Jr’s Russia Meeting 20x More Than Clinton Uranium Deal The Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) evening news shows, in the last four nights, have been dominated by Donald J. Trump Jr.’s 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower – a meeting in which apparently no favors, money or meaningful information was exchanged – but those same shows all but ignored Hillary Clinton’s Russia-Uranium scandal back in 2015. At the time, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was considered the favorite to win the Democratic nomination but the networks couldn’t care less. Total amount of Big Three evening news network coverage of that story in over two years? Just 3 minutes and 1 second.

McConnell’s Health Gambit Ripples In Kentucky Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a dicey spot in more ways than one when it comes to the Senate’s healthcare bill. If the Kentucky Republican fails in his effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare, his reputation as a master tactician of the Senate will take a hit, with lawmakers second-guessing his decisions on drawing up a bill largely behind closed doors. It would also deal a serious blow to the GOP effort to end ObamaCare and would mean Republicans have wasted the first seven months of the new Trump administration with little to show for it. Questions about the rest of their agenda would grow. Back in Kentucky, McConnell would also face some politically tricky questions.  Read the full story here
